John Dee, another gig, - and it is a gamer evening tonight. Wait, what? Yeah, like that. It is Miracle Of Sound, their first ever tour, a man, a band with gaming thematics!
Colm R. McGuinness, acoustic bard, is warming up. After I have recently survived Dead South, I feared the worst, but Colm is a discovery! “Clap for fuck sake”, - and he starts stomping his leg rhythmically on some trigger so that there is a kick sound.
And he is great! I enjoyed his gig so much. One-man army, marvellous vocals, stage presence and engagement with the audience, and arguably the best soundtrack for the irish pub parties! “I am Miracle of Sound”, - he trolls us - “I just came earlier than anticipated”.
When we are too silent, we are called “Xbox 360” or other names. “Finland is crying”, - and the audience is laughing again.
Despite saying he looks like a German burglar, Colm is dressed like a real gentleman. I am not sure if you have ever been robbed by a German, though - if you have been, you need to send us an essay with your experience.
A Warhammer-themed song from the second EP will come next, but “Make sound while I hydrate” is one of the typical intermezzos. Barking and making all of us bark is also another thing - we need to legalize it during our corporate presentations.
As Colm plays, I wanna dance, - it is magical, and, again, just one dude with an acoustic guitar.
Removing a capo, - “Ha, we are in tune. Dreadful news. I wrote this song.” Someone from the audience brings a beer and after a long attempt of the audience screaming “beer”, - Colm finally sees it and drinks within 1,73 seconds.
Go see him live - it is a lot of fun and seemingly a great dude! And also, - I LOVE soundtracks. If you do too - this may be something for you!
Miracle Of Sound is up next. Intro and then it’s on. That’s how it can be - playing for more than ten years and having the first tour only now. It is never too late, and Miracle of Sound led by Gavin Dunne is the proof. Gavin does the vocals, guitarist (Eoghan MacSweeny) and keyboardist (Pepa Fletcher-White) do back vocals (Pepa sounds great!), we also have Connor Duggan on bass (the mix is not too gentle to him - need more bass!) and Conor MacSweeny on drums.
It is catchy. Catchy AF.
Gavin says it is the smallest crowd of a tour, but one of the louder ones. Wake the white wolf, the third one, is epic, and the sound finally improves. After the fourth one, Ode to Fury (song dedicated to the famous God of War game), Colm McGuinness resurfaces with a violin for Sirona and gags - announcing the song in Irish language. John Dee now jumps uncontrollably. Colm stays for Queen of Pirates. I do not know whom to compare them - perhaps, Korol i Shut, a medieval punk band from Russia, but this one has more pirate vibes.
Baldur's Gate fans then enjoy Whatever Comes Our Way. It is great that Gavin did put the band on the road, totally worth it - and it’s been a long wait for a 12-year old Sovngarde Song, their first ever, and a real superhit dedicated to the legendary Skyrim game. Everyone waves hands.
The two of the most famous songs come at the very end - Skål and Valhalla Calling. Everyone is singing along with drink in hand as it is perfectly fitting for the land of vikings.
I enjoyed and was happy to see so many people, just like myself, enjoy music from games and movies - all ages were represented.
