How do I express my thoughts to let you know just how epic this show was? Well, let me try with this show review. This was the first time for me to see Powerwolf, I have waited a long time for this. I will add, our tour was supposed to have Dragonforce as well, but sadly by 2pm, it was announced that their bus broke down, and sadly they wouldn't make it to the show ontime, so only Powerwolf for us tonight.

If you wanted a high energy, fun, heavy metal mass, with lots of crowd interactions, visually stunning, and fantastic sound, then this was the one to see. The stage is like a large, Gothic cathedral window, but in reality, it is an LED wall, that had changing Werewolf artwork projected on the backdrop, this truly was quite a cool feature for the show, adding to the experience of each and every song, which all had unique visual imagery.

They played a variety of favourites,  and trust me, there are plenty from their catalogue to pick from, including the classics like "We Drink Your Blood", and "Amen & Attack", while also playing newer material, like "Heretic Hunters" and "Sinners of the Seven Seas". Looking around the venue as they played, people were singing right along side them, the crowd didn't miss a beat, even when it came to the fan interactions with the band. This show too, being a fully seated theatre, it was nice to be upfront for this experience, and not get hit by the mosh pit. Fists and horns were in the air most of the night, you just can't help but want to be apart of this wolf pack. During one song, Attila Dorn(vocalist) left the stage and walked up and down the aisles in the theatre, that was especially cool to see, surprised a security guard wasn't escorting him through, but they did keep a watchful eye from a distance, he was safe.  I think everyone was in awe,  I definitely was since he was only 2 feet away from me.  Really wanted to stop him and say thank you, but I don't think that would go over well (especially if all the fans stopped him along the way, ha!). Later on, both Charles and Roel joined in the audience to chant "HA" on my side of the venue, while Attila and Falk playfully fought over whose side of the room was louder. (I think the "HA" side won, with the bonus of the guys on our side) .

The performance was beyond expectional, the vocals sounded just like you were listening to  the song right off the record. Everything was very precise, clear, and most of all, energetic. If you are new to Powerwolf, let me brief you on the members. Guitars are handled by the Greywolf duo, Matthew and Charles, who are both extremely talented. I must add, that Charles leaned out into the crowd, pointed to a young fan, and gave him a guitar pic, and that was so sweet to see, he was so thrilled ! Fun to connect with all ages of your fans, and Powerwolf did just that.  Falk Maria Schlegel who handles the organ, (it was his birthday, and we all sang Happy Birthday to him), was  enthusiastic, especially when you consider a couple of nights ago he fell from the stage and dislocated his shoulder, but he carried on flawlessly  giving 110% for the fans. The drum blasts from Roel Van Helden, keeping the beat going and helping bring the entirety of the song together, was nothing short of perfect. Overall, the Powerwolf experience is unlike any other I have come across in awhile, with non stop energy, visual excellence, even humour mixed with smiles, which you would think isn't "metal", but hey, nothing brings us all together (and makes us happier), than a heavy metal mass like this one.

This time, was their first time coming to Vancouver on a longer tour run, and I really hope it isn't the last, as we all really enjoyed being apart of the wolf pack and howling in the night with our pack leaders, Powerwolf !
