I had the honour of reviewing The Rock Orchestra perform at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre. Char got to see and photograph them in Abbotsford back in April of this year, and after how much she enjoyed herself, I felt it was my turn to experience this event.
If you like rock music, with a dash of heavy metal, like Metallica, Evanescence, AC/DC, The Cranberries, System of a Down, or Linkin Park, then this concert is for you! They covered every genre out there in the rock and heavy metal genre, and let me tell you they did a phenomenal job, so much goes into their performance, making it a night to remember, not only musically, but stage presence as well.
Each member makes it a stunning show to watch, in fact, I am at a loss for words to express just how impressive the whole band is. All the members did an exceptional job up there, and what a pleasure to watch each and every one. I do have to wonder how on earth the violinist were capable of playing so fast and lasting all night, there was a 15min intermission, but still, over an hour and a half of playing, wow! I really enjoyed the masks they wore, the glittery skeleton masks that sparkled in the lighting, as well as their classical attire as well, it all came together nicely.
The trio of singers, 2 ladies and 1 gentleman, all excelled at their mind blowing performance. So remarkable covering all those different genres and the vocal range they all had. One thing I enjoyed tonight was the fact no one stood up in their seats, so you got full view, it was unusual to see, but nice. Unlike if you were to attend who they were covering, Metallica for instance, those shows would be moshing and fighting to hang onto the rail ! Haha! That being said, I really enjoyed every second of this concert, from the comfort of my seat.
Like I mentioned earlier, they played a variety of songs, including "Bring Me to Life" by Evanescence, "Thunderstruck" by AC/DC, "Zombie" by The Cranberries", "Smells Like Teen Spirit" by Nirvana, "Enter Sandman" by Metallica, and countless others. Overall a phenomenal performance and all songs had their own unique twist.
Thank you to The Rock Orchestra so much for giving me a night to remember and enjoy the whole show. If you get a chance to experience them, it is worth it, don't miss out.
