Almost didn’t get to see this show, but it all worked out, a good thing too as two of these bands are on my favourites list, and I had heard that In This Moment are pretty darned good too. I am about to find out.

First up tonight, July 28th at the White River Amphitheatre in Auburn, Washington is IN THIS MOMENT. I didn’t know what to expect, I have never heard them, or seen them before. Wow!! Was I impressed, if you like rock, metal and a whole lot more, then this is the band for you. Most things rock I truly enjoy, but when they came on stage, you got a whole lot more. A very theatrical experience, excellent music, one that you just cannot sit down to watch, it is a must to stand, to really get the whole show, to see everything that they do, and they do a lot on that stage, so many changes, movements and they are all flawless. Definitely going to be seeing their shows now that I have seen them. Over the top experience, and a fantastic way to start the night off.

KORN, this band I know well, and have followed since the first show I saw them at in Seattle in 2004, and I had some excellent seats to review their set, I felt like I was taken back in time, it has been awhile since I have seen Korn live, last time was at this venue, and I am still in awe. They came on stage with most of the crowd up and cheering, including me. They played a lot of my old favourites, and judging by the crowd theirs as well. It was phenomenal to see these guys play, and when they played a new song “Rotting in Vain” from their new album “The Serenity of Suffering”, the crowd just went absolutely crazy, as Jonathan had that same old rambling that we all love in previous songs. Here you will see what I mean…..  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nq9j1qkj2Vc . Korn delivered, giving everyone what they came for. You know what it’s like when you like a band, it is never long enough, you want more because they are playing incredible songs, ones you can sing along to because you have been a fan. It was great to look around and see everyone singing. Excellent stage presence, so impressive. Could have stood and watched them all night. Don’t miss them on this tour “Return of the Dreads”, you will kick yourself if you do, and travel for it, I did. Thanks guys for giving us your fans something to remember for a long time.

Headliner ROB ZOMBIE hits the stage last, obviously saving the best for last. Like Piggy D says “14,000 crazy Mother Fuckers, Thank you Washington”, the place was packed tonight.  Who doesn’t know this band, especially with their last release of “The Electric Warlock Acid Witch Satanic Orgy Celebration Dispenser”. You really have to be at a Zombie show to really appreciate what goes on, the talent of each of the musicians on stage (John 5, Piggy D, Gingerfish), because they all make this show a spectacular experience. There is so much interaction with Zombie and fans, making it that much more memorable for some. The energy level of this band is extremely high, and there are a couple of monsters roaming the stage at any one time, the graphics on the side screens, all around them, makes for a show of a lifetime. You won’t soon forget this night. John 5 does a couple of breathtaking solos, including the Star Spangled Banner, man he can sure play, it is stunning to watch, he also changes his guitars throughout the show. Piggy D was sporting a new mask this time around, visually a great choice, he was all over the stage as well.  Gingerfish couldn’t move behind that drum kit, but he had some new psychedelic drum skins, which looked amazing and fit perfectly into the Zombie look. I also found it easier to watch him play this time. Those guys must have left a ton of sweat up on stage. During one of the solos Zombie took a stroll around the crowd, now that was super cool, close up and personal with Zombie. Spectacular. He isn’t afraid to get out and make the show an even greater experience for some. At a point during the show he also mentioned he was going to eat a dozen doughnuts after their set because his pants wouldn’t stay up, he was losing so much weight on this tour.

I did laugh at one point as Zombie asked the crowd to put away those cell phones, just for 3 minutes to enjoy one song at least, because looking through your cell, you are going to miss something on that vast stage. There is just so much to see. Well a majority put their phones away, but some, I guess it was too important to record (probably poor quality too) their show. I would not want to miss one second of Rob Zombie and boys playing, because they played a variety of songs, and we were all singing along, well I was, because they are my favourite all time band, they have phenomenal shows, amazing music, what more could you want, expect a longer set.  Near the end .. we did get a sneak peek at Rob Zombie’s new movie “31” coming out soon .. scary you bet your ass, as are his previous ones. Then they came back and did more.

My review will not do the Zombie set justice, they are always over the top, giving 150% to their fans. For me, Metal Mom Rita, I just want to say thank you, for all that you do, for coming out in that heat and making my night one I won’t soon forget. I will see you next time as well. As long as I have a breath, I will be there.
