WARREL DANE PASSES AWAY
Acclaimed heavy metal singer Warrel Dane, who achieved fame with the bands SANCTUARY and NEVERMORE, died on Wednesday (December 13) in São Paulo, Brazil. The American musician, who was in the process of making his second solo album, had a heart attack during the night and could not be revived.

Guitarist Johnny Moraes, who was a member of Dane's solo band, was with the singer around midnight when Warrel started to feel bad.

"He died in the night," Moraes told Brazil's UOL. "He was in the apartment where he stayed during the recording of the album when it happened. I gave him cardiac massage and we called the Mobile Emergency Care Service (SAMU), who came very fast, but when they arrived, he was already dead."

According to Moraes, Dane — whose Wikipedia page erroneously states he was 48 but who is believed to have been 56 — had a history of addictions and health issues. "His health was already very weak because of his diabetes and his problems with alcoholism," he said. "He was already facing a lot of health problems."

The instrumental parts for Dane's follow-up to 2008's "Praises To The War Machine" solo album were almost completed and he had begun laying down his vocals shortly before his death. The musicians in his solo band are thinking about finishing the record with guest singers as a posthumous tribute, but no decision has yet been made.

SANCTUARY guitarist Lenny Rutledge reacted to the news of Warrel's passing with a post on the band's Facebook page. "Today I wake up to the news that Warrel Dane has died," he wrote. "I don't even know what to say. My friend, brother and musical companion for over 30 years has passed away. I'm in total shock right now.

"I'm sorry for any close family or friends that had to hear the news on Facebook."

In a 2016 interview with Brazil's Imprensa Do Rock, Dane alluded to his alcoholism while answering a question about how he takes care of his voice. "The most important thing for a singer is you have to get a lot of rest, a lot of sleep," he said. "You have to drink a lot of water. You have to hydrate yourself. And you… I know I have a bad reputation about alcohol, but you kind of have to stay away. So I'm a little better now these days than I was. I know I have a bad reputation for drinking too much, but I don't so much anymore. And you just… you just have to realize your instrument and know your limitations and know your strengths. I used to, when I was younger, sing in the stratosphere — very high. As you get older, and I will completely admit this, I can't sing that high anymore. So now I focus on my strengths. And it's no secret that I'm a fan of goth music, so I love singing low."

NEVERMORE effectively split up in 2011 when guitarist Jeff Loomis and drummer Van Williams announced their departure from the band due to personal differences with Dane and bassist Jim Sheppard. Warrel later described NEVERMORE in an interview as "the greatest band that alcohol ever ruined."

Van wrote on Facebook earlier today: "So much to say, but can't find the words. Just solace in knowing we were friends again at the end of the day and that we enjoyed wayyyy more good times together than we did bad. Till we meet again, WD."

Loomis said in an Instagram post: "Rest in peace, Warrel. I will always cherish the good times we had together."

The British heavy metal legends have spent the last few months in the studio recording the follow-up to 2014's "Redeemer Of Souls" with the band's longtime collaborator Tom Allom, acclaimed British knob-twiddler Andy Sneap (MEGADETH, EXODUS, TESTAMENT, ACCEPT) and engineer Mike Exeter (BLACK SABBATH).

During an October 5 appearance on the "Trunk Nation" show on SiriusXM channel Volume, singer Rob Halford stated about the progress of the recording sessions for PRIEST's new disc: "We're almost done. We're in that final hurdle before we get to the finishing line. It is sounding monumental. It's gonna blow your socks off. We're thrilled. We've got this big metal monster looming in the background, about to drop early next year, with a world tour to coincide."

Asked what it has been like collaborating again with Allom, who produced every PRIEST release from "Unleashed In The East" (1979) through "Ram It Down" (1988), along with several live records since then, Halford said: "Brilliant. Absolutely fantastic. Tom has a rich history with PRIEST, particularly those great moments with 'Screaming For Vengeance', 'Defenders Of The Faith' [and] 'British Steel'. My God — he's the man in that respect. So I thought it was really great for Andy Sneap and Mike Exeter to accept that this was gonna be like a three-man job, with Andy mostly holding the reins, but with Tom by his side and Mike there [as well].

"It's an unusual way to make this kind of record for PRIEST, because it's generally the producer and the band," Halford admitted. "We just had so much faith in Andy and in Tom and Mike that we said, 'Guys, you go for it. You tell us what to do.' And if Andy Sneap said, 'Do another take, Rob. Do another take, Rob. Do another take, Rob. '… I've never sung so much in the studio behind a mic in all my life. But he got the results that we needed, and I think I can say the same for Glenn [Tipton, guitar] and for Richie [Faulkner, guitar] and for Scott [Travis, drums] and for Ian [Hill, bass]. So he got something out of us — they all did — but they got something out of us truly remarkable, and you're gonna be hearing it very soon."

Sneap, who plays guitar in the reactivated British occult metal act HELL, recently told Serbia's Hardwired magazine that PRIEST had "about twenty-six ideas" in the early stage of the production process for the new album. "We've whittled [that] down to fourteen or fifteen," he said, adding that "we haven't decided on which songs [will make the final cut] or a running order for the album yet."

Andy went on to say that PRIEST's new album will contain "a really good energy and some real classic moments." He said "Rob did great" during the album's final recording sessions. "I'll tell you what: for someone who's got that much experience, there's no ego there at all," he said. "We'd do, like, six or seven passes, and I'd ask him to try something a bit [different] on this part, and he was, like, 'No problem.' And he'd give me another four takes with a slightly different vibe. And then me and Tom Allom would sit there and we'd comp it, and we pretty much agreed on everything."

PRIEST was nominated for induction into the 2018 Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame, part of a list of nineteen potential candidates.

Inductees into the 2018 Rock Hall will be voted on by a group of more than nine hundred artists, historians and music-industry professionals.

The 2018 inductees will be announced in December and the induction ceremony will be held at Cleveland's Public Auditorium on April 14, 2018

SAXON TO RELEASE DECADE OF THE EAGLE IN DECEMBER
BMG are proud to announce the release of SAXON - DECADE OF THE EAGLE - a deluxe anthology featuring 34 tracks, that looks back at the years that built the Saxon legend.

Additionally, a 1 CD and 1 LP version will be made available for North America, tracklist is below.

BMG in North America will release the 1 CD, 1 LP versions and and then a limited number of the 4 LP editions on Friday, December 1st, 2017.

Decade Of The Eagle is a retrospective that spans the band’s first nine albums and represents the very best of the first decade of their astonishing career during which time they notched up five Top 40 albums and four Top 20 singles.  These 4LP and 2CD deluxe editions feature new liner notes by frontman Biff Byford that document the decade and which are accompanied by rarely seen and classic photos from the era.

Biff says: “These are the albums from a time in the eighties that moved a generation of rock fans around the world, when British rock was once again at the forefront.   Great times - never to be forgotten and still reverberating to this day.”

Saxon played a significant part of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal movement, perhaps the greatest metal genre of them all and have become one of the all-time masters of heavy metal.  In doing so, Saxon have ensured they are now representative of the heart and soul from the NWOBHM time.  Always remaining true to the values which established them in the first place they are driven by a desire to continuously set the highest standards and meet them head on, Saxon's work on those nine studio albums still resonates resoundingly - this is timeless stuff.

Saxon’s music that will continue to inspire Metalheads for generations to come, as it has influenced so many until now. In those immortal words, fill your heads with... HEAVY METAL THUNDER!

From being pioneers of the New Wave Of British Heavy Metal, to becoming one of the most successful UK rock acts of all time, Saxon have always transcended definitions, trends and eras. From 1979's 'Saxon' album to 'Destiny' in '88, the band enjoyed considerable success both in the UK and further afield.  It's no wonder their influence has spread across the globe, and played a crucial role in the way we look at hard rock and heavy metal today. The decade from '79's debut record was vital, not only in establishing Saxon's talent and reputation, but also in laying the foundations for what has followed.

DRIVE TO RELEASE IDEFI

Hailing from Houston, Texas, Drive was formed by Rick Chavez (guitar/vocals/songwriter) when he was barely out of high school.  Chavez led the band with his extraordinary guitar technique and amazing ability to tell stories with his songs. The twin axe attack was accompanied by guitarists Mercy Valdez and later Mike Conde, (when Valdez left the band for personal reasons.) Drive was fronted by the unique and remarkable vocal range of David Taylor and rounded out by the pounding fury of bassist Michael Anthony Guerrero and hyperactive drumming of Valentin San Miguel. Included on some of these never before released tracks are the talents of booming bass player Michael E. Ribeiro and the skilled drumming technique of Carlos Cervantes.

On June 25, 2009, singer David Taylor lost control of his vehicle after a tire came off, causing him to crash. He was airlifted to an area hospital where he died of his injuries five days later.  Upon hearing of Taylor’s passing, 20th Century Music label heads Kai Brockschmidt and Dave Tedder reached out to Chavez via Facebook to offer condolences and a virtual relationship began. Brockschmidt had first become a fan of the band when he grabbed a vinyl copy of Characters In Time in 1988. They asked Chavez if there were any unreleased songs, but devastated by the loss of his brother and singer, Chavez wasn’t ready to talk music.

“Been literally looking for Rick's whereabouts for ages as Drive have always been one of my fave bands. There are only few bands around with this amount of talent. We are proud to be part of the Drive family now!” – says Brockschmidt

Brockschmidt kept in touch with Chavez and as time went on he started to share the unreleased songs with him. Brockschmidt and his partner in crime Dave Tedder were eager to start a conversation about releasing an album but Chavez, still mourning the loss of his bandmate and brother, wasn’t ready. A few years went by and Chavez woke up one morning and recalled a dream about Taylor he had the night before. He called bandmates Guerrero and San Miguel and told them it was time to release the songs as a tribute to the life and legacy of David Earl Taylor.

During the production of the IDEFI album, Rick Chavez unexpectedly passed-away from an internal bleed that was undetected until it was too late.  Joining his singer and friend on the other side, the album is now a tribute to them both.

IDEFI is 15 unreleased songs that include both Taylor and Chavez taking the lead on vocals. The band’s signature style is intact with a sound that brims with pride, an unrelenting fighting spirit, and fierce determination.  Although these songs were recorded over 20 years ago, the thought-provoking lyrics still resonate today with a musical backdrop that roars with power and precision. Drive’s IDEFI offers a lethal dose of melodic power.

Drive originally came together when its members were barely out of high school.  In the late ’80s, the band moved to Los Angeles, which was quickly becoming the epicenter of the current rock scene. Winning a radio contest with their song “I Need The Nights,” Drive landed on KNAC radio’s Best Of The West compilation that was released on Rampage Records. Soon after that release, Rampage signed the band, and in July of 1988, released their debut, Characters In Time. The album received tremendous reviews from the industry’s top rock press, including the coveted 5 “K” rating from Kerrang! Magazine. Characters In Time was followed by their 1992 album, the sonically advanced Diablero on Zoo Records. “Not only do the lyrics convey all the mystery and poignant emotion that the title implies, but the music is stellar. These songs ooze with divine vocal melodies, powerful-yet-melodic twin-guitar riffs, consistently catchy hooks, and an impeccable use of dynamic contrasts.” said True Metal Lives.

What separated Drive from most of the bands of the Sunset Strip was their intelligent lyrics, intricate musicianship and dynamic vocals. What endeared them to the rock critics and fans alike was that they were more Iron Maiden than Poison, more Judas Priest than Winger, but with a strong and original voice of their own.  Unfortunately, a shake-up at the label left Diablero without much of a push.

Chavez continued to write and record but the songs were never released, until now.

MORBID ANGEL SET TO RELEASE NEW RECORD

Death metal veterans MORBID ANGEL will release their new album, "Kingdoms Disdained", on December 1 via UDR Music. Recorded at Mana Recording in St. Petersburg, Florida with producer — and former MORBID ANGEL guitarist — Erik Rutan, the LP marks the band's first release with drummer Scott Fuller (ANNIHILATED, ex-ABYSMAL DAWN) who joined MORBID ANGEL last year following the departure of Tim Yeung. It is also be MORBID ANGEL's first album to feature bassist/vocalist Steve Tucker since 2003's "Heretic".

"Kingdoms Disdained" will include the song "Warped", which MORBID ANGEL performed live on its recent U.S. tour.

Tucker, who is back for his third spell with the group, told "The Metal Magdalene With Jet" show about MORBID ANGEL's approach on the upcoming album: "It was really just about writing music — it was just about writing a MORBID ANGEL album. Nobody said, 'Hey, we wanna go in this direction,' nobody said anything. I mean, there's obvious things there. I've said it before — I'm a death metal guy, so, for me, it's gonna be a death metal album; if I'm on it, it's death metal. So it was just about making a MORBID ANGEL album. It was really about coming in with something new, something fresh, but yet it still being MORBID ANGEL. Really, honestly, we didn't approach this any differently than any of the other albums I was involved in except for maybe [1998's] 'Formulas Fatal To The Flesh', which 'Formulas', Trey [Azagthoth, guitar] wrote all the music, all the lyrics and things like that. But this was done more similar to maybe [2000's] 'Gateways To Annihilation', where everybody had their contribution. Trey wrote a bunch of songs, I wrote songs, Scotty contributed some ideas. There was a lot of back-and-forth. In the end, it has to become a MORBID ANGEL song. And at this point, I feel that it's very much a MORBID ANGEL album."

MORBID ANGEL in January announced the addition of Dan Vadim Von (guitarist/frontman of the American death metal band VADIMVON) to the band's lineup on second guitar. He joined the group as the replacement for Norwegian guitarist Destructhor (a.k.a. Thor Anders Myhren), who left the band two years ago

TOM PETTY PASSES AWAY

He died peacefully at 8:40 p.m. local time surrounded by family, his bandmates and friends. Petty and his longtime band the Heartbreakers had recently completed a 40th anniversary tour, including stops in Vancouver, Toronto and Ottawa this past summer. He had hinted the tour would be their last.

"I'm thinking it may be the last trip around the country," Petty told Rolling Stone last year. "We're all on the backside of our 60s. I have a granddaughter now I'd like to see as much as I can. I don't want to spend my life on the road. This tour will take me away for four months. With a little kid, that's a lot of time."

Usually backed by the Heartbreakers, Petty broke through in the 1970s and went on to sell more than 80 million records.

The Gainesville, Fla., native with the shaggy blond hair and gaunt features was loved for his melodic hard rock, nasally vocals and down-to-earth style. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, which inducted Petty and the Heartbreakers in 2002, praised them as "durable, resourceful, hard-working, likeable and unpretentious."

WARREL DANE ANNOUNCES NEW ALBUM DUE IN 2018

WARREL DANE, legendary vocalist of Sanctuary and Nevermore, will return with his second solo album, currently created under the guidance of renowned producer Roy Z (Bruce Dickinson, Halford, Helloween, Sebastian Bach) in 2018.

Titled “Shadow Work”, the album is the follow up to the 2008's acclaimed, "Praises to the War Machine", and stylistically strays away from its predecessor, which leaned towards a goth-tinged, less metallic rock sound. First rough mixes already reveal that “Shadow Work” will offer darker, heavier, more complex songs, occasionally flirting with extreme metal by incorporating such elements as blast beats and combining this with WARREL DANE’s unique, dramatic trademark vocals.

As with the previous WARREL DANE solo tours, including the 15th anniversary tour celebrating Nevermore’s classic, “Dead Heart in a Dead World”, the line-up for the record will consist of Johnny Moraes (guitars), Thiago Oliveira (guitars), Fabio Carito (bass) and Marcus Dotta (drums), who all have been playing with the Dane since 2014.

“Shadow Work” will be recorded during Autumn 2017 and is expected to be released in the first half of 2018 via CENTURY MEDIA RECORDS worldwide.

Zev Deans comments: "After crawling through abandoned buildings, crashing our van into a tree in the middle of a scene, witnessing a real stabbing and drenching ourselves in fake blood in a derelict park at 5am, we can safely say this was a proper introduction to the slasher genre for Panorama Programming. We brought a slab of fresh meat back from a rotting metropolis, and we're serving it to you raw. Come and get it."

Many words come to mind when you hear the name Cannibal Corpse, but one truly defines the soon-to-be thirty-year death metal veterans: Unstoppable. Produced by Erik Rutan (Hate Eternal, Goatwhore), Red Before Black serves to not only reiterate this but to once more raise the stakes, making it very clear who sets the standard when it comes to always compelling music that is equally brutal and complex. Moreover, the band have pushed themselves again, ensuring that it stands out from their catalog. "Throughout our career we've tried to improve the precision of both our musical execution and our album production, while still maintaining full-on aggression. 'Red Before Black' continues in that direction, but might go even further on the aggressive side of things. It's definitely precise, but it has a rawness to it that goes beyond anything we've done recently," asserts bassist Alex Webster. "We really worked super hard crafting these songs, practicing them, and getting them where we wanted to be more so than on any of our previous albums," adds drummer Paul Mazurkiewicz. "And as Alex said, musically I think it's the most raw sound we've had - and at the same time I think it's our most focused, tightest and catchiest record."

ABYSMAL DAWN SIGN TO SEASONS OF MIST
Season of Mist are proud to announce the signing of ABYSMAL DAWN. The Californian extreme metal stalwarts will release their much anticipated fifth album through Season of Mist.

ABYSMAL DAWN comment: "We're very happy to be signed to such an awesome and respected label like Season Of Mist. The people there are all die-hard metalheads and we're glad to be a part of such an enthusiastic and strong team. We also have a long standing friendship with US label manager Gordon Conrad, who originally signed us. Working with Gordon, Michael, and the other amazing people at the label was just a no-brainer. We're very excited about the future of ABYSMAL DAWN these days, and judging by the new material that we've been working on, some great things are to come soon enough."

ABYSMAL DAWN were founded in the year 2003. Hailing from Los Angeles, California, USA, the band set out to combine the brutality and hooks from old school death metal with the more atmospheric and melodic approach of the more modern bands of that time. Their first declaration of intent, a three-song demo released in winter 2004 garnered early interest within the underground scene and invitations to perform alongside such established headliner as HATE ETERNAL, ABORTED, and others.

With their debut full-length, 'From Ashes' (2006), ABYSMAL DAWN immediately made bigger splashed and gained international recognition. The release was followed by a first US tour supporting SIX FEET UNDER and DECAPITATED as well as many more shows.

Subsequently, ABYSMAL DAWN experienced some changes in their line-up, which left Charles Elliott as the only original member. The reformed band entered studio in August 2010 to record 'Leveling the Plane of Existence', which was unleashed in the following year. Mixed and mastered by Erik Rutan (CANNIBAL CORPSE, HATE ETERNAL), their third full-length featured guest-appearances by Moyses Kolesne (KRISIUN) and Kragen Lum (HEATHEN), who both contributed guitar solos. A tour with CANNIBAL CORPSE and EXHUMED underscored the band's growing status.

ACT OF DEFIANCE DEBUTS NEW MUSIC VIDEO

Act Of Defiance - the heavy metal group featuring the veteran talents of Chris Broderick on guitar, Henry Derek on vocals, Shawn Drover on drums and Matt Bachand on bass - will return with their new album, Old Scars, New Wounds, on September 29th via Metal Blade Records. After slamming back into the metalscape with their first video/single "M.I.A.", Act Of Defiance is back today with a second new music video/track, "Overexposure". Directed by Vince Edwards, the melodic scorcher is backed with fast-paced imagery of the band members in their finest form - churning out a precise metal assault! Watch here: metalblade.com/actofdefiance - where you can also pre-order the album in the following formats:

--CD
--180g Black Vinyl
--Golden Vinyl (EU exclusive - limited to 100 copies)
--Auburn Marbled Vinyl (US exclusive - limited to 300 copies)

On Old Scars, New Wounds, Act Of Defiance has upped the ante. Each of the 11 new tracks sound fresh and urgent while wielding a timeless quality that will connect powerfully with metal fans new and old - and there aren't many contemporary bands who can make such a claim. Naturally blending a plethora of metallic styles and never recycling ideas, Old Scars, New Wounds is an even more dynamic and diverse collection than its predecessor. The title - plucked from the blistering track "Conspiracy Of The Gods" - stands as a metaphor for life in general, and the breadth of lyrical matter covered is as broad as the styles of heavy music found on the record.

Old Scars, New Wounds track-listing:
1. M.I.A.
2. Molten Core
3. Overexposure
4. The Talisman
5. Lullaby of Vengeance
6. Circle of Ashes
7. Reborn
8. Conspiracy of the Gods
9. Another Killing Spree
10. Broken Dialect
11. Rise of Rebellion

Going into writing the record, the quartet had no grand plan, and spread across the continental US, the individual members worked separately, bouncing demos back and forth and building on each others' ideas. Like many contemporary bands, through taking advantage of available technologies they made a record that is very much a collaborative effort, despite the distances lying between the members' home bases. Recruiting producer Dave Otero (Cattle Decapitation, Allegaeon) they tracked the record likewise, with Broderick laying down guitars in his own Ill-Fated Studios in LA, Derek and Broderick's vocals tracked at Red Light Studios also in LA, with Bachand tracking his contributions at Manshark in South Hampton, MA and Drover's drums were laid down at Atlanta's Glow In The Dark Studios.

Having proven themselves on the road in support of Birth And The Burial both as headliners and supporting the likes of Killswitch Engage, Hellyeah, and Hatebreed, the band are looking ahead to the expansive touring that will accompany Old Scars, New Wounds, and their hunger to get back in front of crowds has not abated in the slightest. Upcoming touring plans are set to be announced very soon.

Stay tuned for more news, tracks and videos coming from Act of Defiance, in anticipation of the release of Old Scars, New Wounds.

Act of Defiance line-up:
Chris Broderick - guitar
Henry Derek - vocals
Shawn Drover - drums
Matt Bachand - bass

EXHUMED RELEASES NEW VIDEO

Gore Metal maniacs EXHUMED have shared the official music video for “Lifeless” off the impending, new full-length album Death Revenge. Watch the horror-filled video now via Loudwire and YouTube, or check out the video below:

Frontman Matt Harvey commented:

"Following sequentially through the album's tracklist, we are stoked to lay "Lifeless" on you. "Defenders of the Grave" is the introduction for the tale of "Death Revenge" and "Lifeless" sets the actual plot that continues for the rest of the record in motion. Fitting with the vibe of the storyline as a whole, the clip focuses more on story elements and vibe rather than close up shots of guitar-noodling. I think it sets the tone nicely. Cheers!"

Listen to a track from "In Extremis" at: https://youtu.be/PkOqzLUXPAU

Touted as a "demonic mutation of Krisiun and Behemoth with shades of Immolation", AZARATH stand up to their wicked name. The band's death metal is crisp, black, and while it possesses the charm of their American counterparts, it remains open-minded and organic. This should not come as a surprise, considering AZARATH's impressive line-up and cemented position as one the the best Polish acts of the genre. The band was formed in 1998 by drummer Inferno (of  Behemoth fame). He's accompanied by Bart (Armagedon, Damnation) on guitars, and Peter (ex-Lost Soul) on bass.

Meaning "at the point of death" or "under extreme circumstances" in Latin, "In Extremis" is yet another apex reached by AZARATH. Offering a vehement ride through the netherworlds, the effort places the band back at the fore of the genre, with strong ties to the group's early cult albums. The eerie painting that adorns the album's cover was made by Marta Promińska (Hypnagogic Painting).

POP EVIL WORKING HARD IN THE STUDIO AND MORE

American rock band POP EVIL have been hard at work in the studio this summer working on an all new LP due out early next year. The band has brought on veteran producer Kato Khandwala and have been hard at work since early June. The band spent most of the summer in Nashville, TN at Studio A in Sound Emporium Studios and will finish up the album in Los Angeles, CA in the coming weeks.

“The band is in such a great creative groove right now!” says frontman Leigh Kakaty. “After taking much-needed time off, we started the writing process in Michigan this past April and May, before heading to the Sound Emporium in Nashville.  We have recorded close to 20 songs for the album and are now narrowing down our choices before heading to L.A. to finish the record. Our producer Kato has been a blessing and a pleasure to work with, and he’s the best devil’s advocate we’ve had in the studio!”
The band has released a short studio video which premiered via SiriusXM Octane earlier this week.

The yet to be titled LP will be the highly anticipated follow up to UP, which debuted at #1 on the Billboard US Independent Albums, #3 on the Billboard Top Hard Rock Albums and #25 on the Billboard Top 200 in the week of its release. UP produced four top 5 singles with "Footsteps," "If Only For Now," "Ways to Get High" and "Take It All.” “Footsteps” not only reached number one but went on to be the longest #1 single of the band's career.

Kakaty continues, “It’s been the smoothest recording process to date, and we’ve been taking our time and giving each song its due diligence. One thing I can say is you will get a little bit of everything from us on this album. We’re letting all our emotions out on this one. No boundaries. New Pop Evil music is on the horizon!”

The band hasn't’ let up on its road dog reputation, virtually staying on the road for the past two years since their last LP. POP EVIL will continue that trend and be on the road all summer starting with two SOLD OUT shows at The Machine Shop in Flint, MI. Other highlights include supporting BUSH at the Blue Stream Amphitheater in Moorhead, MN, STURGIS 2017 with Ozzy Osbourne, Moonstock Music Festival with Papa Roach and RIFF Fest with Rob Zombie.

I genuinely love what we have made, and cannot wait for you to hear it! We are two weirdos that hope we can call upon all the rest of the weirdos in the world to join in on our fun."

Montgomery adds: "Finally it's party time! We figure after a few years of building this Frankenstein in the garage, we should let it get out and walk around a little. Maybe someone will try to beat it up, Maybe someone else will fall in love with it, who knows? But it's out there and it's loose, and you never know where it will turn up!"

ENSLAVED UNVEIL NEW ALBUM DETAILS FOR "E"

We will release our new studio album »E« on October 13th, 2017 and with this 14th full-length record, we herald a new chapter in the our history. To provide a first taster of what's to come, we are happy to now unveil our debut music video for the 10 minute long single 'Storm Son' that melds mesmerising prog with jarring extreme metal and a folky atmosphere. The music video was designed by Josh Graham, who previously worked with SOUNDGARDEN and NEUROSIS among others, and delivered a truly spectacular piece of animated art that you can watch here:

"'Storm Son' deals with the duality of man and nature, how important and basic that relationship is," explains songwriter and guitarist Ivar. "Everything we do and create are imitations of nature; as we evolved from nature, that is how it must be – yet modern man thinks he and she is independent of nature, that we somehow are so superior that we do not have to take nature into consideration other than as a backdrop for shitty movies. Or festivals. Losing touch with nature is basically to lose touch with being human."

ACT OF DEFIANCE TO RELEASE NEW ALBUM SEPTEMBER 29TH

On Old Scars, New Wounds, ACT OF DEFIANCE has upped the ante. Each of the 11 new tracks sound fresh and urgent while wielding a timeless quality that will connect powerfully with metal fans new and old - and there aren't many contemporary bands who can make such a claim.

Naturally blending a plethora of metallic styles and never recycling ideas, Old Scars, New Wounds is an even more dynamic and diverse collection than its predecessor, which was written solely by Broderick and Drover prior to recruiting bassist Matt Bachand and vocalist Henry Derek. With a fully-seasoned, tour-hardened band in place, there was room for everyone to bring something to the table this time around, and their varying styles helped shape the record.

The title - plucked from the blistering track "Conspiracy Of The Gods" - stands as a metaphor for life in general, and the breadth of lyrical matter covered is as broad as the styles of heavy music found on the record. "Another Killing Spree" looks at hardcore drug use, while "Lullaby Of Vengeance" is an angry song about singing angry lyrics, and "Overexposure" is an anthem dedicated to not selling out. There is also some very topical material, most notably on "Mis-Information Age" and "Broken Dialect".

"'Mis-Information Age' is very applicable in today's social climate, where we can no longer blindly trust the source of facts that determine our view," Broderick explains. "It asserts that we should be skeptical, making sure we have the truth and not someone's propaganda, while 'Broken Dialect' conveys the idea that people can no longer hold a conversation with each other where their views differ, instead turning to sources that only support the view they want to hold on to."

With every track featuring a blistering solo from Broderick, fans of his shredding can rest assured that the guitarist has not held back - though that was not his initial intention. "I actually wanted to tone it down a bit technically in terms of my solos, but the opposite happened! This was because I inadvertently ended up creating a few new techniques to use in my trick bag and saw their potential, so I worked really hard on the execution so they could make the record."

Old Scars, New Wounds track-listing:
1. M.I.A.
2. Molten Core
3. Overexposure
4. The Talisman
5. Lullaby of Vengeance
6. Circle of Ashes
7. Reborn
8. Conspiracy of the Gods
9. Another Killing Spree
10. Broken Dialect
11. Rise of Rebellion

EXHUMED ANNOUNCE PRE-ORDERS AND MORE FOR UPCOMING RECORD

Lock the mausoleum doors and chain up the cemetery gates. Long-standing gore metal maniacs, EXHUMED re-emerge with their disgusting new album Death Revenge. The band's sixth full-length sees them tread into ambitious new territory with their first concept album: a musical melodrama in thirteen parts based on shocking true events. Death Revenge takes place in the late 1820s in Edinburgh, Scotland and tells the macabre tale of a series of brutal murders where the victims' cadavers were sold to anatomists, amid a grisly underground trade of grave-robbery. Recorded with producer Jarrett Pritchard (Goatwhore, Eternal, Gruesome), Death Revenge takes the band's signature gore-drenched, death metal mayhem to theatrical and ghastly new depths. Cover illustration is by Orion Landau with interior illustrations by Lucas Ruggieri (lucasriggieriillustration.com)

Frontman Matt Harvey comments: "We're very excited to see this record come out. It's been a long time since we've fucked up your stereos! I think this record has a darker vibe than the last two, with a pretty gnarly tale of grave-robbery, dissection, murder, and all sorts of general skullduggery. We dig it and we hope you filthy animals will too."

Death Revenge is set for release on October 13th on CD, LP, deluxe LP with cassette, and digital formats via Relapse Records. Physical packages and digital orders are available via Relapse.com and Bandcamp.

Death Revenge Track Listing:
1. Death Revenge Overture
2. Defenders Of The Grave
3. Lifeless
4. Dead End
5. Night Work
6. Unspeakable
7. Gravemakers Of Edinburgh
8. The Harrowing
9. A Funeral Party
10. The Anatomy Act Of 1832
11. Incarnadined Hands
12. Death Revenge
13. Death Revenge Underture (Bonus Track)
14. A Lesson In Violence (Bonus Track)

San Jose's EXHUMED has blazed a path for modern-sensible old-school death metal since the band's 1991 formation, when the band's founder and sole remaining member Matt Harvey was a tender fifteen years old. EXHUMED spent much of the ensuing decade hacking their way through numerous line-ups, demos, split CDs, and EPs. In 1998, the band finally released their debut album, the genre-(re)defining and critic-repulsing Gore Metal. The album crystallized the sound -- old-school death metal meets full-on grindcore with the spirit of thrash -- forged with their 1994 demo and first split CD (Horrific Expulsion Of Gore and 1996's In The Name Of Gore respectively). The band envisioned the three releases as a trilogy of sorts.

After six years away from the scene and numerous other projects, Harvey, former members guitarist Wes Caley, and bassist/vocalist Leon del Muerte teamed up with drummer Danny Walker (Intronaut, Murder Construct, Phobia) for their acclaimed comeback album, All Guts, No Glory in 2011. The album earned them spots on numerous top 20 lists for 2011, including Decibel Magazine (#13) and Pitchfork's Metal column Show No Mercy (#11). With the positive reception of the record, EXHUMED undertook a grueling road schedule which led to the band finding a new full-time lineup. Mike Hamilton (Deeds Of Flesh, ex-Vile) took over the drum throne and Caley was eventually replaced by returning alumnus Bud Burke, this time on lead guitar.

Over the course of the years, EXHUMED has developed an impressive tour resume that includes visits to America, Canada, Europe, Japan, Australia, and Iceland. The band has also performed at high-profile festivals including Maryland Deathfest, Wacken Open Air, Obscene Extreme, and Scion Rock Fest, in addition to tour packages like Summer Slaughter. Somewhere in the midst of all of the touring, EXHUMED found the time to write and record a new album, Necrocracy, released in 2013 to critical acclaim from publications like Decibel, New Noise, MetalSucks, Stereokiller, and PopMatters, all of whom included the album on the best-of lists for 2013.

EXHUMED followed up that release with a split alongside Relapse label-mates Iron Reagan (2014), and then returned to the studio to fully re-record their 1998 classic Gore Metal. The recording, titled Gore Metal: A Necrospective, also featured the return of bassist/vocalist Ross Sewage as well as completely new artwork and was packaged as a deluxe two-CD set. Now in 2017, EXHUMED returns with their first ever concept album in Death Revenge!

EXHUMED:
Michael "Bud" Burke - guitar, vocals
Michael Hamilton - drums
Matthew Harvey - guitar, vocals
Ross Sewage - bass, vocals

The cornerstone De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas recently earned the #40 spot on Rolling Stone Magazine's 100 Greatest Metal Albums Of All Time, the prestigious publication noting, "...Mysteriis... remains a singularly potent document, its expressions of alienation and nihilism lent an icy severity by Aarseth's lacerating guitar buzz, session vocalist Attila Csihar's arcane croak and presentation of Dead's lyrical gothic terror and the pummeling drums of Hellhammer (Jan Axel Blomberg)."

CHESTER BENNINGTON PRIVATE FAN BASED MEMORIAL

This past weekend, family and close friends celebrated the life of LINKIN PARK singer Chester Bennington at a private service in Los Angeles, while fans worldwide organized over 300 band-endorsed memorials to pay homage to his legacy.

On Saturday, July 29, the private service at South Coast Botanical Garden in Palos Verdes Estates hosted more than 500 family members and close friends - including not only his Linkin Park bandmates but countless musicians with whom he has shared the stage alongside over the past two decades. Ted Stryker of KROQ led the service. Chester's Stone Temple Pilots bandmates Robert & Dean DeLeo, Kings of Chaos drummer Matt Sorum, Damon Fox, and Jimmy Gnecco teamed up for a powerful and poignant rendition of "Amazing Grace." Ryan Shuck - who comprised Dead By Sunrise with Chester - and Linkin Park's Mike Shinoda and Joe Hahn were among the friends who gave heartfelt eulogies.

The outpouring of support from the Linkin Park community continues to echo around the globe just as loudly as the frontman's immortal voice does. One fan started a Google Doc, collating and collecting all of the global memorials to share with other fans around the world. From Africa and Asia to across Europe, Oceania, and South America, LP Ambassadors and fan sites honored Chester's memory with their own touching tributes. Throughout these countries, thousands have created artwork, videos, social media posts, and more about the singer, honoring him forever.

Music For Relief, the non-profit organization Linkin Park founded in 2005, has launched the One More Light Fund in honor of Chester Bennington. Donations can be made at www.musicforrelief.org. In addition, the band shared the Suicide Prevention Lifeline 1-800-273-TALK.

ELUVEITIE RELEASE NEW VIDEO

"Lvgvs", the new video from Swiss folk metallers ELUVEITIE, can be seen below. The song is taken from the band's next album, the long-awaited second part of their acoustic concept effort "Evocation", which will be released on August 18 via Nuclear Blast.

ELUVEITIE mainman Chrigel Glanzmann states: "We're excited to present to you the second single and video clip of our upcoming acoustic album: 'Lvgvs'! Lugus is one of the most enigmatic, fascinating and mystical deities in the Celtic pantheon and occupies an important place in 'Evocation II'! And so is our brand new single: 'Lvgvs'. It comes with playful lightness, but is still very deep at the same time, full of mysticism, eclectic details, deepness and emotion. And furthermore we're also happy to have our good, old buddy Netta Skog from ENSIFERUM and her accordion on board in this song!"

"Evocation II" conjures another time travel to eras long gone. As the title already reveals, the concept of the first opus will continue and is entirely dedicated to the Celtic mythology. Even more, "Evocation II" takes you into the Gallic pantheon and bows down to the Celtic Gods after which the song titles are named. Anyone who will join ELUVEITIE on this journey will quickly notice that the character of each song is equal to the one of the god the song is about — and there is a lot more to discover!

Glanzmann stated about the new CD: "'Evocation II' is a journey back to the source of it all: Antumnos, the otherworld. Join us on this wayfare through the Celtic pantheon, the world of the gods of our ancestors! The album cover expresses nothing less but exactly this! It's full of symbolism and meaning and depicts things of deepest meaning and importance in Celtic mythology. The symbol contains the 'great wheel', symbolizing the wheel of the year with the four seasons and the equinoxes — forming the foundations of Celtic mythology. The great wheel is framed by a tripartite Enneagram; while three is an important number in Celtic mythology in general, we also face trinity in the Celtic pantheon! While the inner circle contains the initials of the names of the deities revered on this album — arranged tripartitedly according to their relations within the pantheon and place in the mythology — the outer circle utters an invitation as well as a blessing, a magical benediction for the one to dare to enter and set forth on this journey. The core of the symbol implies triune symbolism. The depiction shows the god Lugus, who was sometimes also adressed in the plural — Lugoves — since he's a triune god, as well as a tricephalos. The 'one with the skillful hand' and 'artisan of all skills' is depicted and a combination of two important symbols: On the one hand he's shown as 'high king' (and druid of druids), a typical gallic symbolism of an essential meaning and sigificance. On the other hand, he's framed by the gallic 'lord of the animals/lord of life' symbolism: The character surrounded with diverse animals, but being strongly connected with all of them at the same time. So after all, the album cover vibrantly and mystically expresses the content of 'Evocation II'! Join and let the journey begin!"

ELUVEITIE in May 2016 announced the departure of drummer Merlin Sutter, vocalist Anna Murphy and guitarist Ivo Henzi.

The band's last album, "Origins", was released in August 2014 via Nuclear Blast Records.

ELUVEITIE is:

* Jonas Wolf (guitar)
* Matteo Sisti (whistles, bagpipes, mandola)
* Nicole Ansperger (fiddle)
* Alain Ackermann (drums)
* Chrigel Glanzmann (vocals, whistles, mandola, bagpipes, bodhran)
* Fabienne Erni (vocals, celtic harp, mandola)
* Kay Brem (bass)
* Michalina Malisz (hurdy gurdy)
* Rafael Salzmann (guitar)

The new lineup of ELUVEITIE made its live debut at the Eluveitie & Friends festival in January at Z7 in Pratteln, Switzerland

'Urn' feels like the culmination of all our years of hard work; the delivery of everything that we have wanted to create. Music and art as our imaginations see it fit to be. 'Intra Venus' is more concise than much of our work and is in fact the only song on 'Urn' under ten minutes, but one that we feel is a great introduction to the record. We hope that you will enjoy it."

CHESTER BENNINGTON OF LINKIN PARK PASSES AWAY

The members of LINKIN PARK have released the following statement regarding the passing of their lead singer, Chester Bennington:

"Dear Chester,

"Our hearts are broken. The shockwaves of grief and denial are still sweeping through our family as we come to grips with what has happened.

"You touched so many lives, maybe even more than you realized. In the past few days, we've seen an outpouring of love and support, both public and private, from around the world. Talinda and the family appreciate it, and want the world to know that you were the best husband, son, and father; the family will never be whole without you.

"Talking with you about the years ahead together, your excitement was infectious. Your absence leaves a void that can never be filled — a boisterous, funny, ambitious, creative, kind, generous voice in the room is missing. We're trying to remind ourselves that the demons who took you away from us were always part of the deal. After all, it was the way you sang about those demons that made everyone fall in love with you in the first place. You fearlessly put them on display, and in doing so, brought us together and taught us to be more human. You had the biggest heart, and managed to wear it on your sleeve.

"Our love for making and performing music is inextinguishable. While we don't know what path our future may take, we know that each of our lives was made better by you. Thank you for that gift. We love you, and miss you so much.

"Until we see you again, LP."

Bennington was found dead in his home in Palos Verdes near Los Angeles by one of his employees shortly before 9 a.m. on Thursday, July 20.

A Los Angeles County coroner said on Friday that Bennington's "death is confirmed to be suicide by hanging." He added that "a bottle of alcohol was found in the room, but it wasn't close to the body and was not full."

Bennington had been candid about mental health battles in numerous interviews over the years. He was an open book when it came to the darkness he wrestled with, from talking about depression, anxiety and substance abuse, to revealing that he was molested when he was seven years old

ARCH ENEMY RELEASE NEW VIDEO FROM UPCOMING RELEASE

ARCH ENEMY have risen once again and are ready to accelerate at full force as they unleash the masterful new single, "The World Is Yours", taken from their forthcoming album, "Will To Power", due out on September 8 via CENTURY MEDIA RECORDS worldwide.

Mastermind Michael Amott comments, "We've been hard at work on the new album for a while now and we're proud to present the first taste of new Arch Enemy music in over three years with our new single and video, 'The World Is Yours'! This was the first song I wrote for the upcoming 'Will To Power' album and Daniel (Erlandsson, drums) helped me arrange and finish it up. One of many songs we co-wrote and co-produced this time around. We had a blast recording together with the full band in the south of Sweden and then mixing with Jens Bogren, who did a superb mix and mastering - in my opinion even surpassing the epic sound on our previous record, 'War Eternal'. People that have heard this song in particular are saying it's got the classic anthemic Arch Enemy vibe going on, and I think they might be right about that... Looking forward to playing it live on stage later this summer!"

The massive debut track, which can be heard and seen in their rousing music video HERE or streaming below, will be offered as an instant download with all digital pre-orders and is also available on all streaming platforms.

Head to http://willtopower.centurymedia.com to find all digital and physical pre-order options.

ARCH ENEMY - "The World Is Yours" Music Video
"Will To Power" promises to be the ultimate statement of heavy metal supremacy and will mark the first album the band have recorded with their current line-up -- ALISSA WHITE-GLUZ (Vocals), MICHAEL AMOTT (Guitars), JEFF LOOMIS (Guitars), SHARLEE D'ANGELO (Bass), and DANIEL ERLANDSSON (Drums).  The album was co-produced by AMOTT and ERLANDSSON, while being mixed and mastered by Jens Bogren (Opeth, At The Gates, Dimmu Borgir).

Following the immense critical acclaim from their anthem-laden triumph of 2014, "War Eternal", ARCH ENEMY will continue to bring their thunderous live performances to fans worldwide on the "Will To Power 2017 International Tour" this Fall following a busy summer making appearances across the European festival market. The first leg of the tour will stretch across Eastern Europe from September 15 to October 11 with direct support from Jinjer. Further dates across Europe and North America are soon to be revealed. JUDAS PRIEST ANNOUNCE MOBILE GAME
Sony Music Entertainment and legendary heavy metal band Judas Priest announced today that “Judas Priest: Road To Valhalla,” a new mobile game for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch is now available in the App Store.

Game download link to App Store here: http://apple.co/2uG3i3n

The app features stunning new visuals and gameplay set to the iconic songs “Halls of Valhalla,” “Breaking the Law”, “Turbo Lover”, “Electric Eye”, and “Painkiller” and “You’ve Got Another Thing Coming.”

Judas Priest: Road To Valhalla innovates by making isolated song stems (eg drums, vocals, guitar) from the 2016 ‘Battle Cry’ album available to players exclusively within the game. Using an innovative visual mechanic, players must fill “stem meters” to construct the full song and progress through each level of the game.

“When we set out to make this game, we wanted to give fans a new kind of visual listening experience” said Rob Halford, who also appears in a series of exclusive video clips throughout the game. “For the first time, we are making individual stems of our songs available to fans to give them a new and interactive way to engage with some of the best songs from our catalog.”

Video trailer for game here:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gZ6bjtdH5s4

“Judas Priest: Road To Valhalla” is a joint collaboration between Judas Priest, Sony Music Entertainment, Trinifold Management LLC UK and Babaroga, a leading mobile game studio.

“Metal maniacs are you ready to join Judas Priest on the Road To Valhalla.....? We are excited to have you take charge and lead the way on the bike and the tour bus! Let the molten metal mayhem begin with the thrill of the ride! Can you claim victory on this perilous journey that leads you into Valhalla...?”

Have a blast and enjoy!

Gods of orchestral extreme metal, SEPTICFLESH, will release their unrelenting new opus, Codex Omega, on September 1, 2017 in North America via Prosthetic Records. As a follow up to the release of their first single, "Dante's Inferno", SEPTICFLESH have just dropped the colossal new track "3rd Testament (Codex Omega)". Grab ahold of your seat and listen here via new lyric video:

The video was created by Cloud Music Typography. Guitarist Sotiris V. comments on the track, "As the release date of our new album is getting closer, it is appropriate to introduce you to the song that revolves around the main theme, "3rd Testament (Codex Omega)". So, behold the anti-bible. Listen to the sutras of the 3rd and final book in the divine drama series..."

Codex Omega will be available as a 2-CD set, on purple wax vinyl as well as a US indie retail store exclusive on white wax vinyl, and on all digital outlets. Preorders are up now and available at http://smarturl.it/SepticfleshCO.

CHILDREN OF BODOM/CARACH ANGREN UNVEIL FALL NORTH AMERICAN TOUR

Finland's melodic death metallers CHILDREN OF BODOM are returning to the states this fall for a mind-blowing celebration of 20 years since the debut of "Something Wild" and the beginning of the Hate Crew.

The 24-date tour will kick off on October 31 in Dallas, Texas with appearances at this year's Ozzfest Meets Knotfest, seven Canadian dates before concluding in Montreal on December 1. Joining the band on the momentous occasion are Dutch masters of horror CARACH ANGREN, Finnish thrashers LOST SOCIETY and New Jersey progressive, technical death metallers UNCURED.

CHILDREN OF BODOM frontman Alexi Laiho comments: "So my friends, after rolling through Europe doing the 20th-year-anniversary tour, we were honestly pretty bummed out to find out that we wouldn't have enough time to bring the tour to America since it was absolutely a blast for both the crowd and the band. But now I’m stoked to announce that, as it turns out, we indeed will be able to do this on the other side of the pond so I'm over-the-top happy about that!!

"Remember, guys, this will be a once-in-a-lifetime experience seeing us playing all kinds of obscure tracks off the first album, stuff from the second and third albums that we ain't played in over 15 years and the general rule, really, is that there will not be a single song newer than the 'Hate Crew Deathroll' tracks so it's all about old-school COB! So even if 'Something Wild' isn't your favorite album, I can guarantee that it will be entertaining, nostalgic and flat-out funny as hell to be a part of this madness so that's one party you just cannot miss! I hope to see you there, ladies and gents!"
