JULY 26th 2017

Welcome to Metaltitans, Guardians of Music Entertainment Worldwide, Today we sat down with lead singer Andrew Knudsen, vocalist of Empyrean Throne.

Can you tell us a brief history on the band Empyrean Throne.

Those seeking the keys to the past and subsequent illumination can find it, but it is their responsibility to look.

How would you describe your music in the black metal scene and influences that drive the band either music, books or film?

If we had to label our style of music, the “symphonic black metal” brand would be a great all-encompassing one. However, we do carry marking of other sub-genres such as death metal. Musically, we do find inspiration from our contemporaries: metal titans with names like Watain, Fleshgod Apocalypse, and Behemoth, to invoke a few. For our current upcoming release Chaosborne, conceptually, we were heavily inspired by the writings of HP Lovecraft as well as other occult writings.

Your new album Chaosborne come out Aug 11th and wanted to know the creative behind the album cover and how you contracted Vladislav Kutusov in creating the piece?
If I am to understand the question correctly, you’re asking about the creative process behind the album and Vladislav’s subsequent involvement. The cover art of Chaosborne shows a final transformation of the album’s main character as a powerful demigod. We found Vladislav Kutusov through a Ukrainian website that shared one of his previous works. He was un-credited, so we took the initiative to research him. Once we were able to contact him, we contracted him to do the artwork. He did a fantastic job on the album art. We couldn’t be happier with the end result.

What is the strongest track on the new album and why?
We feel each track has its own strengths and personality. Each song has its place in the record.

What makes this album stand out to your previous music?
Chaosborne is our first full-length record and it also serves as a testament as to how we of Empyrean Throne have grown as musicians.

What are the plans for the band once the album comes out?
One word: touring.

How do you promote your band and shows?
Usually we send a raven to King’s Landing to let the serfs of Westeros know that Winter is—wait a minute, that’s something different.

How does music affect you and the world around you?

For us, the music is spiritually and mentally liberating. It fans the Black Flame within. We hope that those who see us perform may experience the same sense of liberation and cultivation of the inner Self.
