Review by Metal Mom

Cradle of Filth has always been a favourite of mine, since my kids introduced me to them back in their high school days, and I have been to their shows ever since when they come to town. So, reviewing their newest and greatest album is a real honor for me. We all know what to expect from the 20 years plus inspirational artists, you know their sound, but you might just get a little more this time around.

So, what can you expect to hear on their new album, well some true kick ass death black metal and with that, some orchestra and choir, giving us something truly grand. For me, COF brings to their albums, a great deal of talent, executed to perfection. They know how to create and put all these elements together to give us a masterpiece. Consider the combination of Dani’s insane evocative lyrics and the intense detail and the compelling imagery, it is no wonder they have succeeded and gone on with their driving heavy music and still, honoring their traditions.

The band is even more potent and devastating than before, and who is the fury behind the band, Dani Filth, guitarists Ashok and Richard Shaw, bassist Daniel Firth, keyboard and vocal siren Lindsay Schoolcraft along with percussive mainstay Martin Škaroupka. They are the creators, who have achieved some new heights and fury with Cryptoriana – The Seductiveness of Decay. I can tell you, I truly appreciate this new album, it has gone beyond the norm for COF, but still stayed in the realm.

The lyrics on this album are lyrically and artistically infused with Victorian gothic horror, and hence the title. All around on this album, there is a command to listen, to appreciate, and immerse yourself in the supernatural, but appreciate the indestructible British metal institution we have all come to know and love, Cradle of Filth.
