Covering two shows of this killer tour package was 110% necessary! Such amazing bands, plus a fun bonus getting to visit other cities at the same time.

Date: Feb. 10, 2015
Venue: El Corazon, Seattle, WA

Date: Feb. 11, 2015
Venue:Commodore Ballroom, Vancouver, BC

Two of the most noticeable bands in the history of death metal (Behemoth/Cannibal Corpse) are teaming up to take North America in 2015! They are joining forces January 28th in New Orleans, LA at the House of Blues and ending  March 7th in Ft. Lauderdale, FL at the Revolution. Put both bands into one tour promises to make this a must see metal tour for 2015. To open the show, two of Sweden’s finest metal acts have been enlisted, Aeon and Tribulation. Both Behemoth and Cannibal Corpse alternated as headliners, that being said, both bands played for over an hour, amazing sets from both shows, both bands.

First off, I have to get my gripe out of the way…..EL CORAZON, come on, this is Cannibal Corpse (last time Showbox), Behemoth, these two alone should have seen them at a bigger venue for everyone to enjoy, with room to move, where you could watch each of the members on stage, some were in the dark. And please, there needs to be someone who knows the sound system, that works at the venue. Both headlining bands were not impressed at all. In fact, I have not been to this venue in a very long time, but because of who the bands were, I decided it was a must. My mistake. The bands themselves put everything into it they had, their energy, their hard work.  If you attended the Seattle show,  then you know the issues that happened this night, was is no way the fault of the band. You know these bands are capable of a solid performance, and yes, they had their own techs, but those poor guys could only do so much, if they don’t have the co-operation of the venue staff, then …well, you get what happened. The bands were not pleased, they themselves want to give their fans everything they have. A true fan of these bands, ‘knows’ what they are capable of, and would never place blame on the them. I still enjoyed because my favourite band was there, and considering it was a sold out show, I stayed safely out of the way. Tonight had Behemoth headlining.

Now, the second night of coverage was hometown of  Vancouver, and what I consider to be the only venue to really capture the true essence of a metal band. The sound was outstanding, perfection (for my ears), and the lighting, was exceptional, dark but with atmosphere.

TRIBULATION, a Swedish death metal band from Arvika hit’s the stage first. Some of you might remember this band when they came through with Watain and In Solitude a few years back. I remember them when they came through, and it’s great to see them spreading their dark wings to gather a following. The band is death metal, but it also has much more than that. They played a variety of songs, much to everyone’s enjoyment I might add, the mosh pit was crazy and brutal. Their sound, one of a kind. Make sure to check them out, don’t miss this band just because it’s an opener, that would be a mistake. This is a band that I can see reaching new a new level in their career.

Next up was AEON, another Swedish band but from Östersund. I am going to be honest, this is a first for me, I haven’t seen them play before. I will tell you they are death metal through and through, with the deep growls, almost like Corpsegrinder, but we all know there is only one Corpsegrinder. This was a great band to lead up to Cannibal Corpse, they have the brutality to create havoc in the pit. There was no way I could enjoy first hand (at the front).  The floor was filled, as it was at the start of the night, and everyone, was headbanging, or in the pit, even the ones sitting were keeping in tune to the beats. Everyone was enjoying .

Now, for those of you that know me, Poland’s own BEHEMOTH is a band, that I could be on my death bed, and I would find a way to get there no matter what. Behemoth’s illustrious tenth album, “The Satanist,” entered the Billboard Top 200 at #34 after its release February 4th last year. There is no mistaking the ability and talent behind each of these musicians. What gives them that extra edge is Nergal’s voice, there is none like it, you will never ever find a voice to match. My first experience with Behemoth was 2007, and I have been a fan ever since, each album makes me admire them even more. For me, I don’t care what you call it, when you get Nergal, Orion, Inferno and Seth up on that stage, be prepared, you are going to know what black/death metal is all about. They played so many great songs, and for myself, even though I have heard the songs so many times, they still kick ass. What more can you ask for, oh wait, did I mention they brought almost their full stage production? Well, they brought their wicked metal mic-stands that usually only European fans get the pleasure of seeing, but also full lighting, some fire, missing a little extra pyro, but for the most part, this was like watching a “local Polish show” of Behemoth. It’s what you call the whole package, music  combined with appearance, and looking around the room, they had the attention of everyone in the venue.  I pushed my way up to the front, no way would I miss Behemoth, especially when they played in Vancouver, it was a nicer, bigger venue. They move around the stage, giving everyone a chance to see each of them perform, but I will say, when they come close to where you are, they can send a shiver down your spine with their eyes. There is no way I can do them justice, you have to see them , they truly conquer all. There are still lots of tour dates, please whatever you do - DON’T MISS BEHEMOTH.

Time for Florida’s very own CANNIBAL CORPSE, there is not a metal head in this world that does not know these guys, they are the ones that manipulated and transcended the very boundaries of death metal. They have released numerous albums over the years, and they haven’t reached their status by being the typical death metal band. In fact Cannibal Corpse released their thirteenth album, “A Skeletal Domain,” on September 16th and debuted at #32 on the Billboard Top 200.They create and play the only death metal in it‘s true sense, you really need to witness Cannibal Corpse to get the full impact. Of all the shows I have seen with these guys, they never disappoint, and they always play the songs I like. Looking around the room, everyone else was enjoying it as well.  Sadly I could only stand up front for a few songs before the crowd went ballistic, but it’s Cannibal Corpse, you just know that before you even step into the venue what to expect. The moshers are really brutal when they take the stage. That’s the point when you know the fans are loving every minute. Corpsegrinder is famous for his head banging, and over the years I have seen many try, but none can ever come close to his ability.  The only problem is when you enjoy a band so much, it never seems to last as long as you would like.

Please, don’t miss this tour, make sure to grab your tickets, as shows are selling out, get VIP and meet both Cannibal and Behemoth. Take some merchandise home with you, showing your support for these bands, who have created something for us to enjoy, and take the time out of their lives to travel the world so we get the opportunity to witness them live.
