CHRIS CORNELL PASSES AWAY AT 52
BBC Sources have released early this morning that Chris Cornell's death is being investigated as a possible suicide, Detroit Police have told the BBC.

The singer died at the age of 52 after a concert in Detroit on Wednesday evening, his representatives announced.

In a statement, Cornell's representative Brian Bumbery said his death was "sudden and unexpected".

It also said the family would be working closely with the medical examiner to determine the cause and asked for privacy.

Cornell died shortly after playing a concert with Soundgarden in Detroit on Wednesday evening. A spokesperson for Detroit Police confirmed to the BBC that they received a call just after midnight (05:00 BST).

"He was found on the bathroom floor, our medical unit were called and he was pronounced dead on scene," a spokesperson said. "A family friend went to go check on him and observed him on the bathroom floor. The body was transferred to the medical examiner's office and the cause of death will be determined.

BETWEEN THE BURIED AND ME ANNOUNCE TOUR
To celebrate the ten-year anniversary of their classic album, Colors, BETWEEN THE BURIED AND ME will embark upon a special tour this September/October, which will see the band perform the record in its entirety! The Colors Ten Year Anniversary Tour features support from The Contortionist, Polyphia, and Toothgrinder.

BETWEEN THE BURIED AND ME comments: "Colors was our statement of rebellion. We were challenging how others identified us in the context of heavy metal, and ultimately, we were challenging how we identified ourselves. It was some kind of musical manifesto, in which we found new purpose and direction simply by throwing caution to the wind and purging every ounce of creative energy we had, regardless of how unhinged it may have seemed at the time. Ten years have passed and we are lucky enough to be able to play this album from front to back on stage for our amazing fans. See you all soon!"

Tickets go on sale to the public Friday, May 19th at 10:00am local time. Check local listings for details or visit @BTBAMOfficial on Facebook.

CARACH ANGREN RELEASE "CHARLIE" FROM UPCOMING NEW ALBUM

CARACH ANGREN are streaming the next wicked track of their forthcoming new album, 'Dance and Laugh amongst the Rotten'. The Dutch masters of horror metal have slated this haunting for June 16th.

"Charlie" is now streaming below:

CARACH ANGREN comment: "We proudly present the next track from our upcoming album 'Dance and Laugh amongst the Rotten' called 'Charlie'. It will draw you right into the first chapter of an unsettling journey, setting an ominous dark paranormal tone. 'Charlie' has everything and more of what you may expect from us: a darkness brought forth by unsettling haunting melodies, piercing riffs, and bloodcurdling storytelling."

1. Opening (2:17)
2. Charlie (4:10)
3. Bloodqueen (4:55)
4. Charles Francis Coghlan (6:07)
5. Song for the Dead (4:16)
6. In De Naam Van De Duivel (6:29)
7. Pitch Black Box (3:17)
8. The Possession Process (4:27)
9. Three Times Thunder Strikes (5:19)

The Dutch masters of horror are back with their most flamboyant album so far. On 'Dance and Laugh amongst the Rotten', CARACH ANGREN are painting musical pictures that easily combine the grandiose depth of a Rembrandt with Van Gogh's maelstrom of whirling colours and the utter madness of Bosch. This lusciously seductive danse macabre will drag you in and never let go.

CARACH ANGREN have employed all the sonic colours on their palette to dazzling effect. Their trademark whipping guitars are weaving harsh melodies and sinister soundscapes, which are beautifully contrasted by opulent keyboards and majestic orchestrations. That Till Lindemann (RAMMSTEIN) and Peter Tägtgren (PAIN) have called upon the composition talent of Clemens "Ardek" Wijers is a telling sign of his outstanding mastery of the craft. Another signatory counterpoint is provided by Seregor's fierce rasping and shrieking vocals. Adding to the impact, Namtar has become a relentless driving force with his hard hitting yet intricate drumming. Each track on this album is a highlight on its own, while combined 'Dance and Laugh amongst the Rotten' simply shines.

CARACH ANGREN set out to tell ghost-stories with a set of paranormal cases recorded on the demo 'The Chase Vault Tragedy' (2004). This was soon followed by the official release of the 'Ethereal Veiled Existence' EP (2005) as a prelude to the haunting 'Lammendam' (2008). The Dutch had a clear vision of combining a dark baroque style of metal with horror based lyrical concepts. Their sophomore full-length 'Death Came through a Phantom Ship' (2010) witnessed the band setting sail to bring their eccentric and capturing live performances to audiences and festivals all over Europe. In the wake of third album 'Where the Corpses Sink Forever' (2012), the haunting had reached the Americas and started to spread rapidly. This recorded added a serious side to the lyrics of CARACH ANGREN. While firmly remaining in the horror genre, their tales revolve around the evils of war. This mature streak was taken a step further with the fourth full-length 'This Is No Fairytale', which is on the surface a darker variation of the "Hansel and Gretel" story from the Brothers Grimm collection, but also deals with the too real topic of child abuse in a dysfunctional family.

With 'Dance and Laugh amongst the Rotten', CARACH ANGREN are returning to "pure" storytelling with episodes that are centered on a girl playing a little too long with her Ouija board. The Dutch have pushed their unashamedly theatric style to a new intense height. You do not believe us yet? Press play and unleash these radiant ghosts into your home…

DIMMU BORGIR PUT FINISHING TOUCHES ON UPCOMING RECORD

Guitarist Sven Atle Kopperud (a.k.a. Silenoz) of Norwegian symphonic black metallers DIMMU BORGIR spoke to Metal Shock Finland about the progress of the mixing sessions for the band's long-awaited follow-up to 2010's "Abrahadabra" album. "We're in the middle of it at the moment, but I would say it has even more variation than any of our previous albums," he said. "It's more epic and symphonic, it's more brutal, it's more black metal, it's more primitive. It includes everything that we are known for, and what's even better about it is that it has just come so easy. The challenge for us is always to shave off the stuff that we think is not good enough. So coming up with material is never really any problem; it's just to figure out which parts to use for songs. That's the challenge — to shave off the fat."

Asked if DIMMU BORGIR once again worked with British producer Russ Russell on the new album, Silenoz said: "This time, we have gone to Fascination Street Studios in Sweden with Jens Bogren. We felt it was time to just do something more organic for this type of a record, for this type of material we have, and to see what we could get out of his production skills, because we have always been fans of his mixes. We've also grown tired of all the digital type of sounding albums that come out here and there all the time. So we wanna go back to the roots in the sense that a drum kit should sound like a drum kit and a guitar should sound like a guitar and vice versa — you get my point. That's what we wanted to do this time."

In terms of the actual songwriting for the new album, Silenoz revealed that "I've done all the lyrics again, but for the musical part, I think we managed to split that pretty much three ways between Galder [guitar], Shagrath [vocals] and myself."

He continued: "After so many years being in a band together, you kind of know your spot really well — you know what your strengths are, what maybe your weaknesses are — and you kind of feed off each other's strengths instead of each other's insecurities. But, of course, being three alpha males in the kitchen, it always causes for a bit of a foodfight. But it shouldn't come easy all the time. It should be somewhat of a creative tension. I think that works in pretty much every artistic environment."

While Silenoz couldn't provide a firm release date for the new DIMMU BORGIR album, he predicted that the record would arrive before the end of the year. "If we keep somewhat to the schedule that we have in mind, I would personally estimate late summer, early fall release, if everything goes as planned," he said. "But it also comes down to timing and what the label thinks is smart strategically."

"It sucks to be sitting on this for another few months before people get to hear it, but I think once the fans sit down and actually listen to this album for real, they will understand that, okay, yeah, it sucked waiting for this for so many years, but it was definitely worth the wait," he added.

DIMMU BORGIR's new DVD, "Forces Of The Northern Night", will be released on April 14 via Nuclear Blast. The set will contain two of the band's live performances: their legendary show in Oslo, presenting DIMMU BORGIR on stage with the Norwegian Radio Orchestra and a bombastic choir, as well as their entire performance at Wacken Open Air festival in 2012 in Wacken, Germany with almost a hundred musicians on stage.

IN THIS MOMENT has completed work on the follow-up to 2014's "Black Widow" album and is planning a tentative summer release for the disc. Guitarist Chris Howorth told "The Cutting Edge Countdown" that a first single will likely arrive before the end of the month, adding that the album is "different and cool and I think it's a different step for us but that I think our fans are really gonna like."

Howorth said about the new CD's direction: "Stylistically, I think we went a little bit more raw, you know — like, not so much campiness like 'Sex Metal Barbie'. Not that there was anything wrong with that — we're always trying to experiment and do something different — but it's more serious, I guess, and a little more stripped down."

IN THIS MOMENT kicked off a new North American tour, dubbed the "Half God Half Devil" trek, on April 7 in Milwaukee. The road trip continues until May 6, where it ends at the Carolina Rebellion festiva

"The Holographic Principle" was released on September 30, 2015 via Nuclear Blast.

Asked how the heavier-sounding tracks on "The Holographic Principle" have been going over live on the band's current tour, Simone told A Music Blog, Yea!: "Amazing. There are some songs, like 'Beyond The Matrix' and 'Ascension', that just are really made to be live songs. And that's also a little bit how we kind of went about when we were writing the songs and finalizing them together with our producer, Joost [Van Den Broek], that we wanted these songs to become live songs. But then when we're on the stages, songs like 'Ascension' and 'Beyond The Matrix' [and] 'Divide And Conquer' are amazing live songs. The fans also really welcome those and go crazy. Yesterday, we had so many brutal-looking metalheads jumping up and down during 'Beyond The Matrix'. I'm, like, 'That's a pretty gay song, but okay.' [Laughs]"

ROBERT TRUJILLO'S SON TO FILL IN FOR KORN'S BASSIST

Due to "unforeseen circumstances," KORN bassist Reginald "Fieldy" Arvizu will be unable to make the band's upcoming South American tour in late April. Filling in for him will be Tye Trujillo, the 12-year old son of METALLICA's Robert Trujillo and member of NorCal group THE HELMETS.

Says KORN in a statement: "We are bummed Fieldy can't join us on this run but excited to do a few gigs with a young player like Tye. We look forward to welcoming our brother Fieldy back when we return to the States in May."

Tye Trujillo will play the following shows with KORN:

April 17 - Gran Carpa de las Américas - Bogota, Colombia
April 19 - Espaço Das Américas - São Paulo, Brazil
April 21 - Live Curitiba - Curitiba, Brazil
April 23 - Pepsi On Stage - Porto Alegre, Brazil
April 25 - Estadio Malvinas Argentinas - Paternal, Argentina
April 27 - Teatro Caupolican - Santiago, Chile

Fieldy will rejoin his KORN bandmates at the Carolina Rebellion festival on May 6.

The 52-year-old METALLICA bassist told The Huffington Post about Tye: "My son is an amazing bass player and a really great writer. The bass lines that he's writing and the riffs, I'm like, 'Man, I wish I had written that.' He's coming up with stuff on his own, but he's also been influenced by players like Jaco Pastorius, but also Miles Davis or BLACK SABBATH or LED ZEPPELIN. We even listen to bands like QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE and TOOL. He's like a sponge. He loves funk. He loves James Brown, he's this little 12-year-old who's soaking up and embracing all this different music and I can tell that it's helping him creatively in what he's writing with his band."

Tye reportedly started picking up the guitar when he was about six or seven years old. "He's great. He has his own ideas, and if I help him through a song, it's usually with arranging," Robert told Today Online. "It's a beautiful thing to see him confident in what he does... and when he has an exciting idea. It makes me happy. I am always there to advise him, but it's perfect because the strength of the songs he writes are the strength of his ideas."

THE HELMETS cite their influences as TOOL, ALICE IN CHAINS and METALLICA. And they're quite vocal about their hatred of pop music.

"We hate pop, we despise it," Tye Trujillo told Billboard last year. "It's all the same sound.

RAMMSTEIN REVEALS FIRST TRAILER FOR UPCOMING DVD

The first of three webisodes featuring behind-the-scenes footage from the making of "Paris", the new concert DVD and Blu-ray from German industrial metallers RAMMSTEIN, can be seen below. Due on May 19, the set was recorded in March 2012 at the then-named Palais Omnisports de Paris-Bercy in Paris (now AccorHotels Arena) during RAMMSTEIN's "Made In Germany" tour, and was helmed by the band's longtime collaborator, Swedish director Jonas Åkerlund. Åkerlund has also worked with METALLICA, SATYRICON, MADONNA and THE PRODIGY, among others.

21 years down the line, with the original lineup, the six East Berliners stand at the very apex of the rock world, achieving album and DVD sales in the millions, headlining festivals and major venues around the world and selling out shows in record time (the band's bill-topping appearance at New York's Madison Square Garden saw the 20,000 seats snapped up in just 20 minutes!)

Trafalgar Releasing had worldwide rights to "Paris" excluding Germany, Austria and Switzerland (which were distributed by NFP). The top-performing territories for Trafalgar Releasing were Russia, Latin America and Poland, helping to achieve over $1 million for the outfit. NFP's territories saw a grossing of almost $1.2 million across two screening dates, coming in second on Germany's weekend box office.

"Paris" has become one of Trafalgar Releasing's top music events following the worldwide screenings of "Roger Waters: The Wall" (which made almost $5 million at the global box office with top performing territories including Italy, Latin America, Czech Republic, France and Germany) and "One More Time With Feeling With Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds" (from acclaimed director Andrew Dominik, which achieved over $2.2 million). 2017 has also seen Trafalgar Releasing (in partnership with CinEvents) screen across the U.K. and selected European territories, a targeted release of "Ziggy Stardust And The Spiders From Mars" (alongside a new interview with the drummer from David Bowie's band produced by MOJO magazine), which made an impressive $240,000 from just 200 screens.

Marc Allenby, CEO of Trafalgar Releasing, has said on the success: "It was great to work so closely with RAMMSTEIN's management team on the release of 'Paris' — they helped us talk directly to the passionate fan base of the band, who came out to celebrate this truly unique event. We look forward to working on similar kinds of projects in the future and bringing music events to the big screen around the world.

Vincent recently told Ghost Cult about I AM MORBID: "It's been discussed off and on for a few years now, but, as they say, actions speak louder than words. While it was exciting to discuss, it was held off for a few years until I decided to go through some personal changes in my life, and really absorb the possibility of it happening. I went ahead and focused on my roots music, but this kept lingering, and now it's time for I AM MORBID to finally happen."

Regarding the I AM MORBID setlist, Vincent said: "Like everything I do, I want to make this special. This is very different from MORBID ANGEL. If you want to see a MORBID ANGEL show, you know where to go, but this isn't it. I'm only going to be performing songs that I wrote on this tour. If I didn't write it, we aren't playing it. We are going to throw in things, here or there, to make things more unique, but it's going to be one brutal show. I can promise you that.

RANCID AND DROPKICK MURPHYS ANNOUNCE SUMMER NORTH AMERICAN TOUR

Rancid and Dropkick Murphys have announced the co-headlining From Boston To Berkeley Tour, kicking off July 27 in Bangor, ME and wrapping August 26 in Southern California. The initial tour dates, cities and venues are listed below, with additional details to be announced in the coming weeks. Each night will culminate with Rancid and Dropkick Murphys on stage together for a joint encore.

The Bouncing Souls and Jake Burns open the July 27 - August 9 shows and The Selecter and Kevin Seconds open from August 11 - 26.

Tickets for most shows go on sale on sale Friday, March 10 at www.DropkickMurphys.com and www.RancidRancid.com, starting at 10:00 AM local time unless noted otherwise.

Check out the official From Boston To Berkeley Tour video here: https://youtu.be/x7_HTuERZu4.

Rancid and Dropkick Murphys have a long and important history together. Back in 1997, Rancid’s Lars Frederiksen came across a copy of Dropkick Murphys’ original EP at a friend's house. He turned it over to his bandmate and Hellcat Records president Tim Armstrong, who quickly snatched up the band for his new label.

"Rancid is looking forward to hitting the road with our brothers the Dropkick Murphys,” says Rancid’s Tim Armstrong. “We will end the night with DKM and us playing songs together. Look out for The Bouncing Souls, The Selecter, Kevin Seconds and Jake Burns to be on certain shows. SEE YA IN THE PIT!"

Rancid’s Lars Frederiksen says, "It's a long time coming with these two bands touring together. There is so much history between both of us that it should make for a great tour. We look forward to seeing all of our friends and family out there."

Dropkick Murphys’ Ken Casey comments, "This is a dream come true for Dropkick Murphys. Hopefully all the people coming to the shows will feel the same way. Rancid gave us our break - Tim signing us to his label, Lars producing our early albums...so much history and great memories. Now, literally sharing the stage together every night. This tour is going to destroy all others this summer!!!!"

The roots of Rancid are traceable back to Operation Ivy at 924 Gilman Street in Berkeley, CA. circa 1987. After Operation Ivy broke up, Tim Armstrong and Matt Freeman went on to form Rancid. In 1993, they signed with longtime producer, and label founder, Brett Gurewitz of Bad Religion and Epitaph Records, who would stay on with the band for the next 20 years as the band’s producer. Rancid (Tim Armstrong, Lars Frederiksen, Matt Freeman, Branden Steineckert) has stayed independent. They have their own independent booking agent, they’re on an independent record label, Hellcat/Epitaph, and they make their own t-shirts. 2017 will see the release of Rancid’s ninth studio album.

Dropkick Murphys are touring in support of their 11 Short Stories Of Pain & Glory album, released through the band’s own Born & Bred Records earlier this year. The album debuted at #8 on the Billboard Top 200 and was the #1 independently released album. There’s a feeling of purpose throughout the album, influenced by the band’s work with The Claddagh Fund, a charity the band established in 2009 to help support addiction recovery as well as children’s and veterans’ organizations. Dropkick Murphys--Al Barr, Tim Brennan, Ken Casey, Jeff DaRosa, Matt Kelly, James Lynch--are hands-on in raising funds, mentoring, and lending a helping hand with veterans, youth sports, and drug and alcohol rehabilitation. Many of the songs reflect these experiences, and the band’s sadness, anger and dismay at the opiate epidemic ravaging the country – in particular, Boston and New England — and also their feeling of pride and optimism at the sight of those who have turned their lives around. Dropkick Murphys have become ambassadors for their city. In Boston, it seems like everybody knows someone connected to the band whether by blood, friendship, or the time they shared a brew at a Bruins game. They've built a legacy that does Beantown proud.

BARDSPEC (IVAR BJORNSON) TO DEBUT ALBUM
BARDSPEC is the ambient project/band led by Enslaved composer/guitarist Ivar Bjørnson. This June, By Norse will release the debut album Hydrogen. Having launched at Roadburn in 2015, BARDSPEC has since evolved into a fully-fledged band, with Steve Austin on guitars/effects, David Hall presenting the live visual aspect of the project, with the layout created by Josh Graham (Soundgarden, Neurosis, IIVII, etc.).

BARDSPEC combines stirring, hallucinatory synth-sounds with mercurial guitar effects and hypnotic rhythms that navigate illusory landscapes. Field recordings, and other found-sounds also drift and evaporate into the ether. Working intuitively with these elements and with sharpened senses, attuned to inner impulses, this is immersive music that can exist anywhere and anytime within the minds of the listener.

Whilst BARDSPEC might essentially be the same brain and personality making the music, compared to Enslaved, it is a widely different entity. Thematically and sonically, BARDSPEC is about minimizing, subtracting, and meditating upon the simplest essence of "things;" the single points exemplified through song titles like "Bone," "Salt," and so on, the basic elements and foundations that make up the whole. There is an element of "space" in the music and the artwork, as a representation of the inner workings of the mind and the subconscious.

Inspired by the German masters Tangerine Dream, Klaus Schultze, and Conrad Schnitzler in addition to contemporary ambient music like Norwegian one-man-band Biosphere and abstract modern electronic music like When (Norwegian also), as well as the electronic/industrial-driven metal like Godflesh. Ivar describes the appeal and trance-inducing aspects of such music to him, "I remember listening to Richard Burmer and his album Mosaic from 1984. I thought I fell asleep but I was in a semi-lucid state where I still registered music - but not much else. At the end of side A there's an explosion so violent and extreme that I jumped two feet into the air and was totally shocked. The weird thing is, I couldn't remember it being there. When I revisited the music again it was just a little 'thud.' I was just experiencing a trance so deep into the music that this deviation from the pattern and frequencies in the foregoing half hour of monotony totally shocked me. I loved it!"

Roadburn Festival plays host to a very special public listening session of Hydrogen by BARDSPEC, a chance for people to hear the album from start to finish in advance of the official release date. This event shall take place on April 21st. More information incoming on the Roadburn website.

Hydrogen Track Listing:
1. Intro - Deposition
2. Bone
3. Fire Tongue
4. Gamma
5. Salt
6. Teeth (bonus track)

Hydrogen shall be released on June 23rd across all formats. The six-panel CD digipak is available as limited first press to 1000 including bonus track "Teeth." The double gatefold LP is limited to 500 black vinyl, and the digital format also including the bonus track.

Stone Sour are hot on the tour grind in anticipation of their upcoming album Hydrograd, due this June on Roadrunner Records. With the record out in the world weeks before this show, fans are all but guaranteed to catch some of the band’s strongest new material – which Taylor has promised is “the best album we've ever done.”

Rammstein’s new documentary, Rammstein: Paris, is screening in over 1,000 cinemas in 46 countries. The film was shot in March 2012 at the Accor Hotels Arena in Paris during Rammstein’s "Made In Germany" tour, and was helmed by longtime collaborator and esteemed Swedish director Jonas Åkerlund. The band is also reportedly working on new material, and has been performing a new song, "Ramm 4," a tribute to their past material, at live shows this year."
