OCTOBER 18th 2015

Review by: Metal Mom

There have been many reviews done on Ghost’s latest, ‘Meliora’, their 3rd album in fact, and they have all been good ones. I wanted to wait until all the hoopla was over and I could really tell it like it is. Also, Ghost for the first time ever entered The Billboard 200 chart at position No. 8 with first-week sales in the USA. Impressive right. A higher power underground.

I have done tons of reviews, some good, some bad, and well some that just shouldn't have been released. Where does this one fit it? Are you ready, I am going to come right out and say it....it kicks major ass, and I am not kidding. This album I have been listening to over and over, and it is now October, and in no way am I sick of it yet.

To tell you the truth, this album outshines any album I have ever reviewed, it is time to kneel down and worship Ghost and the Nameless Ghouls. This is a real expression of style, spirit and all around talent. Just sit down and listen, each song is different, creativity above all else here, it is almost as if it’s the greatest hits. You can tell when one song ends, and the other starts. After a few times of listening, you learn the words and can sing along, nothing better than belting out the song as you drive somewhere.

Every song, every track stands on it’s own merits. Are they trying to be the chosen one, if so, they have succeeded in so many ways. This is a band, that truly doesn’t even need to be put into a genre, because they rule it all with their guitars, keyboards, drums, bass, vocals, I have never seen or heard a band this well put together.

Track listing:
01. Spirit
02. From The Pinnacle To The Pit
03. Cirice
04. Spöksonat
05. He Is
06. Mummy Dust
07. Majesty
08. Devil Church
09. Absolution
10. Deus In Absentia

The album's first single release was Cirice, and a great choice, but any one of those songs I would have approved of. All a glorious noise of the ancients.

Myths and legends are mostly dead, but Ghost is far from it. They have shown their capability, their fire, water, wind, earth, and ether, giving the world a ruler that holds your attention, giving you more than you would ever expect. Am I exaggerating, not on your life, all you need to do, is buy Ghost “Meliora”, and you will know the extend of what I am talking about. You will grow and appreciate the diversity in this album.

Now I highly recommend seeing them live, these are the remaining tour dates to witness Ghost and The Nameless Ghouls:
