In 2007 Totleben began writing his first songs, his musical interests bound to his inspirational roots. He combined coldness and anger of Black Metal with elements of classical music to create his own aggressive and cinematic feel to his compositions. But, the music was not meant to be solely instrumental, he contacted his good friend Narbengrund, Since he had a natural talent for writing and performing lyrics he was perfect for the ideas Totleben had in mind and so Narbengrund was made a founding member of the Black Metal act "Totengeflüster" (Whispers of the Dead).

TOTENGEFLÜSTER - Totengeflüster -

The main goal for Totleben and Narbengrund was to create a coherent and sophisticated piece of art. In this formative period Totleben was also producing artwork, videoclips and illustrations for many bands such as Necronomicon (Canada), Imperium Dekadenz (Ger), Lyfthrasyr (Ger) and Unlight (Ger). Through these close professional connections with bands he was introduced to Frostbitten, an already highly regarded Death Metal drummer. Frostbitten told Totleben of his interest in playing in a Black Metal project, so Frostbitten became the prominent session and live drummer for Totengeflüster. In the winter of 2012 Totengeflüster self-released their debut album entitled "Vom Seelensterben". It was a conceptual album, dependent on your point of view thematized either the cruelty and horrors of the night, or of human nature.

Recording lineup:
Narbengrund Nihilis - vocals
Totleben - guitars, orchestration, artwork
Frostbitten – drums
Frevelsaat - guitars
Rorschach - bass

The album received critical acclaim around the globe, and so Totengeflüster was eager to present their darkness around the world. This is where it was decided to take a new path and incorporate two new members into their ranks. The new additions were Rorschach, who sold his soul to his bass guitar and Frevelsaat, who became the second six stringed warlock of the quintet. From this moment onwards, a new era began for Totengeflüster.

During 2014 they were making their presence known around the world on the stage. Between November 2014 and December 2015 Totengeflüster wrote and recorded their sophomore album Im Nebel der Vergänglichkeit (into the mists of transience) which was mixed and mastered by Andy Classen at Stage One Studios starting on March 6th 2016. Totleben created all Artworks that where needed to fill a 24 pages booklet and digipack. He also filmed and produced Totengeflüsters newest music video.

If you haven’t heard of Totengeflüsters before now, it is time you went and checked them out. These guys put everything into their work, therefore giving you the fans something worth listening to and buying. You can tell that this is not just thrown together, but it is a well thought out piece of art. Definitely Death Metal by those vocals, but also symphonic, and dark, it is rather brutal, but put all these elements together and it gives some very imaginative, brutal and seductive elements to their sound.

In all honesty, I can’t do this album the real review it deserves, there is no way to truly explain to you how amazing these songs are, the only way to enjoy and get a feel for their exemplary style is to buy this album, sit back and just listen, listen to the masterful way they have put everything together. You will understand why I say I can’t put it into words.
