A night of rock and power metal tonight!
Art Nation is a new name to me. As I google it, the pictures with eyeliner give me the feeling that it must be related to Pirates of the Caribbean or at least something epic. As the fellows appear under the spotlight, the old Emperor clothes (remember “The Loss And Curse of Reverence” video?) is what I note first, but then all attention is captured by the absolutely fabulous vocals of Alexander Strandell!
Vocals, in general, dominate the mix, that to me could have a bit more bass. I also note that the hi-hat sounds cracked (has some buzzling and different overtones) - and then I notice that the cymbal set is all with small holes - I have never seen anyone use a practice set live, but it is decent in the mix, and probably helps to not overpower the rest of the instruments. Life hack or a hot fix for a sudden issue? Screw that.

What a great sound this band has! I enjoy every moment. Very catchy, yet the tunes are quite different from each other. And THESE vibratos!!! I note the guitar work and the more we are into the set, the more solos the band unleashes. An absolutely amazing guitar player!
To me, the band could fit literally any platform - the Eurovision-type song Lightbringer is on - it is the perfect proof.
Ok, so - these guys deserve a much bigger stage, give it to them.
PS: Metal Archives has no reviews of their records, - how come?
Dynazty headlining today and they are the reason for the venue to be sold out.
Ameno is an intro indicating that the show is going to be epic. Dynazty is more traditional power metal, heavier than the opening act. Headbanging is on straight from the first riff. The material, indeed, is epic and has some good hooks, though, not my cup of tea. Two guitarists trade solos and run solos together. By design the vocals are less prominent now, because more instruments are highlighted in the mix.
By the way, both acts of today are from Sweden, somehow this country always delivers superb quality acts.
The material is so heavy that a more brutal vocal would fit easily. Now comes something extremely punchy - Waterfall - resembling Pain, if only not the vocals. During the song, acoustic guitars on stands are brought on stage.
My Darkest Hour / Power Of Will / Yours are played on acoustic guitars, at first I am skeptical but unexpectedly for me, the acoustic parts sound exceptionally good, - great choice to play the real thing, not just clean electric.
Some of these vocal notes are really dangerous, minor tune deviation may make all fall apart, sound flawed, but that is the risk for the whole genre. Dynazty deliver an 11-song set plus guitar and drum solo slots.
I personally liked the first band more when it comes to the vocal delivery alone today, but hey, - these both bands are not to be missed if you are around.
