Doors opened at 7pm, show started promptly at 7:30 with CELESTIAL RUIN, this show happened to be Celestial Ruin “Single Release Party”, and they debuted new tracks off the new album. WOW!! You should have been there, this band deserves more attention than they are getting, they were tight up on stage, flawless, and so dedicated to giving the people 150%. Sorry everyone, but truthfully CR should have been the headliners tonight. The start of their set saw Larissa being helped out of a glass coffin by a cloaked figure, what a unique start to their set. The only problem here, it was too dark, I knew before hand it was Larissa, but all you saw were 2 shapes on stage. I would liked to have seen a single white light on her as she came out. Would have been so epic. It was very rare to see such a production like this. What you are about to hear is really more of a European symphonic metal, something that you don’t often hear out of a band here in Vancouver. Making them stand out above all others. And their whole set was executed to perfection, heavy, catchy, rock, all combined to give you one kick ass show.  You would never have known they hadn’t played in over 7 months. They hands down re-invented their stage show, well done Larissa Dawn (vocals), Eriz Crux (guitar), Mike “Dikk“ Dagenais (bass) and Adam Todd on the drums. Oh, and they did two cover songs, the first being "The Final Countdown" by Europe, and the 2nd being “Amaranth” by Nightwish, great job on both, but I will say that they have the talent to express their own musicianship here, you will see just how talented they are when the new album is released.

Formed in 2013 KILLING VOGUE is 4 guys that play hard rock out Vancouver, BC. Nick Allen (bass) and Nick Rusby (drums) started the band, then Paul Kim (lead guitar) joined, and finally frontman Jarod Piett. I didn’t know what to expect with this band as truth be told, I had not heard of them, and haven’t seen them on any of the bills we have covered before. What I heard was a stoner, blues, rock with a hint of technicality added it to give them their sound. They seemed to draw a crowd. They did a good job and put some hard work into playing to a small audience.

Headliner tonight is also a band from Vancouver, BC, LIARS AND LIONS consisting of Frazer Pelling (drums), Imaad Dalal (guitar and vocals), Devin Turner (bass), and Nick Waterman (guitar). What you can expect to hear is a hard rock modern progressive band with a hint of classic. Their intro was a song from Top Gun, and Imaad had those classic shades on for it. They played a good set, one that seemed to fill up the Venue alot, I am still not sure if all those girls that came in, came for them, or they were there for when the club side of it opened. As they were dressed for club life, not metal. ;) Not sure what I thought about Liars and Lions, as it didn't have me head banging, or tapping my fingers. But that’s me, everyone else seemed to enjoy themselves, and that's what it's all about, them creating a style for themselves and the fans.
