DEFTONES SET FOR NEW ALBUM RELEASE
DEFTONES has set a tentative October 9 release date for its seventh album.
Regarding the musical direction of the follow-up to 2010's "Diamond Eyes", DEFTONES vocalist Chino Moreno said, "Obviously we're an aggressive band — not the heaviest, but there's a lot of attack. But there's also this lush beauty that flows within everything that we do, and that's my favorite part of the band. To me, it's the epitome of what the DEFTONES do."
The CD was once again helmed by Nick Raskulinecz, who produced "Diamond Eyes" and has also worked with FOO FIGHTERS, RUSH, EVANESCENCE and ALICE IN CHAINS. "He's a very hands-on guy," Moreno told EW.com. "We adopted a work ethic that was really productive on the last record. We said we were going to work eight hours a day, and since we had those hours, everybody in there was super focused. Before that we had been working up in Sacramento, and the vibe was everybody would come in and hang out and we would work when we got around to it. We had to get more efficient."
As in the past, DEFTONES will record a handful of covers, some of which will undoubtedly make it various special editions of the new album. "We've done a lot of '80s stuff, but we wanted to do something from farther back," Moreno explained. "We sat down and everybody had their computers on and were playing songs that we like. So we're going to do an Elvis Presley song — we have five Elvis songs that we've been talking about. And we're going to do EARTH, WIND, AND FIRE. Hopefully we'll get at least two, maybe three or four."
He added, "It's always fun. We're done with the real creative part of having to come up with music out of thin air, and now we can be experimental with someone else's song."

LAMB OF GOD SINGER CHARGED
WITH MANSLAUGHTER
Lamb of God frontman Randy Blythe was arrested yesterday in Prague on charges of manslaughter stemming from a 2010 altercation with a Czech fan who came onstage during one of the band's shows and later died from injuries he sustained in the scuffle.
Czech news outlet Novinky reports (via Blabbermouth and MetalSucks) that the as-yet-unnamed fan jumped on the relatively low stage during the May 24, 2010 show at a venue called Abaton, and that he and Blythe got into a physical fight. Though there is still seemingly no video evidence of the altercation online (you can watch Lamb of God performing "In Your Words" at the show in question below), it is rumored by "those who know the band" that the fan might have been hit in the head with a microphone before being forcibly removed from the stage by security.
"Randy Blythe was falsely accused," reads a statement from Lamb of God's reps. "There is a team of lawyers working on it and he will be exonerated." Blythe's brother Mark has also said that the charge is "bogus and outrageous and will be dropped immediately." The Richmond, Virginia, band was forced to cancel its show at Prague's Rock Café that night and last night tweeted "#FreeRandyBlythe." At press time, the message has been formally retweeted nearly 1,800 times in the past 12 hours.
UPDATE (11:05 a.m. EDT): Lamb of God's representatives have released the following statement: "Lamb of God management will be issuing an official statement on Monday regarding the charges made against singer Randy Blythe. As no formal charges have yet been made and the case is only in the investigation stages, it would be premature to make an official statement filled with false truths or innuendos. Having said that, management wished to address today one false piece of information that has been included in many of the news stories released so far. Under no circumstances was there a fight of any kind involved," it reads. "This incident deals with a fan that three times during the concert jumped the barricade and rushed Randy during the performance. It is alleged that the third time, security was not able to reach him and that Randy pushed him back into the audience where supposedly he fell and hit his head."
The statement also adds that "until the investigation is concluded this weekend, nothing more will be released" by Blythe's camp.

WHITECHAPEL FIRST WEEK SALES REVEALED

MUNICIPAL WASTE RELEASE

"You're Cut Off", the new animated video from the Virginia crossover thrash metal band MUNICIPAL WASTE, can be seen below. The clip was created by Pierre Mousquet and Jerume Cauwe of IMOV Studios.
Commented MUNICIPAL WASTE frontman Tony Foresta: "We've always wanted to see an animated WASTE video and this blew away our expectations. I'm stoked that the Wizard came out of his brief retirement to make an appearance as well. I've watched this thing over 40 times and I still keep finding hidden gems. "You're Cut Off" comes off MUNICIPAL WASTE's fifth album, "The Fatal Feast", which sold around 2,700 copies in the United States in its first week of release. The CD landed at No. 3 on the Top New Artist Albums (Heatseekers) chart, which lists the best-selling albums by new and developing artists, defined as those who have never appeared in the Top 100 of The Billboard 200. The band's previous effort, "Massive Aggressive", opened with around 2,100 copies back in September 2009 to debut at No. 10 on the Heatseekers chart.
"The Fatal Feast" was released on April 10, 2011 in North America and April 13, 2011 in Europe via Nuclear Blast Records. The cover artwork for the CD was created by Justin Osbourn of Slasher Design and can be seen below.
"The Fatal Feast" features guest appearances by John Connelly (guitarist and vocalist for NUCLEAR ASSAULT), Steve Moore (who plays bass and synthesizers for ZOMBI), and vocalist Tim Barry (ex-AVAIL).

EX-QUEENSRYCHE SINGER SIGNS
NEW RECORD DEAL
GEOFF TATE, the legendary Queensryche frontman and one of the most acclaimed vocalists in the history of hard rock and heavy metal, has signed a worldwide recording contract with INSIDEOUT MUSIC.
"I'm very excited to join forces with InsideOut Music," says Tate of his multi-album deal. "They are very committed to progressive music and care deeply for their artists, working together with them to bring music lovers worldwide some of the most compelling rock music available."
As the frontman of Queensryche, GEOFF TATE has sold more than 20 million records and received four Grammy nominations. The band's landmark concept album Operation: Mindcrime thrust their unique social consciousness, expertly crafted lyrics and progressive style into the national spotlight in 1988, and was followed by Empire in 1990, the album that delivered the band to arena-headlining status and sold more than three million albums on the back of hit singles "Silent Lucidity" and "Jet City Woman." By the time Queensryche released Promised Land in 1994, Tate was universally acknowledged as one of the greatest frontmen in rock and metal, and a driving force behind progressive metal's most innovative force in mainstream music. Queensryche have released 12 studio albums, with one of their most overlooked gems being American Soldier in 2009, Tate's ambitious concept album that explores the consequences of war as told through the voices of veterans.

GRAVE DIGGER "CLASH OF THE GODS"

German power metallers GRAVE DIGGER will release their new album, "Clash Of The Gods", on August 31 in Europe and September 4 in North America via Napalm Records. A six-song mini-CD, "Home At Last", will precede the full-length effort on July 27 in Europe and August 7 in North America.
GRAVE DIGGER's new CD was recorded at Principal Studios in Münster, Germany. The band laid down at least 10 new original compositions as well as "a cover version of a male, 'not-heavy-metal' artist," which the group said "won't be another German 'Schlager' song... it will be 150 percent pure GRAVE DIGGER metal. Again we transferred the spirit of the '80s into the sound of 2012."

"The Clans Are Still Marching", the latest DVD from GRAVE DIGGER, entered the German Media Control chart at position No. 56 (German chart rules allow music DVDs to enter album charts).
GRAVE DIGGER's latest album, "The Clans Will Rise Again", was released in Europe on October 1, 2010 via Napalm Records. The CD was recorded between mid-May 2010 and mid-July 2010 at the Meadow Studios, which is owned by GRAVE DIGGER's new guitarist Axel Ritt, and Principal Studios, where all of GRAVE DIGGER albums since 1995's "Heart Of Darkness" have been tracked. It was produced by Chris Boltendahl and mixed by Jörg Umbreit.

HALESTORM "I MISS THE MISERY" VIDEO RELEASE
"I Miss The Misery", the new video from HALESTORM can be seem below. The track is the third single from the band's sophomore album, "The Strange Case Of…", which made a stunning No. 1 debut on Billboard's "Hard Rock Albums" chart, while also making a Top 15 entry onto The Billboard 200. In addition, "The Strange Case Of…" has proven a top 10 success on both the "Rock Albums" and "Alternative Albums" rankings.
Produced by Howard Benson (who previously collaborated with HALESTORM on their self-titled 2009 debut), "The Strange Case Of…" includes such explosive tracks as "Here's To Us", which shot to No. 1 on iTunes' "Top Rock Songs" chart after being featured in a February 2012 episode of Fox's hit series "Glee".
HALESTORM made history with its last single, "Love Bites (So Do I)". The track ascended to No. 1 at Active Rock radio outlets nationwide, marking the first ever female-fronted group to top the format's airplay ranking.

KISS REVEIL NEW SINGLE
"HELL OR HALLELUJAH" ARTWORK
The artwork for the new KISS single, "Hell Or Hallelujah", can be seen below. The track, which is expected to be released next week, was previously described by KISS guitarist/vocalist Paul Stanley as "uptempo" and "very definitive."
"Hell Or Hallelujah" comes off KISS' new album, "Monster", which is scheduled for a fall release. The CD was again produced by the Stanley and is, in KISS bassist/vocalist Gene Simmons' words, "either the best or one of the top three records we've ever done. It's like 'Revenge' meets 'Destroyer' — just guitar and drums, nothing else. No keyboards, no little boys' choir, no strings, no nothing. Band-written; literally we'd get in and strum guitars like the old days." The album "was written very fast," according to Simmons and includes one track, "Are You Ready?", that he describes as, "an old song that was torn apart and re-written." Other songtitles set to appear on the CD include "It's A Long Way Down", "Back To The Stone Age", "Shout Mercy", "Out Of This World" and "Wall Of Sound".
"I wasn't interested in making an album unless I was in charge and no one agreed to it half-heartedly," Stanley told Classic Rock magazine. "The band's all there, all the time, and we cut the tracks all facing each other in the same room. Chemistry and camaraderie, that's essential. That's what made [2009's] 'Sonic Boom' so great, and this album is thunderously better."
"Monster" will be accompanied by a "monstrous book" of the same name, an over-sized art book that Simmons told Billboard magazine "should weigh 100 pounds or more" and come with its own stand. "It's something you can't put on your coffee table, 'cause it'll crush it. It IS the coffee table."

GRAVE REVEAL NEW ALBUM ART
Swedish death metal legends GRAVE will release their 10th studio album Endless Procession Of Souls on August 27th in Europe and on August 28th in North America via Century Media Records. Recorded at Studio Soulless, Endless Procession Of Souls promises to be yet another death metal masterpiece in GRAVE's revered catalog, featuring ten tracks of uncompromising no-bullshit death metal, flawlessly executed by the sole survivors of the real legendary Swedish Dödsmetal scene. KAMELOT ANNOUNCE NEW SINGER
American/German symphonic metallers KAMELOT have announced the addition of Scandinavian singer Tommy Karevik to the group's ranks.
The general public may not be overly familiar with the 30-year-old Swede Karevik, but people in the industry know him as the immensely talented frontman of the Swedish band SEVENTH WONDER.
Commented KAMELOT guitarist Thomas Youngblood: "We had around 800 candidates for the vacant position, among them a number of really renowned musicians, and having to reject them really wasn't easy. We want to thank all the applicants, thank you for your understanding and we wish you all lots of success in the future!"
In their search for a new singer, Youngblood found YouTube to be an amazing tool: "I listened to a clip of a studio production featuring Tommy and have to confess that his performance really amazed me," he said. "His approach to melodies and themes suits KAMELOT perfectly, and during our European shows we had plenty of opportunity to find out what a great guy he is."
Tommy first appeared as one of the guest singers on KAMELOT's very successful 2011 Pandemonium World Tour (see footage below). Tommy states: "The tour was a lot of fun and I met a lot of nice people and got some good experience. The guys were super nice and we had a great time together! By then I was really into the band's music and had fallen in love with the amazingly loyal and dedicated fans at every show."
Karevik is thrilled about his new position. "I am so honored to now be a part of this family and I can`t wait to move into the new era of the band together with the guys," he said. "I fully understand that this comes with great responsibility and that it will be a big challenge for me as a singer as well as a person, but you can rest assured I will give it my all. From this day, a new journey has begun and I am really eager to meet you all along the way to share my passion for this music!"

IAN GILLAN & TONY IOMMI DEBUT "WHOCARES"
DEEP PURPLE's Ian Gillan and BLACK SABBATH's Tony Iommi took everybody by surprise in 2011 by releasing a charity single, "Out Of My Mind", renewing the collaboration that led the pair to record an album in 1984, "Born Again", under the BLACK SABBATH moniker. For the occasion, the two rock legends called a few friends and were soon joined by Jason Newsted (METALLICA, VOIVOD, FLOTSAM AND JETSAM), Jon Lord (DEEP PURPLE) and Nicko McBrain (IRON MAIDEN). Not only jamming together for the sheer fun of things, this new project has united for a cause — rebuilding and helping the music school in Gyumari, Armenia. The single was a joyful and inspired moment. Iommi and Gillan have now decided to make WHOCARES an album for their devoted fans. Classic songs and a lot of rarities and unreleased material in two CDs of fantastic rare music.
The single was a joyful and inspired moment. The spark to bring Iommi and Gillan in a studio, together again was to finance the rebuilding of a music school in Armenia they had visited together on various occasions in past years.
Far from being a spectacular charity project, WHOCARES was a nice gesture, done with class, from two musicians with nothing to prove, willing to support music, where music is considered a luxury.
"As I said once in the song 'Razzle Dazzle' (DEEP PURPLE's 'Bananas' album), 'It's a real fine line between an orgy of destruction and a wonderful time,'" Gillan tells PanArmenian.net about the forthcoming CD. "The destruction of conformity in this case: Some of these pieces never really fitted into their contemporary program and got side-lined or forgotten, and some of the album tracks never had much exposure. As the track listing for this album came together, I noticed many of the titles had character similarities; a combination of freshness as they finally felt the sun on their backs and rebellion in a 'yeah told you so' kind of way. And that adds up to a wonderful time. And that adds up to more money for the music school we are building in Armenia."
"And what about WHOCARES… this ad-hoc benefit band put together by Tony Iommi and myself on a flight home from Yerevan, where we'd been deeply humbled by the honors and expectations bestowed upon us. Well that's it really, in a nutshell, so to speak, what more can I say; it's all there in the music."
Among the tracks set to appear on the upcoming album are the two original WHOCARES songs; DEEP PURPLE's unreleased studio jam "Dick Pimple"; a song from REPO DEPO (a band Ian Gillan formed before the DEEP PURPLE reunion which never released any material); two previously unreleased songs from Tony Iommi featuring Glenn Hughes; obscure collaborations, B-sides lost on seven-inch vinyl; and exclusive live versions recorded live on radio.
The album is set for release on July 13 via earMUSIC..

GOJIRA TRACK BY TRACK
BREAKDOWN ON NEW ALBUM
The first in a series of video clips in which guitarist/vocalist Joseph Duplantier of French progressive metallers GOJIRA, gives a trakc-by-track breakdown of the band's fifth album, "L'Enfant Sauvage", can be seen here. The CD, which is available for streaming in its entirety at Australia's TheMusic.com.au web site, will be released on June 26 via Roadrunner Records.
"L'Enfant Sauvage" (which translates to "The Wild Child") features 11 tracks of mind-bending, thunderous metal. The CD was recorded at Spin Recording Studios in Long Island City, New York with co-producer Josh Wilbur (LAMB OF GOD).
In a recent interview with Metalshrine, Joseph Duplantier stated about the new album title, "We couldn't call it 'The Wild Child', because it's hard to translate 'L'Enfant Sauvage'. It's not really the wild child as understood in English, because a wild child for me, has an aspect like someone out of control somehow. 'L'Enfant Sauvage' in French… 'Sauvage' is something that is not educated or something that is like free and completely free in nature. A wild flower that goes wherever she wants and becomes something beautiful. The idea with 'L'Enfant Sauvage' is like with a human that would grow up in nature, raised by wolves, for example, without the influence from others and the influence from institutions or society in general. Without a social security number. [laughs] Not even a name. This is what you are and I am on the inside, right? How much the education and the culture, emotions and the guilt are interacting with us and it changes us and how far are we from this pure child inside? That's the question we had on this album."
A special collector's package of "L'Enfant Sauvage" will feature two bonus tracks and a double-colored vinyl version of the record, along with an exclusive t-shirt.

ROB ZOMBIE "MONDO SEX HEAD" RELEASE
Rob Zombie will release a new remix album titled Mondo Sex Head this August. Mondo Sex Head will see some of today’s top DJs — including Korn’s Jonathan “JDevil” Davis, Photek, the Bloody Beetroots, Drumcorps and Ki:Theory — putting their own signature spins on a selection of Zombie’s classic cuts.
“I like the idea of taking songs and reconfiguring them,” said Zombie about the album, who also revealed that the album will be preceded by two separate, digital-only EPs, with tracks taken from Mondo Sex Head and exclusive bonus tracks.
Mondo Sex Head is due out August 7 via Universal Music Enterprises.

Southern California's IN THIS MOMENT will release its fourth album, "Blood", on August 14 via longtime label Century Media Records. The CD was once again produced by Kevin Churko, who has previously worked with OZZY OSBOURNE and FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH, among others.
IN THIS MOMENT began work on the new album just a few months following the departures of drummer Jeff Fabb and guitarist Blake Bunzel, who left the band late last year in order to join the backing group of "American Idol" finalist James Durbin. DYING FETUS RELEASE NEW VIDEO
"From Womb To Waste", the new video from Maryland extreme metallers DYING FETUS, can be seen below. The clip, which features 12 camera angles from last month's live show at Maryland Deathfest at Sonar in Baltimore, Maryland, was filmed and directed by Scott Hansen (ANIMALS AS LEADERS, A DAY TO REMEMBER).
"From Womb To Waste" comes off DYING FETUS's new album, "Reign Supreme", which will be released on June 17 via Relapse Records. The CD, which was recorded at Wrightway Studios in Baltimore with longtime producer Steve Wright (SLIPKNOT, MISERY INDEX), will feature nine tracks and is "a 'return to roots,' with production focused slightly more on slam than in the band's last few works," according to a press release. "Thematically, the album is set to be a good old-fashioned piece of social and political commentary in the style of DYING FETUS as we have come to know."
Commented DYING FETUS guitarist/vocalist John Gallagher: "The last album had some groove in it, but [it] was basically a lot of tech; this one is a return to form of older DYING FETUS albums, so to speak — more modern production, though, of course. Everything's tight, the sound is crushing, the drums are amazing."

LAMB OF GOD RELEASE NEW VIDEO
"Desolation", the new video from Richmond, Virginia metallers LAMB OF GOD, can be seen below. The song comes off the band's latest album, "Resolution", which has sold 117,000 copies in the United States since its January release.
"Resolution" sold around 52,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to land at position No. 3 on The Billboard 200 chart. The band's previous CD, "Wrath", opened with around 68,000 units back in March 2009 to enter the chart at No. 2. This figure was roughly in line with the first-week tally registered by 2006's "Sacrament", which shifted around 63,000 units to debut at No. 8. It also represented almost double the amount of records sold by its predecessor, "Ashes Of The Wake", which premiered with 35,000 copies in September 2004.
"Resolution" was released in the U.S. via Epic and internationally through Roadrunner Records. The CD was recorded at various studios in Virginia and New York with producer Josh Wilbur, who worked on the band's last effort, 2009's "Wrath".
"Resolution" features 14 songs and comes in a digipack with artwork by longtime art director Ken Adams.

"Ghouldiggers", the new video from MINISTRY, can be seen below. The song comes off the band's new album, "Relapse", which sold 3,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 193 on The Billboard 200 chart. FOZZY NEW ALBUM COVER AND TITLE
FOZZY, the band featuring WWE wrestling superstar Chris Jericho and STUCK MOJO mastermind Rich "The Duke" Ward, has set "Sin And Bones" as the title of the follow-up to 2010's "Chasing The Grail", due on August 14 (one day earlier internationally) via the group's new label, Century Media Records. Speaking to U.K.'s Metal Hammer magazine, Jericho stated about how the new album title came about, "It's actually pretty funny. It's such a deep title and it can mean a lot of things. But how it really came about was Rich was texting me, saying, 'Man, I've gotta eat something on this tour. I'm all skin and bones.' And 'skin and bones,' he missed the [letter] 'k' and it came out [as] 'sin and bones.' And I showed it to him. I go, 'Dude, what do you think of this as an album title?' And he was like, 'Yeah, it's perfect.'"

Last week, FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH announced a suicide prevention initiative promoting the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline. MONSTER MAGNET TO PERFORM "SPINE OF GOD"
MONSTER MAGNET will perform its 1991 album, "Spine Of God", in its entirety on tour in November.
Commented MONSTER MAGNET mainman Dave Wyndorf: "'Spine' was our first full length album and a big learning experience for us. What I recall most, though was the subject matter. I was a teenager in the early '70s and my experiences and impressions of that time had stayed strong within me well into my mid-twenties. Like anyone, I would tell stories of my childhood days to new friends and acquaintances, but for some reason I could never really relate the almost mystical effect those days had on my adolescent mind.
"To me, the late '60s/early '70s were colorful, sexy, scary and WEIRD… but like, cool-weird, y'know? Biker movies, Acid Rock, Jim Steranko comics, the first BLACK SABBATH albums, THE STOOGES, HAWKWIND, black light posters, full frontal nudity, dope culture, muscle cars, the Manson murder trial, Hunter S. Thompson, Tom Wolfe, the Vietnam war and much, much more.
"I had some pretty strange adventures back then... hung out with some pretty strange characters as well. '60s Flower Power was dying, giving way to a hard-bitten, burned out new age. Yeah, the psychedelic imagery was still there… better than ever in fact. The drugs were there, too...MORE than ever, in fact. But the bottom line had changed...There was no political agenda with the New Jersey dirt bag-freak crowd I hung out with...no 'peace and love.' The whole point of the early '70s (it seemed to us) was to get as stoned as possible and blow our minds by any means necessary. And that's what we did.
"And I'm damned lucky to have kept my brain.
"In the late '80s, I began to write songs about my crazy teen-hood..it seemed to be the only way I could even adequately attempt to describe it... and when I joined MONSTER MAGNE, those songs became the foundation of the album, 'Spine Of God'. It's a distorted memoir of a time I thought would last forever but in reality was over before I could even understand it.

SLASH TO GET STAR IN HOLLYWOOD
The Hollywood Chamber Of Commerce has announced that Slash will be honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Tuesday, July 10 in front of Hard Rock Café on Hollywood Blvd.
"Slash is widely considered one of the greatest rock guitarists of all time," said Ana Martinez, producer of the Hollywood Walk Of Fame ceremonies, "We are proud to place his name among the stars on our fabled Hollywood Walk Of Fame."
In celebration of the star dedication, Slash will perform at a private acoustic performance and exclusive question-and-answer session with Slash and Myles Kennedy at Hard Rock Café Hollywood Blvd. after the ceremony. Fans will have the opportunity to win tickets to the exclusive show by listening to KLOS 95.5 starting June 25.
Hard Rock has created a limited edition pin to commemorate the historic occasion of one of rock n roll's most iconic guitarists receiving a star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame. STONE SOUR ANNOUNCE NEW ALBUM TITLE
STONE SOUR has set "House Of Gold And Bones" as the title of its fourth album, a two-part double concept effort which is being recorded at Sound Farm Studios, just outside STONE SOUR's home base of Des Moines, Iowa, with producer David Bottrill (TOOL, MUSE, STAIND). According to STONE SOUR singer Corey Taylor, part 1 will contain 12 songs and will be released in October via Roadrunner Records, with the second 12-track part to follow next year. Each disc will include one half of the story, the lyrics for which fans will have to visit the band's official web site. Taylor says, "Once I lock in the company who will help me put it together, there will be a comic book as well." Songtitles set to appear on the album include "Absolute Zero", "RU486", "A Rumor Of Skin" and "Taciturn".
When asked about the progress of the recording sessions for the fourth STONE SOUR album, Taylor told Kerrang! magazine at this past weekend's Download festival in England, "It's nearly done. We have about a week left of recording. I have a handful of vocals that I need to finish up. And then it's just going in and finishing up some guitars, some ear candy here and there. But it's fantastic. It's so immense. It's probably the biggest thing that I've tried to do. There's a lot of multimedia involved. There's a whole story that's gonna go along with the albums. And it's all under wraps right now. There's gonna be a bunch of big announcements next week that I'm gonna unleash on Twitter, and I'm just gonna start giving people more information, including the titles. But we're actually working on getting a comic together for DC Comics. We're trying to figure out how we can do it. And they've never done anything like this before, so it's gonna take some time. But hopefully… We're definitely gonna have a digital version up online and then probably a couple of months later the hard-copy version. So as a comic fan, I'm kind of losing my shit right now."
As previously reported, SKID ROW's Rachel Bolan laid down the bass tracks for the new STONE SOUR CD. He has described the material on the record as "fucking fierce."

FOZZY SET NEW ALBUM TITLE

Speaking to Sophie K of Total Rock at this year's Download festival, which is being held June 8-10 at Donington Park in Leicestershire, United Kingdom, Jericho said about FOZZY's new CD, "Every artist says this, but it's definitely the best thing we've ever done. It kind of takes the FOZZY concept of what we do best, which is very heavy with very melodic choruses and a lot of harmonies. We're just super-proud of it. We worked on it for the last eight months."
He added, "We said we wanna make this like our 'black' album where all the songs kind of fit the same vibe. They're kind of darker lyrically, darker songs, but still catchy and hooky. So I'm really proud of the lyrics that I wrote for this. When I write lyrics, I give them to Rich Ward, and he takes them and writes riffs and songs based around what he feels the tone of the songs are. And I guess the lyrics I wrote are very dark, because it's a very dark record."
When asked if the "darker" vibe of the new album is reflection of personal things that might have gone on in his life, Jericho said, "I don't think so. I've just always been more attuned to that. Like, I write by songtitles. I read somewhere something about somebody woke up with a spider in their mouth. And I was like, 'Spider In My Mouth'. That's like the best title I could ever think of. So I wrote a bunch of lyrics that kind of fit that vibe. So a songtitle will lead… The first single is called 'Sandpaper'. And it's not about a piece of paper that you rub on your face that chafes you, it's just about an abrasive type of a feeling that you might have toward somebody. So it's just stuff like that. But we still sing it with a smile on our faces."

BLACK TUSK HEADLINING EUROPEAN TOUR
Savannah, Georgia's BLACK TUSK, have confirmed that they will be heading back to Europe this summer for their first ever European headlining tour. Support on the tour will come from Okkultokrati. The tour is scheduled to begin July 8th in Köln, Germany and run through July 20th in Tonsberg, Norway with an appearance at Slottsfjell Fest.
BLACK TUSK are currently on the road and will be joining back up with Municipal Waste's headlining tour, which will also feature special guests 3 Inches of Blood. The dates with Municipal Waste run from June 11th in Anaheim, CA and wrap up June 26th in New York, NY.

HIGH ON FIRE PULL OUT OF ROCKSTAR MAYHEM
Oakland, CA metal band HIGH ON FIRE has announced that it will be forced to miss this summer's Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival as celebrated front man and guitarist Matt Pike (also of SLEEP) enters treatment for alcohol rehabilitation. The award winning power trio (also featuring drummer Des Kensel and bassist Jeff Matz) will put its scheduled touring plans on hold indefinitely as Pike takes the necessary steps towards regaining his health.
"High on Fire would like to thank everyone involved with the Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival for the opportunity to be a part of this year's tour," said the band in a statement.
"We regretfully will have to bow out as our friend and bandmate begins his recovery, but very much appreciate having been asked to be a part of this summer's festival run."
HIGH ON FIRE's new album De Vermis Mysteriis was released on April 3 via eOne Music and debuted at #61 on the Billboard Top 200 Chart in its first week of release. The album's charting position represents the highest of the band's storied 14 year career.

MEGADETH PELTED WITH ROCKS AT METALFEST
Megadeth performed an abbreviated set on Tuesday, June 5 at the Metalfest Open Air at Zadar Beach in Zadar, Croatia after members of crowd were flipping off the band and throwing stones and bottles at Megadeth following the cancelation of two of the festival's other main-stage acts.
Although there has been no official statement on the matter, it appears that Dark Tranquillity was forced to pull out of the event due to "technical problems," while W.A.S.P. refused to play following a rumored backstage disagreement with Megadeth over other technical issues.

KISS "MONSTER" BOOK UPDATE
KISS' official web site, KissOnline.com, the members of KISS got an up-close-and-personal look at a "finished proof" of the massive KISS "Monster" book last week and were quite impressed. Bassist/vocalist Gene Simmons was quoted as saying, "It's fantastic!" After vocalist/guitarist Paul Stanley had his first look, he said, "This book is way beyond my expectations. The photos are incredible at this size. It's not a coffee table book, it's a coffee table!"
The KISS "Monster" book is a retrospective featuring all the different eras of KISS in makeup, starting in the early years and continuing on to present day. "We selected photos that captured the absolute essence of being in and around a KISS concert," says guitarist Tommy Thayer.
"Ten different editions will be dedicated personally to the KISS Army of the biggest countries we've toured throughout the world," Tommy continues. "Each edition will feature a different cover featuring the flag of that nation and inside each book there will be a personally signed, dated and numbered dedication page from the band."
The book is presently being custom printed in Italy at EBS Editoriale Bortolazzi Stei, one of the finest book manufacturers in the world. Each individual copy will be handmade with no machines involved in the finishing and binding of the book. Each book will have a character and feel of its own, at the same time retaining explicit high production standards.

MARILYN MANSON's new album, "Born Villain", sold 38,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to land at position No. 10 on The Billboard 200 chart. The CD arrived in stores on May 1 via Cooking Vinyl and Manson's own label Hell, Etc.
MARILYN MANSON's previous album, "The High End Of Low", opened with 49,000 units back in May 2009 to debut at position No. 4 on The Billboard 200 chart. This was roughly half of the first-week tally registered by 2007's "Eat Me, Drink Me", which landed at No. 8 after selling 88,000 copies.
MARILYN MANSON's 2003 album, "The Golden Age Of Grotesque", entered the chart at No. 1 with first-week sales of 118,000.
