CARACH ANGREN by Negakinu
The Dutch masters of horror are back with their most flamboyant album so far. On 'Dance and Laugh amongst the Rotten', CARACH ANGREN are painting musical pictures that easily combine the grandiose depth of a Rembrandt with Van Gogh's maelstrom of whirling colours and the utter madness of Bosch. This lusciously seductive danse macabre will drag you in and never let go.
CARACH ANGREN have employed all the sonic colours on their palette to dazzling effect. Their trademark whipping guitars are weaving harsh melodies and sinister soundscapes, which are beautifully contrasted by opulent keyboards and majestic orchestrations. That Till Lindemann (RAMMSTEIN) and Peter Tägtgren (PAIN) have called upon the composition talent of Clemens "Ardek" Wijers is a telling sign of his outstanding mastery of the craft. Another signatory counterpoint is provided by Seregor's fierce rasping and shrieking vocals. Adding to the impact, Namtar has become a relentless driving force with his hard hitting yet intricate drumming. Each track on this album is a highlight on its own, while combined 'Dance and Laugh amongst the Rotten' simply shines.
CARACH ANGREN set out to tell ghost-stories with a set of paranormal cases recorded on the demo 'The Chase Vault Tragedy' (2004). This was soon followed by the official release of the 'Ethereal Veiled Existence' EP (2005) as a prelude to the haunting 'Lammendam' (2008). The Dutch had a clear vision of combining a dark baroque style of metal with horror based lyrical concepts. Their sophomore full-length 'Death Came through a Phantom Ship' (2010) witnessed the band setting sail to bring their eccentric and capturing live performances to audiences and festivals all over Europe. In the wake of third album 'Where the Corpses Sink Forever' (2012), the haunting had reached the Americas and started to spread rapidly. This recorded added a serious side to the lyrics of CARACH ANGREN. While firmly remaining in the horror genre, their tales revolve around the evils of war. This mature streak was taken a step further with the fourth full-length 'This Is No Fairytale', which is on the surface a darker variation of the "Hansel and Gretel" story from the Brothers Grimm collection, but also deals with the too real topic of child abuse in a dysfunctional family.
With 'Dance and Laugh amongst the Rotten', CARACH ANGREN are returning to "pure" storytelling with episodes that are centered on a girl playing a little too long with her Ouija board. The Dutch have pushed their unashamedly theatric style to a new intense height. You do not believe us yet? Press play and unleash these radiant ghosts into your home…

AT THE GATES GUITARIST ANDERS BJORLER HAS PARTED WAYS WITH THE BAND
Having completed an extremely comprehensive worldwide touring campaign in support of their comeback album, "At War With Reality", Swedish melodic death metal pioneers AT THE GATES have announced the departure of their co-founding guitarist Anders Björler.
Says the band in a statement: So, it is now official that Anders Björler is no longer a part of AT THE GATES. He will always be part of the AT THE GATES family, of course, but he will no longer write, record or play with us live.
"This is something that we, the rest of the band, have felt was on its way for quite some time, as that special spark was no longer with him the last year. We are grateful for all we have experienced together with him, all the records, all the songs, all the gigs, all the laughs and good times.
"The rest of us have, in the meantime, started the work on the follow-up to 'At War With Reality'. We already have three songs written, and the direction is set for an intense, hungry follow-up album.
"Jonas [Björler, bass] has always written a considerable part of the band's material and we are fully confident that the new material will live up to the standards set by our previous records. It is ripping.
"The four of us still have the burning urge to create death metal together, and we love playing live in front of our fans, so we will go on, with an even stronger intent.
"While writing the new record that we intend to record in the beginning of 2018, we are trying out Anders's replacement. Some auditions are being held as we speak, and we will get back to you with news on the matter as soon as we know more."
Anders Björler added: "Just a quick note to let everybody know that I am leaving AT THE GATES permanently. The passion is just gone. There might be a more lengthy statement in the future, but at the moment I feel no need to explain further.
"This is a personal decision, and it has 100% to do with the music side of things.
"The reunion in 2008, and the subsequent tours, as well as the comeback album, 'At War With Reality', really helped revisiting our friendship, and it brought us together in a way I will always remember and cherish.
"I would also like to thank all the people that supported us throughout the reunion shows as well as the 'At War With Reality' album. Thanks a lot!"

JACK OWENS JOINS SIX FEET UNDER
Last week, Six Feet Under released their 12th studio album, Torment, to critical acclaim. As a new leap in intensity, Torment gives fans plenty of classic Six Feet Under groove, with a much more aggressive approach and blast beats throughout. This is a cantankerous Six Feet Under with absolutely nothing to prove. This is Six Feet Under at their most deadly.
With the release of their new album, the band also welcomes Jack Owen (ex-Cannibal Corpse) to their ranks, as the second guitarist. Front-man Chris Barnes comments:
"Hello, hello! First of all, I would like to thank all the fans that pre-ordered and purchased our new album 'Torment', and everyone that is enjoying our new work! Thank you very much! Much appreciated!!
And now, without further ado, it is with great pleasure that I announce and introduce to you our new second guitarist, Jack Owen.
As you all know, Jack and I started off together helping form one of the greatest Death Metal bands of all time. Jack and I began talking a few months ago, after his departure from his previous band about joining forces.
From my side of things, it's going to be amazing to work with Jack again!! We had some intense adventures, to say the least hahaha...and it's gonna be killer to step on stage with Jack for the first time in over 22 years!!
Jack will be joining SFU for the entire cycle of touring for the new album and beyond!
As you can imagine Six Feet Under is planning a very exciting live set list for you all to freak out over!!!
More info and tour dates coming soon!
Hang on to your skeleton!!
Jack Owen adds: "I'm super excited to work with my metal brother Chris Barnes and the mighty Six Feet Under! We've been talking about writing original material for years, and I hope it gets to that point. It would be amazing. For now, I'm looking forward to touring our asses off. I miss Europe, Canada, South America - hell, I just miss touring! It will be an honor jamming with Chris and his current SFU lineup of talented musicians...and performing with Chris will be like reliving our youth. I can't wait to see all the SFU and old school Cannibal Corpse fans across the globe!"

LINKIN PARK REVEAL NEW VIDEO FOR "HEAVY"
LINKIN PARK's video for the song "Heavy" can be seen at the link below. The track is the first single from the band's seventh studio album, "One More Light", which will be released on May 19 through Warner Bros.
Linkin Park: "Heavy"
LINKIN PARK debuted "Heavy" on Los Angeles radio station KROQ on February 16, followed by a performance of the track later in the day on Facebook Live. The track features guest vocals from Kiara Saulters, who is best known for recording stop-motion, hip-hop-inspired electro-R&B under the name Kiiara and who performed with the band during the Facebook event.
LINKIN PARK singer Chester Bennington told Music Choice about the "Heavy" video: "What's funny is, like, this song is, like, not a heavy song, but I destroyed more stuff making this [clip] than, like, any other song. It was more violent and more intense making this video than any other video. Like, I got into like fistfights with myself, fistfights with other people, breaking a bunch of stuff. I got to take a lamp and throw it through a television set. Like, I've wrecked so much stuff, it was awesome."
"Heavy" sees LINKIN PARK teaming up with pop songwriter Emily Wright, who has worked with artists like Miley Cyrus, Katy Perry and Flo Rida. Vocalist Mike Shinoda told The Pulse Of Radio about the concept behind the song and its very different sound: "The question popped into my head, what would it be like, first of all, to write with people outside the band? What would it be like to really approach things with our arms kind of wide open, wrapped around a larger audience? And still make it a hundred percent LINKIN PARK and a hundred percent true to what we do. Almost a year and a half later, this is the first taste of what that sounds like."
Asked what the rest of "One More Light" is like, Shinoda told Billboard: "One of the reasons why we chose 'Heavy' as the first single is because it is really the core sound of the album. This wasn't a scenario where the whole album sounds one way and the single sounds different. This is how the album sounds. So we wanted to go out with a song like that, where everybody can get a sense of the direction of this body of work."
Shinoda also talked about LINKIN PARK's decision to collaborate with other writers this time around.
"The thing that really drove this album was we kind of flipped our writing process backwards," he said. "Historically for us the (instrumental) track usually comes first, like we'll make a body of music and the music will inspire the lyrics. In this case, we actually flipped that around and the very first thing we'd do each day is we'd get into the studio and say, 'What's on my mind? What do I want to sing about and write about?' and that defined a whole different kind of writing. It builds a wonderful foundation to put everything else on top of. And the soundmaking is actually one of the most fun parts for me, so then it's like icing on the cake. I know I've got a strong song, a strong foundation and then it's just icing to put on top of it."
Other tunes on the new CD include "Nobody Can Save Me", "Good Goodbye", "Talking To Myself", "Battle Symphony", "Invisible", "Sorry For Now", "Halfway Right", "Sharp Edges" and the title track.
LINKIN PARK has already started booking dates in Latin America, Europe and Asia, but has yet to announce North American dates.

SLAYER ANNOUNCES NORTH AMERICAN SUMMER TOUR
There are many perilous ways one can spend time off - volcano-boarding down Cerro Negro, Nicaragua's active volcano, or maybe bungee jumping from a helicopter over the bubbling crater of Chile's Villarrica volcano. How about a visit to Sao Paulo's Snake Island, home of some 4000 golden lancehead vipers whose venom can melt human flesh, or shark diving without a cage in South Africa. But nothing is quite as hazardous or risky as a night in the pit at a Slayer concert. Add to that the ferociousness of Lamb of God and Behemoth, and you've got a Satan-approved triple bill of Biblical proportions.
The six-week expedition will rage across North America beginning July 12 in Bemidji, MN, winding up in Phoenix, AZ on August 20. Slayer and Lamb of God will also play Wisconsin's Rock Fest 2017 (7/13) and Rock USA 2017 (7/15), and then meet up with Behemoth at the Chicago Open Air Festival on July 16. Tickets go on sale this Friday, March 3; log on to www.slayer.net/tour for all purchasing details.
Slayer's Kerry King comments: "As metal tours go, this is the one that your fellow metal heads will be bragging about if you miss it! Not very often I get to go on tour where we are all friends to start. That being said, the potential for greatness at these events is mind blowing. I look forward to being a part of it, and hanging with old friends- bands as well as fanatical fans! Let the festivities begin!!"
Lamb of God's Randy Blythe comments: "It's been a while since we've toured with the almighty Slayer, & even longer since we've hit the road with our friends in Behemoth- I can't wait! This tour is gonna be the feel-good event of the summer- the gigs are gonna be like the Haight-Ashbury during the Summer of Love in '67! Ok, so that's complete bullshit, it's gonna be absolutely nothing like that, so don't show up with flowers in your hair looking for free hugs or anything stupid like that. It will definitely be a good fucking time though (as long as your definition of a good time means brutal, caustic, and hideously loud music)- see ya there!"
Behemoth's Adam "Nergal" Darski comments: "It is with the utmost pride we are announcing the Slayer, Lamb Of God and Behemoth Summer tour! We are beyond excited to be joining this bill with these living legends and our friends one more time! We are also stoked about coming back to North American shores for the last time before kicking off the next album cycle. Come and join this EXTREME metal feast with us!"

KITTIE BASSIST PASSES AWAY
Trish Doan (a.k.a. Trisha Jai-Mee Doan), bassist for the Canadian metal band KITTIE, has died. She was only 31 years old.
The news of Doan's passing was first revealed by KITTIE on the group's official Facebook page. The band wrote: "It is with immeasurable sadness that we share news of the passing of our sister and best friend Trish Doan. "Finding the right words is tough. She was so bright and vibrant and talented and we loved her and still do. She was so much more than just a musician or member of the band. She was our blood, our sister and family. Finding our way without her will be challenging, like a ship without a lighthouse, and we are devastated. "We ask that you please respect our privacy and her family's privacy during this difficult time."
Born in Gwangju, South Korea (about 270 kilometers from the capital Seoul), Doan joined KITTIE in 2005 and was in the band for two years before leaving in 2007 and then rejoining in 2012. She can be heard on KITTIE's 2006 EP "Never Again" and the 2007 full-length album "Funeral For Yesterday".
In early 2008, it was reported that Doan originally left KITTIE due to the eating disorder anorexia-athletica-nervosa, which she had been struggling with for almost two years.
Doan relocated to Australia in 2009 to get a degree and try to surf before returning to Canada in 2011. She apparently moved back to Australia in 2013 and kept an active Twitter account and Facebook page where she frequently posted about her life struggles and battles with depression.

IRON MAIDEN ANNOUNCES NORTH AMERICAN TOUR
IRON MAIDEN's hugely successful "The Book Of Souls" world tour will return to North America for an extensive series of arena and amphitheater shows in summer 2017. The mammoth tour opened in Florida last February playing fourteen sold-out shows in the U.S.A and Canada along with a further 58 concerts in 34 other countries around the globe.
First night reviews from Ft. Lauderdale called it "a full-throttle, devil-may-care performance that thrilled a sold-out BB&T Center" (Sun Sentinel) with Revolver magazine reporting how the band's legendary mascot Eddie dominated the Maya-themed stage: "From a walking zombie towering over band members during the set, to being featured on a host of back-drops and huge blow-up figures — the quintessential symbol was omnipresent for the entire show” including Eddie having his heart literally ripped out of his chest and hurled into the crowd by singer Bruce Dickinson!"
Support on the trek will come from GHOST. There will also be some further bands added to the show at San Bernardino.

Jul. 19 - Mansfield, MA - Xfinity Center
Jul. 21 - Brooklyn, NY - Barclays Arena
IRON MAIDEN bassist Steve Harris commented: "We are really looking forward to returning to North America for a full tour. We had always planned to go back there and to the U.K. as last year, due to the global nature of the tour and the period it took, we just didn't have time to cover them properly and we do still like to get to fans in as many places as possible!
"So this year we're able to reach many more cities in America, including a return to places MAIDEN haven't played for many, many years like Lincoln Nebraska, Minneapolis, Oklahoma City and Oakland, California. We also welcome playing in Brooklyn for the first time.
"We will, of course, be bringing the full production with us, including all the Eddies and the Maya-themed stage sets. There's been a great reaction from everyone to this tour's theme, people really seem to love it. We're still deciding on the final setlist and we'll work that out once we get into rehearsals. Most of our North American fans haven't seen the show yet so as we want to give them the same 'Book Of Souls' live experience that we took around the world, it's unlikely we'll change much. And of course we know our fans appreciate us playing a lot of the older songs too, so we will continue to do that!"
Tickets start going on sale Friday, January 27 — check IronMaiden.com for market specific info. As usual, there will be an exclusive pre-sale for IRON MAIDEN fan club members, details of which can also be found on IronMaiden.com along with information on how fan club members can participate in the draw to be "First To The Barrier".
After great feedback to last year's North American trial of the concept, Maiden fans will again be able to enjoy a Trooper VIP Upgrade package that will allow them early access to the venue, a pile of Trooper goodies and MAIDEN swag, Trooper beers, food and a designated area to meet with other fans, plus the opportunity to win some great prizes. The upgrade packages are available at US$199 from TrooperVIP.com. The concert ticket must be purchased separately.
For the 2017 shows, MAIDEN will once again, in conjunction with the promoters, be implementing a partial paperless ticketing system in as many venues as possible, which they have been successfully doing since 2010 and has worked well in lessening the ticketing scalping and drain of the prime tickets into the Secondary Ticketing sites.
"The Book Of Souls" is MAIDEN's first ever double studio album and their most successful chart-wise to date, debuting at the No. 1 spot in over 40 countries around the world and No. 4 in the U.S.A

QUEEN FT ADAM LAMBERT RETURN FOR NORTH AMERICAN TOUR
QUEEN and "American Idol" finalist Adam Lambert will embark on a summer North American tour that will launch June 23 at Phoenix's Gila River Arena and wrap on August 5 at Houston's Toyota Center.
Tickets for the 25-city trek will go on sale Friday, February 3 at 10 a.m. local time via Live Nation. Members of QUEEN and Adam Lambert's fan clubs can buy tickets beginning Tuesday, January 31 at 10 a.m.
Lambert, drummer Roger Taylor and guitarist Brian May first shared the stage during "American Idol" in May 2009 for a performance of "We Are The Champions". They teamed up again in 2011 at the MTV European Music Awards in Belfast, Ireland for an electrifying eight-minute finale of "The Show Must Go On", "We Will Rock You" and "We Are The Champions" and in the summer of 2012, Lambert performed a series of shows with QUEEN across Europe as well as dates in Russia, Ukraine and Poland. They have since completed several tours and performed at some of the biggest festivals in the world.
Last November, Taylor spoke to Planet Rock about QUEEN's plans to release more music: "If we do anything in the future, I'd like it to be something new. I don't know how new it would sound, but I think if Brian could come up with a song or two which we felt, sort of, fitted, you know."
Asked if there is a chance that QUEEN could release new material, Taylor said: "It's quite possible. We're really enjoying… We've just come back from the Far East — well, a month ago now — which was phenomenal. It's great to know that there's still a demand, and we do love playing with Adam Lambert, who is an incredible singer and a lovely man."
May previously described Lambert as the only singer the band had found capable of filling the shoes of iconic frontman Freddie Mercury, who died in 1991 of complications from to AIDS. "Adam is the first person we've encountered who can do all the QUEEN catalogue without blinking," said May. "He is a gift from God." Taylor echoed the guitarist's sentiments, adding: "[Adam's] incredibly musical, and we certainly take anything he says quite seriously."
Lambert, for his part, downplayed the Mercury comparisons, saying: "There's never going to be another, and I'm not replacing him. That's not what I'm doing. I'm trying to keep the memory alive, and remind people how amazing he was, without imitating him. I'm trying to share with the audience how much he inspired me."

MASTODON RELEASE NEW ALBUM DETAILS
Atlanta heavy rock icons MASTODON will release their eighth studio album, "Emperor Of Sand", on March 31 via Reprise Records. The follow-up to 2014's "Once More 'Round The Sun" is available for pre-order beginning today at www.mastodonrocks.com. The deluxe pre-order package will contain the album on double 180-gram vinyl housed in a gatefold jacket along with a bonus Color-In-Your-Own vinyl jacket, plus an exclusive box of MASTODON colored pencils. In addition, fans will receive a digital copy of the entire album on March 31, along with an instant download of the album track "Sultan's Curse". "Emperor Of Sand" will also be available digitally and on CD.
The typically stunning "Emperor Of Sand" album artwork was created by Alan Brown, a.k.a. Medusawolf, who is also responsible for the inside gatefold images.
"Emperor Of Sand" finds MASTODON returning to a deeply imaginative and complex conceptual storyline that ponders the nature of time. Threading together the myth of a man sentenced to death in a majestically malevolent desert, the band conjures the grains of a musical and lyrical odyssey slipping quickly through a cosmic hourglass.
"'Emperor of sand' is like the grim reaper," says drummer/vocalist Brann Dailor. "Sand represents time. If you or anyone you know has ever received a terminal diagnosis, the first thought is about time. Invariably, you ask, 'How much time is left?'"
"We're reflecting on mortality," adds bassist/vocalist Troy Sanders. "To that end, the album ties into our entire discography. It's 17 years in the making, but it's also a direct reaction to the last two years. We tend to draw inspiration from very real things in our lives."
"Emperor Of Sand" was recorded at The Quarry Recording Studio in Kennesaw, just outside MASTODON's hometown of Atlanta, with producer Brendan O'Brien (PEARL JAM, NEIL YOUNG, AC/DC, RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE), who first worked with MASTODON on their seminal 2009 album "Crack The Skye".
Over the course of MASTODON's career, the band members have fearlessly continued to push themselves towards greater creative heights on their recorded output. Each studio album has united an ever-expanding worldwide legion of fans who have come to expect the unexpected twists and turns that have elevated MASTODON to become one of the most respected and influential creative forces in rock music.

GEOFF NICHOLLS PASSED AWAY FROM LUNG CANCER
Former BLACK SABBATH keyboardist Geoff Nicholls died this morning after a long battle with lung cancer. He was 68 years old.
Nicholls's passing was confirmed by SABBATH guitarist Tony Iommi, who wrote about his former bandmate: "I'm so saddened to hear the loss of one of my dearest and closest friends Geoff Nicholls. He's been suffering for a while now with lung cancer and he lost his battle this morning. Geoff and I have always been very close and he has been a real true friend to me and supported me all the way for nearly 40 years. I will miss him dearly and he will live in my heart until we meet again. Rest in peace, my dear friend."
Added SABBATH bassist Geezer Butler: "Very sad to hear of old friend and SABBATH keyboard player Geoff Nicholls passing. RIP Geoff."
Said SABBATH singer Ozzy Osbourne: "Geoff Nicholls was a great friend of mine for a long time. He will be greatly missed. I'm very saddened at the news."
Nicholls, who played keyboards on all of SABBATH's albums between 1980 and 1995 and toured with them, was reportedly in remission from cancer at the time of his death but succumbed to the side effects of chemotherapy.
Nicholls's first appearance on a SABBATH album was on 1980's "Heaven And Hell". Although his main role with SABBATH was on the keyboard, Nicholls also played some rhythm guitar at concerts. In addition to not always being credited as a full member of the band, Nicholls rarely appeared on stage during SABBATH shows and would instead play on the side of the stage or backstage.
Nicholls's involvement with the band ended when Adam Wakeman (a member of Ozzy Osbourne's solo band) was chosen to play keyboards during SABBATH's 2004 and 2005 tours as part of Ozzfest.
Nicholls also played keyboards with former BLACK SABBATH singer Tony Martin in his band TONY MARTIN'S HEADLESS CROSS and performed on both of Martin's solo albums.
Martin said: "Saddened to hear of the passing of Geoff Nicholls... keyboard player and friend from SABBATH. Safe journey, mate."
Before joining BLACK SABBATH, Nicholls was member of the NWOBHM (New Wave Of British Heavy Metal) band QUARTZ, whose 1977 debut album was produced by Iommi. In the late 1960s and early 1970s, Geoff played lead guitar for the Birmingham band JOHNNY NEAL AND THE STARLINERS

RONNIE JAMES DIO HOLOGRAM TO MAKE U.S. DEBUT
A hologram of the late Ronnie James Dio will make its U.S. debut at the 28th annual Pollstar Awards on February 2 at the The Novo (formerly Club Nokia) in Los Angeles, California. Created by Eyellusion, the appearance of the heavy metal icon will take place during a performance by DIO DISCIPLES, which pays tribute to Ronnie and is fully supported by his widow/manager, Wendy.
Pollstar Awards honors the best of the worldwide concert industry as the concluding event of Pollstar Live!, which will be held January 31 to February 2 at the J.W. Marriott hotel.
DIO DISCIPLES features former DIO members Simon Wright (drums), Craig Goldy (guitar) and Scott Warren (keyboards) alongside vocalist Tim "Ripper" Owens (JUDAS PRIEST, ICED EARTH, YNGWIE MALMSTEEN) and bassist Bjorn Englen (YNGWIE MALMSTEEN). They are joined by singers Oni Logan (LYNCH MOB) and Joe Retta (SWEET, HEAVEN & EARTH).
Wendy and Eyellusion's Jeff Pezzuti will discuss the Dio hologram earlier that day at a Pollstar Live! panel, "The Hologram Experience", where they will be joined by APA's Troy Blakely and TKO's Andrew Goodfriend, among others.
The Dio hologram was first introduced at last year's Wacken Open Air festival in Germany.
Pezzuti recently revealed plans for a 2017 tour featuring the hologram, which will showcase various eras of the legendary metal singer's career.
"For the tour, he's going to have different looks," Pezzuti told the "Talking Metal" podcast. At Wacken, the hologram was built around Dio's image from "somewhere around '88, the 'Dream Evil' era. For this next tour, we're going to be somewhere later than that for certain songs and maybe earlier than that for other songs."
Pezzuti went on to promise "an over-the-top, mind-blowing experience. We are going to have both live singers with Ripper Owens and Oni Logan as part of the show, as well as Ronnie appearing throughout the show at different parts, some duets. It's going to be mind blowing from the fans' perspective. We are going to bring album covers to life. We are going to bring things that are known to Ronnie to life onstage."
The concerts will include several classic tracks from Ronnie, Pezzuti revealed. "Ronnie will be involved in each show from probably six to seven songs a night that he will be singing on," Jeff said. "Some of the ones we can expect are 'We Rock', 'Holy Diver' and 'Rainbow In The Dark'."
Wendy, who manages DIO DISCIPLES and is affiliated with the Eyellusion team, said last year that she was blown away by the initial public appearance of the Ronnie James Dio hologram. "When I first experienced the full production of Ronnie performing with his band as a hologram, I couldn't believe my eyes and ears," she said. "We have been able to get Ronnie back up on stage where he belongs, ensuring that his music and memory live on."
Goldy defended DIO DISCIPLES' decision to perform with the Dio hologram, saying: "We know how much the fans miss Ronnie and the special and unequaled element that he brought to his live performances. Being able to recreate that same kind of magic for his fans at Wacken was incredible. For so many years, Ronnie always invested big in his live shows as his way to give back to the fans, and that is exactly what we aimed to do with this latest performance. We can't wait to bring this experience to even more of his fans and perhaps even a newer generation when we bring this incredible live experience on the road.

Cover Art: Andreas Marschall
"When writing records the song titles and album titles are always the last things on our minds,” said vocalist John Tardy. “We know that the songs themselves are the most important thing, so with this our 10th studio album and nearly three decades as a band, we thought it was the perfect time for a self-titled release. It always helps to have a killer album cover so we worked with Andreas Marschall, gave him our ideas and thoughts and asked him to break out the big guns to create an epic logo and he delivered like he always has for Obituary".
The band further added:
"We could not be any more excited about this new album. We had a blast writing and recording it and having Ken and Terry as part of the writing process was a very cool experience for all of us. We really took our time with the writing process of these new songs, recording riffs and ideas as we went along and recording them as rough mixes then listening back and making necessary changes to help mold them into the songs that we are extremely proud of.
It's always a challenge in the studio to get the song ideas out of your head onto the recording the way you want but we made sure we were comfortable with the songs and the sounds we were getting before we even hit the record button and it made it a great experience. It's hard to believe it's been 2 1/2 years since the release of inked in blood and we are so excited to get this new album into the hands of our fans. Can't wait for everyone to hear it, hang on to your ass!!!!"

ENSLAVED'S KEYBOARDIST PARTS WAYS
Ivar Bjørnson, Enslaved guitarist and co-founder of By Norse comments on the event: "New York, we can not thank you enough for this wonderful weekend, New York By Norse, and fantastic end of year celebration for Enslaved 25. From the epic shows at Scandinavia House to us closing the ball at Gramercy Saturday – it has been days we will never forget. For your enthusiasm, encouraging and personal feedback and relentless support and dedication: we salute you; the fans, media and partners that made this all possible! See you soon, for the next 25"
The end of the By Norse event is also the moment we chose to announce that our keyboard player Herbrand Larsen took the decision to leave Enslaved. Grutle Kjellson comments: "Friends of Enslaved, brothers and sisters! Nothing lasts forever, and we have something to announce. Our keyboardist and vocalist for the last 13 years, Herbrand Larsen is leaving the band. There is no drama in connection with his departure, it was entirely his own decision, and we part ways as friends and with no bad blood in between us.
We want to thank Herbrand for his duties in Enslaved in all these years, for standing alongside us on our adventures all over the world. We had some really good times on the road, in the recording studios and in our practice space. We raise our glasses, and wish you all the best on your next voyage! Thank you friend!"
Herbrand Larsen adds: "After 13 years of being a part of this amazing band it saddens me to say that I will be leaving Enslaved. It was not an easy decision to come to! I love Enslaved and will always do. There is no drama or anger involved in this. I think we all understand why this is the best decision both for me and the band.
I don’t have that 100% drive anymore, the drive you need to be in a band like Enslaved. Only 99% and that is not enough. It’s hard to explain but this is how it is. I remember all the shows we have done together. All the places we have been and all the fans that we’ve met. I remember meeting fans, telling me that our music really means something to them. I remember traveling places I never thought I would see. I remember working with extremely talented people. I remember tough times, sad times but most of all, all the good times. You have all been a huge part of my life and will still be.
For that I’m truly grateful! I’m looking forward to spend more time in the studio. Recording, producing and mixing music. That’s where I want my focus and my drive to be. To Arve, Cato, Grutle and Ivar, thank you for your friendship, your creativity and your support. I wouldn’t be who I am today if it wasn’t for you guys. I am sure you will be even better, stronger and more successful in the future. And you will still continue to be my friends and a big part of my life. Thank you!"

Just prior to tour kick off, Rhino Records will release a six-CD box set ($39.98) of classic SEPULTURA records, titled "The Roadrunner Albums". The collection will also be released on vinyl as a six-LP set with each album pressed in a different color ($99.98). The collection combines SEPULTURA's debut EP, "Bestial Devastation", with the group's first six studio albums: "Morbid Visions" (1986), "Schizophrenia" (1987), "Beneath The Remains" (1989), "Arise" (1991), "Chaos A.D." (1993), and "Roots" (1996). The set hits stores on January 27, and pre-orders will be available soon.
Max and Igor first played all of "Roots" at this year's edition of the Amnesia Rockfest on June 24.
Max spoke to Holland's FaceCulture about how he looks back on the "Roots" album twenty years later. He said: "Yeah, [the personal stuff around the band] was chaotic, but musically, it was good. I think 'Roots' is an excellent record. It's a very brave record. It's a very fearless record in terms of saying, 'We're gonna do this. No matter what people say, we're gonna do it.' And we did it. And it was a huge risk. Not many bands take that risk. And we stuck to our guns and put the album out. And I think it was a very interesting record, because I think it was the beginning of my experiences in world music, which I really love, and bringing metal… making metal different. You can combine indigenous sounds and stuff with metal and make something cool with it. So I think 'Roots' was the blueprint for all that; it was like the first one that was like that. We went to the Xavantes tribe and recorded with them. It was killer. It was an amazing experience."

METALLICA'S KIRK HAMMETT PROMISES US TOUR IN 2017
According to The Pulse Of Radio, METALLICA has not done a full-length U.S. tour in more than seven years, but lead guitarist Kirk Hammett promises that the band will end that dry spell in 2017. Speaking with Billboard.com, Hammett said that the band's home country will finally get the trek it deserves. "We're very excited about it because it's been a long, long time since we've done a proper American tour," he said. "I mean, we've done European tours, Asian tours, South American tours, but we have not done a proper American tour as of late. So we're very, very excited about it, and we're very excited to be able to do it bringing new material to all our fans out there."
METALLICA will be touring in support of its tenth studio album, "Hardwired... To Self-Destruct", the band's first all-new studio effort in eight years.
The album went to No. 1 in 58 countries, including the U.S., where it topped The Billboard 200 album chart.
Hammett also hinted at METALLICA bringing out a "special stage" for the tour, adding, "It's gonna be really cool, really fun and very METALLICA."
The band has recently played a smattering of charity club shows. Following one last small gig in Oakland on Saturday night (December 17), the group will break for the holidays before heading overseas in January for shows in Asia, Europe and South America. The North American run is likely to start sometime in the spring.

KREATOR UNVEILS "SATAN IS REAL" VIDEO AND DECIBEL MAGAZINE TOUR 2017
The official video for the song "Satan Is Real" from German thrash titans KREATOR can be seen below. The clip was once again filmed with renowned video production company Grupa13, which has previously worked with AMON AMARTH, BEHEMOTH and ELUVEITIE. The track is taken from the band's upcoming album, "Gods Of Violence", which will be released on January 27, 2017 via Nuclear Blast Records.
Commented KREATOR frontman Mille Petrozza: "Hordes! Here is the second video of the demon trilogy we have come up with with the great people from Grupa13. Enjoy our new single 'Satan Is Real'!"
The cover artwork for "Gods Of Violence" was created by renowned artist Jan Meininghaus, who also made the limited-edition artwork for KREATOR's last album, 2012's "Phantom Antichrist", and has lent his talents to bands like BOLT THROWER, ACCEPT and OVERKILL in the past.
The exclusive North American cover was created by renowned artist Marcelo Vasco, who has previously worked with SLAYER, MACHINE HEAD, SOULFLY and HATEBREED.
The track listing is as follows:
02. World War Now
03. Satan Is Real
04. Totalitarian Terror
05. Gods Of Violence
06. Army Of Storms
07. Hail To The Hordes
08. Lion With Eagle Wings
09. Fallen Brother
10. Side By Side
11. Death Becomes My Light
Regarding the "Gods Of Violence" title track, Petrozza said: "'Gods Of Violence' was the first song I wrote for this album and it stuck to me as the title track. It contains everything KREATOR is known for and it will blow your minds. Promise!" He added about the album artwork: "The cover of is a perfect reflection of my lyrical vision. I think this is Jan Meininghaus's best work so far."
KREATOR will tour Europe in support of the new CD beginning in early February. Petrozza and his crew will be accompanied by a varied as well as iconic billing. Brazilian-American extreme metal pioneers SEPULTURA are direct support to the headliners, followed by visionary Swedish melodic death metallers SOILWORK and Belgium's finest death/grind outfit ABORTED.
Speaking about the five-year gap between 2012's "Phantom Antichrist" album and the upcoming "Gods Of Violence", Mille told Metal Wani: "It didn't seem that long, to be honest, because we have been touring so much. And I think in order to come up with something relevant and something exciting, it's definitely important to take some time off, and hat's what we did. After the extensive touring cycle for 'Phantom Antichrist', we just took almost… not two years off — we played a couple of festivals — but, basically, we didn't do much in '15 and until now [in] '16; those two years were free of any long touring. And so, yeah, being able to do this was a luxury, but was also necessary in order to come up with something great."
Mille also talked about the songwriting process for "Gods Of Violence", explaining: "We just wanted to write new songs that are just, 'Wow!' I think that's basically what we had in mind. One thing that we were all conscious about was that we needed to come up with an album that blows everyone away. So whatever it takes, we do. That's the only conscious decision that we made — to come up with something exciting; that's the key."
Regarding KREATOR's decision to return to Fascination Street Studios in Örebro, Sweden to record "Gods Of Violence" with producer Jens Bogren (OPETH, AMON AMARTH, KATATONIA), Mille said: "It was fantastic. We had a great time. We knew the location, we knew the studio, and it was really cool. And it was summertime this time, so it was a lot easier, really. It was nice."
KREATOR will headline next year's edition of the annual Decibel Magazine Tour. Support on the trek will come from Florida death metal legends OBITUARY, old-school Ohio brutalizers MIDNIGHT and celebrated progressive death prodigies HORRENDOUS (with regional openers in select markets to be announced next year).

In several interviews, CARACH ANGREN clarified: "We are not and have never been a Satanic black metal outfit. We are a horror metal band telling supernatural stories on our albums and during our theatrical live performances."
The Dutch masters of horror furthermore strongly rejected the accusation that they would lead youth to actions like that committed by Norwegian right-wing terrorist and Christian extremist Anders Breivik as insidiously claimed by Mr. Stoffels. In a sign of goodwill and forgiveness, CARACH ANGREN sent their latest album and a lollipop to the politician.
Dutch media broadly reported the case and unanimously condemned this blatant attack on the freedom of art and speech. A selection of commentary and interviews is provided below.

The album was captured live in Norrköping, Sweden last year during the band's headlining set at the Black Christmass Festival. The show marked MAYHEM's first time ever playing De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas in full.
Notes the band of first single "From The Dark Past," "'From The Dark Past' has not been played many times live before, yet is in many ways an archetypical song from the band, containing key elements that are scattered throughout the rest of the album - blizzard blast beats and eerie atmospherics, all of course adorned by vocalist Attila Csihar's unique voice within the genre. De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas is widely considered one of the most influential black metal albums of all time, and this is the first time in history this classic album from 1994 is performed live in its entirety."
De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas Alive was recorded, mixed and mastered by Tore Stjerna and NBS Audio and produced by Csihar and guitarist Teloch with light production by Anne Weckstrom, stage design and production by Jonas Svensson, video recording by Thornfields Production and video editing by Tamàs Tarczi. Joining with founding members: legendary guitar virtuoso, MICHAEL ANGELO BATIO, and glass-shattering vocalist, JIM GILLETTE, is one of today's most respected and revered metal drummer's, CHRIS ADLER (Lamb of God).
"I'm not sure who keeps giving my phone number to the most talented musicians on the planet but, I couldn't be more thrilled! I used to wonder what a metal band would sound like with all the cheat codes unlocked and well, I don't wonder about that anymore. I'm blown away by the modern sound and groove in the material. The chaos has been harnessed and it's incredibly heavy." ADLER said.
States BATIO: "I can't wait to get onstage with these guys! Inspirational is an understatement."
"I'm honored to be surrounded by such insanely talented musicians. I mean, Michael and Chris are the best of the best. So yeah, it's very exciting, humbling and even a little intimidating. To be honest, I'm less intimidated when I get in the ring with a 300-pound monster that wants to tear my head off!" added GILLETTE.
NITRO is currently writing and is scheduled to start recording next month with GRAMMY-winning producer, JOSH WILBUR (Lamb of God, Avenged Sevenfold, KORN, Megadeth, Hatebreed and many more). An anticipated release is Spring of 2017 with a world tour to follow.

ANIMALS AS LEADERS SHARE NEW SONG FROM UPCOMING RECORD
"This album feels like total synergy between the three of us,” says guitar player Tosin Abasi. “None of this music would have turned out the same way without the equal inclusion of all of our musical ideas and that feel special. We're beyond thrilled with the result."
Animals As Leaders produced the 10-track album, with guitar player Javier Reyes handling mixing duties. Reyes also commented on the symbiotic nature of the new album, adding, “The Madness of Many is an explorative and ambitious journey of harmony, rhythm, musical expression and emotion. It has been the most collaborative effort for the band and an evolution in each of the members’ musical path.” Drummer Matt Garstka noted that, “although conceptually dense, it is the most natural sounding Animals As Leaders album yet.”

ENSLAVED STREAM "HEIMVEGEN" FROM SLEEPING GODS- THORN RELEASE
In advance of its release, the band is currently streaming "Heimvegen" for communal worship. Check out the epic track at THIS LOCATION or via Spotify.
The Sleeping Gods - Thorn will see release on limited edition blue vinyl (webshop edition), black vinyl, digipak CD, and digitally via By Norse Music. Preorder bundles are currently available at THIS LOCATION. Digital preorders are available via iTunes HERE and Apple HERE.
The seven tracks comprising The Sleeping Gods - Thorn originally appeared on extremely limited EPs between ENSLAVED's Axioma Ethica Odini and Riitiir full-lengths and were recorded both in Solslottet Studio in Bergen, as well as the band members' own studios and partly in the deep woods of Valevaag on the south western coast of Norway. Like the songs themselves, the production is a mix of old and new; high tech and no-tech - a mix of concepts that have been essential in achieving the signature sound ENSLAVED has become notorious for today. Members Ivar Bjørnson and Grutle Kjellson co-produced the material together with long-time collaborator Iver Sandøy.
The Sleeping Gods - Thorn includes lyrics sung in Norwegian, English, and Old Norse, with themes centered on mythology and the esoteric side of the runes, as well as contrasting the Norse Ways as a polytheistic belief system to the monotheistic plague of the Big World Religions. The music nods respectfully to the wildly varying deities that make up the pantheon of inspiration for ENSLAVED, both "then" and "now." There are traces of the proto black metal of Bathory, the classic rock and heavy metal of the '70s and '80s, the synthesized and sequenced masters of the '70s, prog-rock, world/Norse folk music, Norwegian black metal of the '90s, modern classical music, goth rock a la Fields Of The Nephilim, and much more.
Tying he package together are the extensive liner notes Kjellson and a beautiful new layout by Costin Chioreanu of Twilight 13 Media (Roadburn Festival, Opeth, Darkthrone, At The Gates, etc.) whose mesmerizing new illustrations display a unique symbiosis between two of our times' most exciting visual and sonic artists.
