For the second day of Touche Amore’s tour, they played in their hometown of Los Angeles at the beautiful Belasco Theater. They were supported by Thirdface, Gleemer and Vein fm. Touche Amore was finally able to play songs off the new album “Lament” which I personally find to be one of the best albums to date, but then again they dont have any bad albums.

The show opens with Thirdface, a hardcore band from Nashville,TN. They released their debut album exactly a year ago and couldn’t be happier to hear songs off that album. Kathryn’s vocals are absolutely crushing full of intensity. Not a dull moment through out the entire 25 minutes they were on stage. Nothing but visceral, raw energy coming from every which way. They definitely stand out from all the other hardcore bands out there and that is a great thing. If you want some fast, heart-pounding hardcore music, then go give them a listen.

The way Gleemer was placed on the set was perfect because you were woken up with Thirdface and given a little break before shit got wild. Gleemer is a shoegaze band from Loveland, Colorado. A band that has been around for nearly a decade who have developed quite the following, as people were shouting out how much they love them and asking them to come back to Los Angeles soon. Corey’s vocals are absolutely dreamy backed by distorted guitars cranked to 10 on the volume knob. Quite possibly some of the most beautiful shoegaze or even general music, period. Go give them a listen because you cannot go wrong with any of their albums .

You can feel that there was anticipation brewing for this next band, Vein fm (formerly known as Vein) a metalcore band from Boston, MA. They can be argued to be classified as hardcore punk, math core because of all the influences they combine into their sound. What a pleasure to hear their album as it just dropped the day prior. “ This World is Going to Ruin You” is a great addition to their discography. Opening up with Hellnight off the new album made you feel as if you just went from 0 to 60 after hearing Corey from Gleemer’s vocals. Not only is their music heavy as shit but their stage presence matches the music. From Jon jumping in the air as he plays those heavy bass lines and Anthony constantly moving around the stage with aggressive, raw energy while vocalizing new and old tracks. Crowd surfing and mosh pits broke out as everyone warmed up to Vein fm’s presence. Talk about a non stop train ride until the very end of the set when they play a new track “Wavery”. Anthony’svocals and the sound are very reminiscent of Deftones but with Vein fm twist on it. Vein fm is well worth your attention

The headliner needs no introduction as one of the greatest post hardcore bands to have ever graced the scene. Not only do they make some of the best music but they are some of the best dudes. They played a lengthy set that included Honest Sleep, Reminders, Limelight, ~ , The Great Repetition, Flowers and You and coming out for an encore to Palm Dreams off of Stage Four, which is a song that has not been played live very many times. As a Touche fan, I was beyond happy with the set list because of my love for the new album. The crowd interacted with Jeremy at every chance they could. Jeremy would jump down from the stage and join the fans as they sang along to every single word which absolutely puts a smile on his face. Knowing that all of these songs that they wrote were known by all these people must be one of the best feelings for the band. Touche Amore have a contagious energy to them and you cannot help but participate in some capacity. They sounded better than ever and love to see them mature and grow as a band. Thank you Touche Amore !
