JUNE 16th, 2014

"Summer is coming. You know what that means? June 5th marks the kickoff of yet another touring festival.

Metal lovers will unite once again this summer at the 8th annual Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival hitting cities across the US. Some consider this to be Warped Tour’s heavier sounding counterpart. Often going to the same venues as Warped and starting only a few weeks later, this festival was also founded by Kevin Lyman.

Boasting a relatively small roster for a festival and reserved seating in the amphitheaters, it allows fans to have a different, less hectic experience. Of course there will be a pit area at the main stage for those willing to pay the price. If paying extra for that isn’t your thing, you can hit the pits at any other stage of your choosing and just sit back, relax and let your body recover while watching the amphitheater stage.

Avenged Sevenfold will be taking the main stage this year at Mayhem as their second major US tour since their latest studio album, “Hail To The King” was released late summer 2013. Rounding out the main stage acts this year are none other than Korn, Asking Alexandria and Trivium. With only three additional stages hosting 16 other bands, fans wont have to do a ton of searching to find who they want to see.

As with most tours, bands have either just released an album or have one that will be released during the tour run. This year it’s most notably Suicide Silence. After losing lead vocalist Mitch Lucker to a motorcycle accident in 2012, this will be the bands first US tour and first album release since. They’ll be taking the stage with Eddie Hermida on vocals. Soundwave attendees already got a taste of what he’s like as front man earlier this year. On July 15th their upcoming full length, “You Can’t Stop Me” will be out for your ears to hear.

Rounding out the lineup this year includes artists such as Cannibal Corpse, Upon a Burning Body, Veil Of Maya, Islander, Emmure, Erimha, Darkest Hour, Body Count, King 810, Miss May I, Texas Hippie Coalition, Mushroomhead, Wretched and Ill Niño

It doesn’t matter if you are a seasoned festival attendee or a Mayhem Fest first timer: Go out, have fun, stay safe and follow your own summer show protocol. You don’t want to be walking around with a sunburn all day or passing out from dehydration.

Denver, Wantagh, San Bernardino, Mountain View, Houston and Milwaukee will be having altered line ups so make sure you double check on your dates artists before you buy your ticket."

The tour runs from July 5th in San Bernardino, California until August 10th in The Woodlands, Texas
