Attending a Tool concert on Valentine's Day proved to be an exceptional experience, and even if you weren't a Tool fan initially, the transformative power of their performance likely converted you by the end of the show. The Crypto Arena in Los Angeles hosted Tool for two consecutive nights alongside the evocative soundscapes of Elder. Opening the evening, Elder captivated the audience with their blend of progressive metal and psychedelic elements, setting the stage for an unforgettable night. Their 45-minute set received thunderous applause, establishing them as an outstanding opener.

At precisely 8:30, the venue plunged into darkness, signaling the beginning of a two-hour musical odyssey unlike any other. Tool, comprised of Danny, Adam, Justin, and Maynard, showcased a progressive metal sound that stands the test of time. Their synchronicity was unparalleled, and they sounded tighter than ever. While the music alone has always been a highlight, the addition of a colossal wall of psychedelic visuals and a mesmerizing laser show elevated the experience, transporting the audience into another dimension.

One notable aspect that added to the exclusivity of the event was Tool's request for a no-recording or photography policy during the performance. This decision enhanced the sense of immersion, allowing everyone in attendance to fully engage with the music and visuals for the entire two-hour performance. However, there was a moment of deviation when a fan in the front row defied the rule, prompting Maynard to call them out mid-song.

The setlist predominantly featured tracks from their 2019 album, "Fear Inoculum," with sprinklings of beloved fan favorites. Closing the night with "Stinkfist," one of their most iconic songs, proved to be an exhilarating and fitting climax. Tool's ability to create an atmosphere that goes beyond the auditory realm, combined with their unwavering musical prowess, made this Valentine's Day concert a truly extraordinary experience.
