When it comes to thrash metal, America has the market cornered; this country brought you Megadeth, Anthrax, Testament, Overkill, Slayer, Death Angel, Exodus and at one time Metallica used to be a thrash band, but you all knew that.

2016 has seen the release of solid efforts from the aforementioned; Anthrax, Megadeth and Death Angel. With a potential Testament record on the horizon American thrash metal is about to leave the rest of the world’s thrash bands in the dust. Well not if Destruction have anything to say about it.

A thrash metal band that is often overlooked at least in North America is the German act Destruction. They along with Kreator are quintessential European thrash metal bands; quite frankly darker than their American counterparts---except for Slayer of course. If you’re familiar with Destruction you know that they don’t deviate from their signature sound that culls from; NWOBHM and the speed metal genres. Destruction have a long, rich musical history and a loyal following globally; albeit on a smaller scale. The German trio has unleashed their latest effort ‘Under Attack’ their 14th record to date if you’re keep count. ‘Under Attack’ is an all out aerial thrash metal assault that’s sure grab your rattle your skull. Like with most past Destruction records the drumming is a magnificent percussive bombardment; ‘Under Attack’ is no different.

The standouts on ‘Under Attack’ are; the title track “Under Attack,” “Getting Used to Evil,” and “Pathogenic.” Destruction might be the best three piece metal act in existence now that Motorhead is no more. Check out Destruction if you haven’t already. If you’re into no frills, honest, ‘working man’s metal’ this band is for you
