TRAILIGHT is a brand new band, and probably one you have not heard of, but let me give you a little history lesson first. Omer Cordell who launched this project was formerly a well known photographer, bands that he has worked with that you might be familiar with are Fear Factory, Meshuggah, Strapping Young Lad. Although Omer had the drive for photography, there was just something missing, a passion. At the young age of 9, his sister brought home an album that changed his life “Power Windows” by Rush. At 13 he purchased his first set of drums and for the next 10 years drummed after his heroes.

Speeding up the process here, in 2007 he was working with the Danish band “Mnemic”, and as a thank-you he found he was in possession of bassists Tomas “Obeast” Koefoed personal bass.

October 2010, the spark became a flame, Omer watched a Rush Documentary and it hit him, he was so inspired by how the band formed and the reasons behind it, that he decided to start playing music again.

Omer soon was playing obsessively, every free moment, sometimes staying up until 3am to practice. In one year, he went from having no idea about what he was doing to owning 3 basses/2 amps, and a whole lot of effects. To say this was an obsession would be an understatement.

From that passion he formed a project titled "TRAILIGHT" in 2011. Which at the time, he himself played all the instruments, and funded the project entirely, the self titled album was released Nov. 19, 2013.

The Primitive Mountain - Album Trailer:

Now, after that, let me tell you what I think about this great new band, TRAILIGHT. To be honest, listening to this numerous times, I am really at a loss for words. Sometimes, I really wish there was something totally different out there to enjoy, and I think I just found it. Something so well put together, with some thought behind it, and each song has it’s own distinct sound. It gives you so much, something out of the ordinary. After listening you can tell that a lot of time and effort, and talent went into the making of this album. I for one, am honoured to have had the chance to do this review.

We all know the musicians that helped to put together this album, and you know the talent behind it, Ryan on drums does an absolute killer job, phenomenal to say the least. Dave’s vocals are stunning and commanding, such a range, making this album something different, Cory on guitars, well he just helps to pull it all together, and the guitar solos, always a pleasure to listen to when done this well. There is so much incredible talent here, musicians that have so much determination and pushing the bar always higher.

From Ryan Van Poederooyen: “Here's a sneak peek into the sound of this record. I really enjoyed playing drums on it and dug the tunes! Hope you guys dig it as well.... got some flashy drum parts in the middle of this tune Good times! Enjoy!"

I really don’t want to say too much, I don’t want to give everything away here, because let me tell you. You absolutely, without a doubt need to pick this up when it comes out. Excuse me, but holy hell, this is one amazing album. It really is over the top. When someone (Omer) can put together a line up like this, and masterfully put this extra-ordinary piece together, you know that you have something people will be enthralled with, follow to see what is next. I can’t express enough just how brilliant this album is, you need to get it and hear for yourself. But please, trust me on this one.
