Montreal's own KATAKLYSM has announced the following statement regarding the departure of Max, but filling those shoes will be Oli Beaudoin. Read the statements from the band, Max, and Oli below:

“We are here today to announce that Oli Beaudoin will remain behind the throne as the drummer for KATAKLYSM on the next album and future tours. Max has informed that he cannot continue or return to the ranks at this time due to physical health issues. KATAKLYSM welcomes Oli on board as we forge on. Max remains our brother and will always be a part of KATAKLYSM. Those who saw him in Montreal playing the ‘Road To Devastation’ with us at the end of the show, saw that even with severe pain the boy still has the chops to perform. We wish him well and know our paths will cross again.”

Max Duhamel explains his decision to leave the band:

"After facing my problems head on this last year and having many sessions of therapy, I’m glad to say I have my alcohol intake under control now. I can happily have a beer or two here and there, or none at all, and totally be functional without any worries. I’m a much happier man and more focused than ever. I do terribly miss my boys in KATAKLYSM (the touring and making albums with them etc.) but while I was under therapy I decided to fix other issues with my health as well: the physical part this time. I always had shooting pains in my left arm, but I dealt with it in silence and kept it from everyone. Sometimes it would go numb and my wrist and entire arm would lock up during concerts. It gave me anxiety and made me angry which didn't help my mental state. I'm currently going through rehabilitation to restore my arm to the best of its abilities, but I cannot give the KATAKLYSM songs justice at the moment. It wouldn’t be fair to the boys, and it wouldn’t be fair to the fans and myself to continue. I need to take care of my health 100% before I can consider playing on a pro level again, like I know I’m capable of doing. We will see what the future holds. There’s always a surprise in the air waiting to happen. I’ll keep in touch with all my fans and friends through my personal Facebook. Thank you for the incredible support and all the kind words; they really helped to lift my spirits during these hard times."

"I'm stoked to now officially be welcomed as a permanent member of KATKALYSM,” adds new drummer Beaudoin. “The last two years with the guys have been a real blast. J-F, Maurizio and Steph are coolest bandmates I've had the chance to be with. The last album we wrote together in 2013 also proved that we share a common musical vision for this band. I'm just thrilled to pursue this endeavor and help push this band to a new level for the years to come."

Montreal based metal band ENDAST are introducing their fourth studio offering entitled “Thrive” . Produced by Bjorn Strid of Soilwork and Jon Howard of Threat Signal at Howard's own Woodward Avenue Studios in Hamilton, Ontario.

The Production duo also provide guest appearances for the songs “Ocean of regrets”(Strid) and “This is ours” (Howard)

The album did garner some attention from labels. However, ultimately Endast decided that what was best was to stick to the formula that has served them well over the years.

“We're going to put the album out ourselves and tour like fucking crazy...” says vocalist\frontman Big James Arsenian. “At the end of the day, labels simply won't negotiate with a band like us when there are plenty of bands out there willing to jump at any offer that is presented to them. Our work ethic is solid and we have a great album on our hands that we're extremely proud of. We don't need more than that.”

"Working with Endast on their album Thrive was one of the best studio experiences I've had with a band to date.” says co-producer Jon Howard, vocalist of Threat Signal [Nuclear Blast]. “Very professional and motivated musicians who put everything they have into their music. You can really hear the passion of each member within these songs. They brought some amazing music to the table, and together we shaped this album into something very unique and special. It was honestly a pleasure to be a part of this experience and such a great time working with the boys. Endast's album Thrive represents Canadian metal at its finest!"

“...I'm really impressed. It's a great bunch of people. I had so much fun.” adds Bjorn Strid.

“Thrive” drops April 28th, 2014. Presale of the album is available at the bands online store (http://endast.bandcamp.com).

Their first single “Your Best Stories Are Victories” can be viewed here:

Last month, UK metal-core outfit Architects (UK) released their latest studio album Lost Forever, Lost Together on New Damage Records in Canada. Today, the band has released a mini-documentary on the making of their new record that captures behind-the-scenes footage from the recording studio and in-depth interviews with each band member. To watch The Making of Lost Forever, Lost Together visit: http://bit.ly/1lIGO3W
Lost Forever, Lost Together is Architect (UK)’S sixth studio album. The record, which has amassed widespread critical acclaim, artfully delivers an emotional charge that’s both devastating and glorious, with lyrics delving into everything from the Fukushima nuclear disaster to Architects (UK)'s guitarist/keyboardist/chief songwriter Tom Searle’s recent bout with skin cancer. Alternative Press praises, "There are few bands who blend juddering metallic violence with aching melancholia with quite as much skill and conviction as Architects (UK) do", while The Guardian commends the four piece “Architects have toughened up in every department here and made a frequently brutal and complex album that belies metalcore’s on-going stagnation.”
Recently nominated for “Best UK Band” in the Metal Hammer Golden God Awards, Architects (UK) are currently headlining a tour across Europe. The band plans to return to North America later this year, with further details to come shortly.

Jason McCash, former bassist, co-songwriter and co-lyricist for Indianapolis doomsters THE GATES OF SLUMBER, has reportedly passed away. He was 37 years old.

In a posting on Facebook, THE GATES OF SLUMBER vocalist/guitarist Karl Simon wrote: "My best friend died last night.

"There will be no reunion — no more of THE GATES OF SLUMBER. It's dead beyond dead, and I've lost a brother.

"Please be respectful or silent. It's a small world and I'm still alive. Remember that shit."
McCash announced his departure from THE GATES OF SLUMBER last September, explaining that it was "just time for me to leave."

THE GATES OF SLUMBER's "Death March" video can be seen below. The song comes off the band's "Stormcrow" EP, which was released on January 29, 2013 via Scion Audio/Visual, (a.k.a. Scion A/V), the in-house record label and lifestyle marketing division of the Scion marque produced by Toyota Motor Corporation for the North American market. The CD was recorded by Sanford Parker and it features cover artwork by Dave Quiggle.

THE GATES OF SLUMBER in 2012 parted amicably with drummer J. Clyde Paradis, who recorded and toured behind the 2011 album "The Wretch" (Rise Above Records).

THE GATES OF SLUMBER started in 1998 as a backlash against the stoner rock trend prevalent at the time and with their mixture of BLACK SABBATH, SAINT VITUS, PENTAGRAM, and prime-era CELTIC FROST, the band has crushed or converted unbelievers ever since.

"The Wretch" was released in May 2011 via Rise Above/Metal Blade. The CD was recorded at England's Orgone Studios with producer Jaime Gomez Arellano (GHOST, ANGEL WITCH).

German heavy metal legends ACCEPT have announced Blind Rage as the title to their third studio album since their 2010 comeback and fourteenth studio album of their career. Set for release this summer in North America, Blind Rage will be produced, mixed, and mastered by Andy Sneap (EXODUS, MEGADETH, OPETH, ARCH ENEMY).

“Something happened to us, something subliminal and impetuous,” states ACCEPT guitarist and main songwriter Wolf Hoffmann. “It is wild and scary and it’s called Blind Rage! The cover artwork done by Daniel Goldsworthy shows the beast coming over us - in blind rage - all over the planet. Wherever we go, whenever you turn on the TV, there is blind rage in the works – either natural catastrophes or man-made madness.”

Proudly representing the “Made in Germany” trademark, ACCEPT fashioned distinct musical blueprints that have influenced multiple generations of followers. They have kept their music and artistry relevant around the world and have overcome staggering odds to maintain international careers for over three decades.
The band’s 2010 career comeback album, Blood Of The Nations, debuted at #25 on the iTunes Top Rock Albums chart and at #187 on the Billboard Top 200 chart. In Canada, the album debuted at #53 on the Nielsen Soundscan Top Hard Albums chart.

ACCEPT’s 2012 album, Stalingrad, debuted at #81 on the Billboard Top 200 and clinched the #13 position on the Top Independent Albums chart. In Canada, the album debuted at #101 on the Top 200 Albums chart and #7 on the Top Hard Music Albums chart.

This is to inform you that HATE have amicably parted ways with longtime drummer Hexen. The band cited artistic differences as grounds for this. Hexen has appeared on three of the band's albums Morphosis (2008), Erebos (2010) and Solarflesh (2013), and has contributed much to overall sound of the band. Founding member Atf Sinner comments: "After creating "Solarflesh" we all felt that something has come to an end. It was like writing last pages of a book, a conclusion. Not long ago Hexen informed us that he decided to go his own path to work on his projects. We part ways with him with mutual respect and understanding and we look forward to embracing the next chapter of HATE. We wish him nothing but the best. He is our brother and it will stay so forever."

Hexen: "For a long time I have wanted to try myself in other musical styles. Knowing that Hate demands 100% dedication, I was aware that I would not be able to combine my other artistic plans with commitments that the band has made. That is why I decide to leave. I will now pursue my plan and hope for it to bear fruit soon. On the other hand, I believe that we may perform together again in the future. I wish the guys further successes. I myself know best how much work it takes to get to the next level."

HATE Soon after released the following statement unveiling their new full-time drummer:

"We are proud to inform you that Pavulon has joined HATE as a full-time drummer! I must say this was not a hard choice, because we have known Pavulon for years and always admired his dedication to the music and development he has made being in groups such as Crionics, Vader, Decapitated and Antigama. Having played a couple of shows together, we now strongly feel that he is the right man in the right place. I have no doubt that his drumming skills will bring in some extra power to our live sound as well as new songs. He will be appearing on the upcoming album, which will be followed up with more details soon. We have been working on the new material for months now and I am hoping we get in the studio by June and start tracking. In a few days we start European tour with Kampfar (below). Remember not to miss that! To sum up, I want to say we have long needed some new blood and energy and finally we got it. Now I am looking forward to the challenges that lay ahead to make HATE shine brighter than ever!"

At Saturday night’s Juno Awards in Canada, Protest The Hero received the Juno for Best Metal/ Hard Music Album for their cd, Volition. The band was appearing in Wilmington, NC as part of their second North American tour for Volition when they received the news.

Guitarist Tim Millar reacts to the news by saying, “We are very proud to be recognized by the Juno Awards for Best Metal/Hard Music Album of 2013. 2013 was a crazy year and without all the hard work of the people that made the record come to life, and all the people the contributed to the  record before hearing a single note, this album would not have been possible. We are forever in your debt.”
Guitarist Luke Hoskin adds, "We are thrilled with our recent Juno win! We had incredible company in our category and it could have gone to anyone.  We remain proud Canadians even though we are currently touring south of the border.  Thanks for all the support!"

Volition was funded 100% by fans through an Indiegogo campaign in 2013. The band then licensed the record to Sony Canada, Razor & Tie, and Spinefarm for worldwide distribution.

MARCH 24th 2014
GWAR's manager, Jack Flanagan, has released the following statement:

"It is with a saddened heart that I confirm my dear friend Dave Brockie, artist, musician, and lead singer of GWAR, passed away at approximately 6:50 p.m. EST Sunday, March 23, 2014. His body was found Sunday by his bandmate at his home in Richmond, Virginia. Richmond authorities have confirmed his death and next of kin has been notified. A full autopsy will be performed. He was 50 years old, born August 30, 1963.

"My main focus right now is to look after my bandmates and his family.
"More information regarding his death shall be released as the details are confirmed."
The original article follows below.

Dave Brockie, better known as Oderus Urungus, the founder and lead singer of renowned Richmond, Virginia metal band GWAR, has died. Roommates reportedly found Brockie's body at his home Sunday evening (March 23). "I wish it was a joke," former GWAR bassist Chris Bopst, a music writer for Style Weekly, told the site. "Everyone is in shock." Brockie was 50 years old. Richmond Police also confirmed Brockie's death.

"At approximately 6:53 p.m. on Sunday, Richmond Police were called to a residence in the 4800 block of West Seminary Avenue for a report of a deceased individual," a Richmond Police spokeswoman said in a statement. "When officers arrived, they found David M. Brockie, 50, deceased inside the home. Detectives do not suspect foul play at this time and the Medical Examiner's Office will determine cause of death."

"Dave was one of the funniest, smartest, most creative and energetic persons I've known," former GWAR bassist Mike Bishop told Style Weekly. "He was brash sometimes, always crass, irreverent, he was hilarious in every way. But he was also deeply intelligent and interested in life, history, politics and art. His penchant for scatological humors belied a lucid wit. He was a criminally underrated lyricist and hard rock vocalist, one of the best, ever! A great frontman, a great painter, writer, he was also a hell of a bass guitarist. I loved him. He was capable of great empathy and had a real sense of justice."
