This Helsinki band have released their 11th album “Universal Monsters.  The band is well known for their gothic rock style and this album is no different. You will get what you expect from 69 Eyes.  But you will also note the sound of moving on, changing a little, but it is all for the good.

It has been a while since I have listened to these guys, and I have only seen them live once, so this was nice to get this to review. The artwork is done by Ville Juurikkala.

I am not going to go into each song, as you really need to go get the album and enjoy it yourself, without any previous thoughts, so I will just give you an overall thought on the album. It starts off with a hard rock intro with the guitars and bass shinning, a great song to start the album off with, it is catchy and you want more. Some songs are melodic, even moody at times, you can even hear some Celtic melody. You will also get some slower songs, some kick ass ones that you want to get up and dance around the room, and isn’t that what a CD should be, a variety of styles so that each can fit the mood you are in. You just might hear that nostalgic 69 Eyes sound too, perfect. It has everything on this album, including maybe a little horror, and let’s not forget a pretty amazing solo.

The band really showcases their talent with Universal Monsters.  If you are a fan of this group, it is definitely a must have.
