Flotsam And Jetsam regretfully announce that Kelly Smith will be stepping out from behind the drums to focus on caring for his family. Please, extend him you love and support during this time, as we wish nothing but the best for our Flotsam brother.

Kelly was instrumental in bringing Flotsam back to its current form with a touring and festival schedule that, since 2013, saw the band perform live in 15 countries and across the US for more than 80 shows.

Kelly has issued the following personal message to the Flotsam fans: "As of August, my family has suffered the loss of two family members and a third is now in critical condition. With all that has taken place, it has taken me away from the focus of my duties in Flotsam for the foreseeable future.

"In 1982 Flotsam (first as Dredlox, then as Dogz) was born in Scottsdale, Arizona on my parents back patio. Despite all the progress we have made, I am regretfully unable to continue on this journey, as always I only want the best should my comrades continue the good fight. Flotz til Death."

As Kelly departs, Flotsam continues work on a new album that is still scheduled for a spring 2015 release, to coincide with the band's upcoming European tour and festival dates.
Details on the upcoming album and new drummer will be released soon.

ARCH ENEMY has parted ways with guitarist Nick Cordle and has replaced him with Jeff Loomis ( ex-NEVERMORE). Loomis will make his live debut with ARCH ENEMY on the band's upcoming European tour, which kicks off November 26.

Says Loomis: "I'm very excited to be playing with ARCH ENEMY. "[ARCH ENEMY guitarist] Michael Amott and I have stayed in contact over the years since we toured together when I was playing in NEVERMORE. Not only do I admire his guitar playing and songwriting, but I also consider him a close friend. To be able to share the stage with Michael, Sharlee, Daniel and Alissa is something I'm really looking forward to.
"2015 is going to be a great year... See you all on tour!"

Says Cordle: "With [the latest ARCH ENEMY album] 'War Eternal' I believe we wrote an album together which will stand the test of time, and I wish them well for the future."

U.S. fans will be able to catch a special reunion as Christopher Amott (the brother of ARCH ENEMY founder/bandleader Michael Amott) has joined the band for the remainder of their American headlining tour.
Says Michael Amott: "We all wish Nick the very best in his new endeavors and we are sure that you will hear much more from him. We're also super grateful to my brother Christopher for stepping in to finish the current American tour!

"The prospect of working with Jeff Loomis moving forward is truly awesome!

"Jeff Loomis is one of the best guitar players in the metal world, in my opinion, as well as being a longtime friend. I look forward to tearing it up on stages around the world together as we continue on the 'War Eternal' touring cycle throughout all next year and beyond!"

ARCH ENEMY played its first show with new singer Alissa White-Gluz on May 23 at Turbohalle in Bucharest, Romania. Angela Gossow, who joined ARCH ENEMY in 2000 and made her debut on the now-classic "Wages Of Sin" (2001), has stepped down as frontwoman and will focus on management, while Alissa takes her place.
ARCH ENEMY's new album, "War Eternal", sold around 8,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to enter The Billboard 200 chart at position No. 44. The CD was released on June 10 in North America via Century Media Records. The cover artwork was created by Costin Chioreanu.

"It is with deep regret and saddened hearts that we must tell you that Athon passed away this morning from injuries sustained from his motorcycle accident. Doctors told us that he suffered irreparable brain damage shortly after the accident. He has been in a coma and sustained by life support until now. As per his wishes, we removed Athon from his life support systems and his organs will be donated. His body will be cremated and a memorial is being planned for family and friends in Savannah. He was 32 years old and will be forever missed. Thank you all for your support during this devastating time for us, it would have made him proud."

D.C. progmeisters Periphery have announced they will release two new albums on Jan. 27, 2015. ‘Juggernaut: Alpha’ and ‘Juggernaut: Omega’ will be unleashed via Sumerian Records.

“Given the nature and complexity of the ‘Juggernaut’ story, we’ve actually done something different and exciting in regards to the release,” says drummer Matt Halpern.  “‘Juggernaut’ is a story that is told through our music, and we want our audience to fully digest the whole experience. Because ‘Juggernaut’ is very detailed and dense in terms of character development, peaks and valleys, climaxes and resolutions we’ve divided the story and music in two, in the form of two separate albums.”

Halpern continues, “‘Juggernaut: Alpha,’ the first part of the story, focuses on the back story and character development, while part two/album two, ‘Juggernaut: Omega,’ focuses on some pretty serious and gut-wrenching events, taking you for a thrill ride along the main character’s complex journey.  Although the albums are split in two physically, the story is only complete when the albums are digested consecutively, allowing the listener to recognize and hear the lyrical and musical overlapping themes, foreshadowing, and connected ideas.”

Guitarist Misha Mansoor says, “This is new ground and it’s exciting It’s a way to shake things up. Everyone contributed to everything, even if it wasn’t his instrument. It wasn’t about confrontation. Everyone was focused on creating a really cool album.”

A couple weeks before the album drops, the band will embark on a tour with Nothing More, Wovenwar and Thank You Scientist. It kicks off Jan. 10 in Carrboro, N.C. (dates below). Tickets are on-sale Nov. 7 with VIP packages available simultaneously via

“We are ecstatic to be out of the studio and touring on ‘Juggernaut,’” says vocalist Spencer Sotelo. “The band is planning on performing a good amount of tracks from that record on this tour and we are beyond excited to share this experience with all of our fans. It’s going to be a killer tour and we feel very strongly about the diverse line-up of bands that we were able to bring together for this.”

NAPALM DEATH and VOIVOD will join forces for a North American tour, aptly dubbed "Through Space And Grind", in January/February.

Said NAPALM DEATH frontman Mark "Barney" Greenway: "As a celebration of both the unconventional and more straight-out methods of musical attack, I think this tour lineup really hits home. "To think that 30 years ago I was marveling at the savage eccentricities of 'War And Pain' and now I'm sharing stage / living space with Snake, Away and co... surreal, almost.

"From NAPALM's perspective, we'll bring the overdrive to the spaciness. It's all going to rage whichever way you slice it."
Added VOIVOD drummer Michel "Away" Langevin: "I am psyched to tour North America with NAPALM DEATH, for which I always had a huge respect. We crossed path over the years and finally we'll get to unite VOIVOD's spacy thrash metal with NAPALM's grindcore. A perfect combination!!"

The official video for "Scare Force One", the title track of the seventh studio album from Finnish heavy metal monsters LORDI, can be seen below. The CD will be released on November 3 via AFM.

"Scare Force One" track listing:

01. SCG7: Arm Your Doors And Cross Check
02. Scare Force One
03. How To Slice A Whore
04. Hell Sent In The Clowns
05. House Of Ghosts
06. Monster Is My Name
07. Cadaver Lover
08. Amen's Lament To Ra II
09. Nailed By The Hammer Of Frankenstein
10. The United Rocking Dead
11. She's A Demon
12. Hella's Kitchen
13. Sir, Mr. Presideath, Sir

The first single from the CD, "Nailed By The Hammer Of Frankenstein", can be streamed below.

To celebrate the release of the new album, LORDI will play one of its infrequent domestic shows — the record-release party is set for November 1 at The Circus in Helsinki.

According to LORDI mainman Mr. Lordi, the material on "Scare Force One" is more experimental than before. It's not a theme or concept record, per se, but there is a red thread that runs through all the songs.

Says the singer: "The overall sound of the band is more modern this time, and we've tried out some new tricks here and there. The basic LORDI building blocks are still present however, so there's no shortage of melodic hooks in the songs. The first single, 'Nailed By The Hammer Of Frankenstein', is pretty representative of where the band is right now."

In addition to its sound, the band has also tweaked its outward appearance. The new costumes, designed and built by Mr. Lordi as always, will be debuted at the record release show.

"I wanted to make the band's colour scheme more unified than it has been and I think it worked out quite nicely," Mr. Lordi says. "Hella and Mana have probably changed the most, and with the trip to a hair salon for a new dye job, they're looking great."

LORDI's last two albums were made in Nashville under the watchful eye of legendary producer Michael Wagener (SKID ROW, WARRANT). But this time the band wanted to do it differently and recorded the album with veteran Finnish producer Mikko Karmila.

"We really wanted to make this record in Finland, with a Finnish producer," Mr. Lordi. "We finally managed to get Mikko Karmila to work with us, which is great. He has come up as a potential producer for the band on several previous occasions but now, we've really nailed it. We've definitely had no reason to regret this decision so far and are extremely happy with the album."

LORDI's last CD, "To Beast Or Not To Beast", was released on March 1, 2013 in Europe (excluding Finland) via AFM Records. The CD was made available in North America on March 19, 2013 through The End Records.

Bay Area thrash titans EXODUS are celebrating Blood In, Blood Out’s stellar Top 40 Billboard debut with the release of their brand new music video for the title track ‘Blood In, Blood Out’, directed by Shan Dan Horan of the Shadow Born Group (Buckcherry, Carnifex, Winds of Plague). The video features hundreds of dedicated Bay Area fans that came out in droves to perform as extras in the video after a wide casting call. Check out the video now, exclusively via Revolver Magazine:
“‘Blood In, Blood Out’ was exactly the kind of video we wanted and needed to make… unbridled energy, violence, blood and our Bay Area friends and family at the center of attention! Just as they should be,” states EXODUS guitarist Gary Holt.  “I hate making videos and this one was so much fun, I actually caught myself saying things I never would say before! ‘Let's run through it again!’”
EXODUS vocalist Steve “Zetro” Souza adds, “Typical and sheer violence, straight up aggressive and in your fucking face! Watching this video kind of reminds me of Fight Club, but awesome action and awesome violence, perfect for the title track of the new EXODUS album ‘Blood In, Blood Out’!”
“Directing this music video has been a pleasure. Having the task to find hundreds of metal heads to fill up a dark room with very limited time seemed like a tough task,” begins director Shan Dan Horan. “What I found however, was an overwhelming response from some of the most positive and energetic fans I've ever met. I feel honored to have played a small role in that. Old metalheads, young ones, to even a guy that showed up in his wheelchair. The fact of the matter is everyone was accepted and everyone picked up their brethren when they would fall in the pit. To me that's what ‘Blood In, Blood Out’ is about. While we all come from different backgrounds - once a metal head, always a metal head. That's something that stays in your blood.”
Blood In, Blood Out was released on October 14th via Nuclear Blast and debuted at #38 on the U.S. Billboard Top 200 charts in its first week. That’s a staggering 76 charting spots higher and nearly double the sales above the band’s last release in 2010! This concretes Blood In, Blood Out’s status as the band’s highest-charting album to date.
Blood In, Blood Out also debuted at #2 on the Hard Rock/Metal charts and #6 on the Independent charts, as well as at #29 in Germany, #30 in Finland, #30 in Switzerland, #38 in Austria, #38 in the Czech Republic, #72 in the UK, #75 in France, #85 in the Netherlands, and #101 overall and #6 on Hard Music charts in Canada. This includes some territories that EXODUS has never charted in before!
Blood In, Blood Out can be ordered from the Nuclear Blast USA Webshop in CD, digi-pak + bonus DVD, 2-LP exclusive yellow vinyl, and imported limited edition box set formats. The album can also be purchased via iTunes, Google Play and Amazon. Or, pick up a copy of the album at your local music retailers.
EXODUS will hit the road with Slayer and Suicidal Tendencies in just under three weeks, so your tickets via the official EXODUS Facebook page now! Due to the overwhelmingly demand, EXODUS VIP Experience packages are available for the entire tour via All EXODUS VIP Experience attendees will be included in a giveaway for either an autographed Gary Holt signature guitar or an EXODUS guitar.  At the end of the tour, Gary Holt will personally call the winner himself to announce that they’ve won!

ShipRocked 2015--fueled by Monster Energy--will be headlined by Limp Bizkit, featuring Fred Durst, Wes Borland, Sam Rivers, and John Otto.

Fred Durst says, “Limp Bizkit? New album? Sunshine? Metal party? Phil Anselmo? Unlimited lobster? Half-naked women? No rules? Loud music? Every day? Every night? Repeat five times in a row? You don't have to ask me twice. I'M IN!!!!! See you there, Bizkit heads!!”

The sixth ShipRocked will also feature Chevelle, heavy metal all-star band Metal Allegiance, Black Label Society, Buckcherry, P.O.D., Sevendust, Tremonti, Andrew W.K., Living Colour, Filter, Lacuna Coil, Nonpoint, Otherwise, Zach Myers of Shinedown with J.R. Moore & Zack Mack, Crobot, Thousand Foot Krutch, Wilson, Islander, Andy Wood, Letters From The Fire, Cilver, and DJ Lippy Rage.

For the first time, ShipRocked guests are invited to start their vacation early with the ShipRocked Super Sail Away Pre-Party on February 1, 2015. The Pre-Party will feature Chevelle’s only ShipRocked performance, as well as sets from Sevendust and Wilson.

For the Super Sail Away, cruise guests will avoid boarding lines by checking into their cabins during the day on February 1. The cost is about the same as a hotel room, food is included, the Super Bowl will be shown on big screens, bands will perform, and guests can check out the bars, get pampered in the spa, and gamble at the casino (while at sea).

For the Pre-Party, the Norwegian Pearl will set sail in the evening on February 1 and will return to pick up additional ShipRocked guests the next morning. Those already onboard will have the luxury of sleeping in while others are boarding. Cabins for ShipRocked 2015 are on sale now at
Metal Allegiance--featuring singers Philip Anselmo (Down, ex-Pantera) and Joey Belladonna (Anthrax), guitarists Chris Broderick (Megadeth), Scott Ian (Anthrax), and Gary Holt (Slayer/Exodus), bassists Frank Bello (Anthrax) and David Ellefson (Megadeth), and drummers Charlie Benante (Anthrax) and Mike Portnoy (The Winery Dogs, ex-Dream Theater)--will put their spin on a scorching set of heavy metal’s most influential and recognizable songs.

"It'll be a blast to rejoin my fellow badass Metal Allegiance compatriots on ShipRocked 2015,” says Philip H. Anselmo of Metal Allegiance. “Expect more blasts from the past, plus some killer musicians amongst the awesome atmosphere of jamming on the water! Come out and jam with us!"
Mike Portnoy of Metal Allegiance explains, "After the recent debut of Metal Allegiance, we couldn't wait to get back together and throw down again! We're fans just like everybody on the other side of the stage watching us. We all love this music and Metal Allegiance gives us a chance to hang, jam and have fun with this unique brotherhood of metal!"

“ShipRocked is about great live music, and it's about the fans. The way that crowds have responded to Limp Bizkit's return to the stage – and the way the band has embraced its fans during those performances – truly epitomizes that spirit.  And Metal Allegiance is a band of world class musicians, heavy metal legends in their own right, performing not just for the fans, but AS fans of the great hard rock and metal tradition that's helped to shape so many of the bands that we have on board this year,” says event producer Alan Koenig of ASK4 Entertainment.
Each ShipRocked is a once-in-a-lifetime experience that provides guests with the opportunity to vacation with their favorite bands, meet new friends, and reunite with old friends year after year. On any given day, guests might find themselves dining, drinking, rocking out, swimming, working out, or gambling alongside their favorite rock stars. The full-ship charter provides a one-of-a-kind experience for guests to have the time of their lives with thousands of like-minded friends. Guests will spend two full days enjoying concerts and activities on a private beach on Great Stirrup Cay in the Bahamas ( The island features a large performance area on the beach with full production for rock shows and offers various island excursions such as parasailing, snorkeling, canoeing and more.

OCTOBER 23rd 2014
The Decibel Magazine Tour has established itself as the extreme music destination of the spring, bringing metalheads a thoughtfully curated lineup that celebrates the genre's proud and diverse global legacy. The fourth installment is no different, as Swedish melodeath legends AT THE GATES join forces with U.S. hardcore heroes CONVERGE and U.K. death/doom supergroup VALLENFYRE, with yet one more very special opener to be announced this December.

Last year, Decibel brought you CARCASS' first sustained domestic tour in five years, as the reanimated death metal legends introduced North America to long-awaited comeback album Surgical Steel. In 2015, we're stoking fans' salivary glands again, offering the first live taste of death metal icons AT THE GATES' incredible 19-years-in-the-making At War With Reality. Presented by Century Media,, Nuclear Blast Mailorder, Handshake Inc., Lace Music, Deathwish Inc and Profound Lore, the 2015 Decibel Magazine Tour will slaughter the souls of North American concertgoers for 15 unforgettable dates, offering a bounty of extreme trailblazers making their best music right now.

"Super-stoked at finally getting to be part of the Decibel tour!"enthuses AT THE GATES frontman Tomas Lindberg. "A great mag, with great people behind it! And finally being able to rip out new stuff in front of a U.S. club audience? Sweet! The bill looks amazing, too! The most relevant hardcore band on the planet and the fiercest old-school death metal band on the same night as us? Excited!"

Four-time Decibel cover stars CONVERGE continue to not just push, but outright obliterate the boundaries of extreme music, most recently with 2012's All We Love We Leave Behind. "We are excited to be part of this fantastic and diverse tour," says frontman Jacob Bannon, who designed the tour logo and art. "For me, AT THE GATES are one of the most important bands in contemporary heavy music. It will be an honor to tour the country with them."

Boasting present and past members of PARADISE LOST, MY DYING BRIDE and AT THE GATES, old-school death-dealing supergroup VALLENFYRE can't wait to debut songs from 2014's critically acclaimed sophomore stunner, Splinters. "This will be VALLENFYRE's first U.S. tour, and what a tour," beams frontman Gregor Mackintosh. "I think this is the most diverse and exciting bill of any metal tour I have seen this year. Great to be a part of it. We will be injecting some British filth into your unsuspecting American ears. Cheers."
We know you can't wait to GO to war with this lineup either, so here's your chance to score a great deal and avoid standing in line. There will be a number of VIP premium packages available in each market, providing you with a limited edition T-shirt, 18 x 24 tour poster, "Skip the Line" pass, exclusive digital tour issue of Decibel Magazine, a coupon for 15% off a purchase on Indie Merch's webstore, and free digital sampler from Century Media. The price of this package is less than you would spend on a ticket and a tour shirt at the show! More details, including ticket info, are available at
