On the second to the last day of the Quadra Tour, Sepultura made a stop in Los Angeles at the beautiful Belasco Theater. The show opened up with the Los Angeles based band “Art of Shock”. Opening their set with "Dark Angeles" from their latest release. It was a non stop set of fast riffs, explosive drums and aggressive vocals from Art Geezar that warmed the crowd up for what was about to happen with the next three bands.

As people begin to chant “ Crowbar, Crowbar, Crowbar” , the New Orleans natives give the crowd a gut punch with “Conquering” from their 2006 album “Broken Glass”.  Even though  this was the end of the tour, Kirk’s vocals were brutal as ever. You can just feel the sludgy guitars, the heavy bass lines fill the room with an energy unlike any other. Crowbar have cemented themselves as one of the leaders of sludge to come out of Louisiana, and are still carrying that torch with their new album “Zero and Below” released this year. After their last song “ All I Had (I Gave)” , Kirk had the crowd chanting Crowbar nonstop.

The Thrash Metal legends themselves Sacred Reich take the stage with fast guitars and thunderous drums they are known for.  Phil’s vocals sounded  just as good as they did when they first started back in the 80’s. Playing all of the hits from their first album to their latest. As the rowdy crowd sings along to all of the songs while a circle pit erupts at the center of the room for the entire set. Wiley Arnett and the newest/youngest member, Joey Radziwill are not only delivering with their guitars but also with a fun, power stanced, head banging energy that just adds to an already great performance.

After everyone having their faces melted for the past 2.5 hrs, everyone knows what is about to happen. The blue lit stage is empty as Policia by Titans is played before the band graces the stage with their presence. Sepultura come out with kick in chest and played "Refuse/ Resist" off their 1993 album "Chaos A.D."  Derrick Green vocals are a ferocious growl coming from the lowest of the low that you can just feel throughout your body. Unfortunately Eloy Casagrande broke his leg earlier in the tour so they had Bruno Valverde fill in on drums. Not only did he have to learn 13 songs in a couple days but he delivered them without a hitch . Eloy would have been proud of his performance since he handled all of the songs with such precision and care. Andreas Kisser destroyed on guitar and moved around the stage like a mad man while putting on one hell of a show. Drinks are flying, bodies being surfed, and a pit about the size of the entire floor of The Belasco is moving in one massive circle consuming everyone in its proximity. How could they not end the show with Roots Bloody Roots and guess what, they did. From the first guitar chord, people shouted with excitement, running towards the stage with an uproarious energy. This was the last chance to participate and people took advantage of that even from the back of the theater. Sepultura delivered a solid performance that left me with a huge smile because it was just so damn good.
