MARCH 29th, 2014

Welcome to Metaltitans, Guardians of Metal entertainment worldwide. We are here talking with Steve Tucker of Warfather, a death metal horde fronted by ex-Morbid Angel front man. Thank you for taking the time to do this interview with us.

1.  How did you come up with the band name WARFATHER ?

Tucker: I didn’t actually come up with it, a guitarist I was doing some tracking with suggested the name, and it grew on me.

2.  When did the band officially become a band ?

Tucker: In 2012 It became a physical band and not just an idea in my head.

3.  How did each of your members come to be in Warfather ?

Armatura (guitar) - I have known Armatura for over 20 years, this was the right time to play together.

Deimos (wardrums/vocals) - I searched for a drummer for months, watching videos of so many drummers, Demios was by far the most aggressive, and that won me over.

Avgvstvs (bass/vocals) -  Was introduced to me by mutual friends, his work ethic and level head got him involved.

4.  Why did you choose an Apocalyptic Death Metal genre ?

Tucker: I honestly did not choose a genre, I wrote an album that falls into that category. As far as I am concerned I play death metal.  I don’t really care for subcategories, it seems silly to me.

5.  We now know the title of your debut album “Orchestrating The Apocalypse”, what made you decide on this for album name ?

Tucker: It is an idea I had for a few years, it is in a way, a pun. It is music which has been orchestrated, but it is also a conjuring.

6.  You have stated that you are just not a metal band, but a belief system, a meeting of the minds per se, tell us what that means.

Tucker: what that means is this is not an act or an image , it is real. I believe the things that I write about 100%. I live my life on these beliefs and so do the other people involved with Warfather.

7.  You have said “Fuck religion, Fuck the government”, I am not disagreeing but would like to hear why you say this.  Experience, or just seeing the world around you ?

Tucker: They are both about controlling your mind , they will both tell you what you want to hear, they will both tell you to ignore what you see and believe what you are told. I will not tell you this, I will tell you to look around you and come to your own conclusion . The problem is, most people will not do this, they are afraid to do this, afraid to lose a tax refund or to go to hell , or more likely afraid that it all isn’t as simple as they want us to think.

8.  Who writes the lyrics for Warfather ?  Where does the inspiration come from to write the lyrics ?

Tucker: I write all of the lyrics. I think they come from frustration and anger at what I see around me, and what I feel is the outcome of what I see around me.

9.  40 minutes of American death metal which fans of Morbid Angel, Nile, and Behemoth are going to enjoy, what kind of elements will you deliver ?

Tucker: This album is death metal as I see it. I didn’t put that sticker on the album , and I never would have, given the option. I am not trying to convince anyone this album is something it is not, what it is , is raw aggressive death metal.

10.  You have 12 tracks on this album, is there one that you enjoy more than any other ?  If so, why that one.
Tucker: they are all like children to me, I don’t have a favourite.

11.  Did you have just 12 tracks, or did you have more and cut them down to 12 ?

Tucker: There is importance to the number 12, I do not want to get into that because it is a discussion in it's self.  I wanted 12 songs, like a clock, each song is a passing of time and a message, it all ties in if you take the time to look and read.

12.  Amazing artwork too for your cover, did you have this idea, or did you give it to Ken Coleman, and he created something for you ?

Tucker: This was completely Ken Coleman. He is brilliant and has a very unique way of combining natural elements with mechanical elements.

13.  Have you released yet a video from your debut album ?  If so, how did you choose the first one. If not, do you plan on releasing one ?

Tucker: We have not released a video, we will be doing this in the spring.

14.  With the release of your debut on January 21st in North America, and February 24th in Europe, do you intend to do some touring to support ?

Tucker: Yes, we plan to do as many shows as we can.

15.  Where would you like to see Warfather in 5 years ?

Tucker: % years from now I think we will be on our third CD, I believe we will do nothing but grow as more people get the message.

Is there anything you would like to add that you think people should know about the band, something I might have missed asking about ?

Tucker: No I think you hit it all. Cheers!
